      I saw them as a smitten teenager at Royal Albert Hall on the Meat is Murder tour. Thought it was epic, but it's referred to as a disaster ! Take it from me, it was amazing. They just chucked in "How Soon is Now ?" as their opener, then finished with "Meat is Murder" walking off one by one to leave just Johnny Marr riffing the outro. Oh, and Pete Burns was guest vocalist on Barbarism. Oh, and James were the support act having only released 1 EP. I thought it was good !

      A friend of mine was in London 1986 for holidays. And he stood in front of the Palladium when the Smiths were to play there. He had no ticket. And the black market prices for tickets were too high for him. And weeks later they did their last concert together...what a chance to fail!! Ok, we then saw Morrissey on his first german tour 1991 three times. But a whole live gig by the legendary four is unpayable..

    • @Philmod68
      @Philmod68 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hmm....not sure if its so much "threadbare" as maybe its that these songs at this point were harder to duplicate live...due to the amount of studio clutter and overdubs they were doing at this point. Though yes...3 years previous...their sound was a lot more raw and easier to play live.

    • @danjsy
      @danjsy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@misterteaification These songs in particular are just much more obvious by the numbers singalongs and lack the wit and joy of their earlier music. Panic and Ask were OK, but listen to these vs"Hatful of Hollow", also made up of singles and b-sides like "William", when they were bursting with creativity and the comparison is stark.
