Ahhhh my good friend, Travis... I’ve seen this guy in GRB where I work... I’ve seen him testing, practicing, and experimenting with welding... I’m proud to call him a good friend... he’s dedicated
As being a welder for 30 years I am really happy to see the trade I put my life into going to some awesome young welders keep it up I am proud of what yall are doing there are some pretenders out there that can't weld a lick ...
You can learn a lot from Travis just from watching the years of his videos. I've watched and re-watched them over and over so many times I'm surprised they're not worn out 😏👍
The fact yall brought travis down..says alot. Super glad yall teamed up...travis a weld fanatic extremely precise, very good , and funny as hell 😂. Really stoked up yall did this vid. Thanks. RayWelds, Gonzales TX.
hahaha. I'd have to say this dudes quite a bit cooler than sheldon, so yeah I guess you could he is sheldon of welding. I think it's safe to say that welding is his life
That’s the best part too me not all of us are dumbass welders this guy is on the top of the food chain of pipe hands!!!!! I would love to work a job with this guy!!!!!
Travis, you should do more talking on your YT channel man, you're a very good teacher and I'm sure you would be even better when you're not trying to pack a lifetime of knowledge into one 40 min video. Thanks for info brother, very much appreciated.
Totally awe-strucken! Didn't intend on watching the whole 40+ minutes but did! SouthCoast, hats off to you for your humbleness, you will be rewarded. Second, always knew Fieldres knew his shit, but damn! After watching this, it's obvious he's borderline genius, but he seems genuine. I used to watch his old vids and even followed on IG once, but then he seemed arrogant. I'm glad you had him on!
When i weld titanium I usually start at the bottom, move my torch left and right until i get to the top. oh and i use argon, and a trail cup if they ask me too.
Right hand and left hand welder papa! Nobody does this anymore brotha nice video its amazing the advantage people have in the field when you can weld with both hands. Awesome job bro.
Todo o soldador TIG sabe que existe óxidos mas limpeza com lixa manual deixa impurezas empreginadas. O mais indicado para limpeza são escovas tantos rotativo ou manual. Bom vídeo com uma equipe excelente. Parabéns! Já deixando o meu Like
He's probably a WET (welding engineering technology) student - we have that up here in Canada north of the wall. They usually start out as welders first.
i weld titanium in 14 years and it's all field weld, tie in, 100% X-ray all passed> but i never used a trailer gas and it's still the same color you've got. all you gonna do is just maintained clean, clean, clean every time before you started weld that's simple!
Everytime i watch a welding video, i realize how much more knowledge and info there is to learn in the welding industry, & how ive only dabbled in my infancy stage as a intermittent hobby welder. Holy f#%k man! I never heard of him before, but looking at the comments below, in addition to watching the whole clip (that i wasnt prepared on doing, initially), it’s obvious that it’ll be best for me, if i absorb EVERYTHING this guy says about welding. Thanks for sharing this w/us, guys. One last thing - wtf is that sound at 30:17/18?! Camera man fartn around, literally?! Lol. Have a great day guys. Aloha
Awesome video with the one and only FieldRes! I kept wondering why he kept mentioning "antifreeze", but then when they bought out the Heet, I was like oh, that's why he keeps calling it gasoline antifreeze......methanol alcohol!
good afternoon my Brothers, the here Aldo in from Brazil Paraná I like Very welding!,. I am welder in petróleo in Petrobrás Brazil. I watch all the videos on your Channel. very nice your esplication.
I am an Edmontonian working in the oilpatch but im an electrician/instrument mechanic...hes not kidding about the weather.. we got shut down once in peace river(shiver) at -53c(-63.4F)... think spitting and it bouncing because it freezes before it hits the ground. shit'll put hair on yor chest.
"...And if you already got hair on your chest, it'll migrate to your neck and back." 😂 Holy shit that's crazy cold. We get -30 C once in a while here here in Iowa, I can't fathom -50. Stay warm partner, winter is back again.
TrAvis Field. You are something else. Brother it would be my pleasure to work with you. Too many "welders" and shop foreman today don't know, don't listen, and just plain don't care to take their time, do their homework. Study their metal, get to know their ,psycho" personality or whatever the case. I applaud you for doing it right brother. Great job I hope you burn n earn!!!
those professionals who weld a lot titanium (and other exotic steels) have a lot of fun with this film and the canadian welding master. the Canadian master still does not know how to make the correct tie-in and nice regular root.
Nice, when welding alloys I use nuts of the same materials instead of bridge taking. Would titanium nuts cause contamination even though it's going to be removed before filler wire is added?
He's using memory cloth first. It doesn't smear like a wire brush does. If you watch, he uses the memory cloth back and forth and the wire brush only one direction right after, then he wipes it down clean with a cloth.
Love your vids man I wish for your continued success. I was wondering if you ever going to make vids using simpler easier to puncture materials like 1x1 square pipes etc on how to fully fuse them together cause I got a client that is trying to get some handtrucks made from scratch using stick welding. Now I’ve only been welding for a couple of months and mostly used tougher material and I’ve been having problems with this even though in theory is such a simple task i will much appreciate it if you ever post a vid on that.
Dat is some specialty type skills.... And, this is a great tut video.... Too expensive to learn for now... But, great video non da less.... Big money with the Titanium ... Aircraft specialties...
It's good practice but not essential. Sometimes it's not possible. I used to weld OGV assemblies for large civil jet engines, all titanium, we used clip on backing fixtures.
Same way weld anything other than plain old carbon really. All about heat input, minimal time at elevated temperatures to stop grain growth, and protection from atmosphere👍

Very informative video. Great knowledge
He’s so good I don’t think I’ll even watch him. I never even touch titanium let alone weld it.

Wow smart dude good video much respect
this was very impressive
Didn't realize that the oils from the gloves could containment the filler. Will put that in the brain library
Nice, when welding alloys I use nuts of the same materials instead of bridge taking. Would titanium nuts cause contamination even though it's going to be removed before filler wire is added?
Plenty of precious information till Friday then
Travis you're the best thank nfld
Super smart that guy is.
Gotta love Canada and the great Canadians! Texas away from Texas...
*Minus Justin Trudeau of course!*
U need to make a video with trey from Alabama pipe welding academy
When you realize you’ve been using your brush wrong all along 😐😂
This is so badass!!!
Great stuff Learn something new today
Very good stuff I wish I would want to this school
36:33 He's smearing it. Probably not a huge deal but if you're not supposed to brush back and forth doesn't the same apply with emery cloth?
He's using memory cloth first. It doesn't smear like a wire brush does. If you watch, he uses the memory cloth back and forth and the wire brush only one direction right after, then he wipes it down clean with a cloth.
First arc strike at 32 minutes!
How do you keep your feeding wire hand still?? I move soo much and I feel like that’s the only thing hold me back from making a good weld, please help

What kind of filler was used for the titanium and is there a certain mix of gas needed

Well I be damned! Travis Field in the H?! You definatley have to get him a wing dinner from Timmy Chans before he goes back to Cananda!!
Please tell the titanium grade and filler metal used ?
I couldn’t quite see what amp range he was in. I know with the pedal it doesn’t tell the whole story but I like to know these things.
Wanted to ask whay sheild is that thanks
Anyone know where he went to college and who was in charge at said college?
How hot\temp was he running for this
WHERE DO I GET ONE OF THOSE HOODS
Travis could work at NASA
I heard when welding titanium, it should be done in a gas induced "Hyperbaric Chamber"
It's good practice but not essential. Sometimes it's not possible. I used to weld OGV assemblies for large civil jet engines, all titanium, we used clip on backing fixtures.
Goddamn this guy should be the welding Einstein
So, rather than thinner, you're using anti-freeze as a degreaser?
Yellow heet is methanol, red heet is isopropyl
Can u plzz explain the purging arrangement
Same way you weld 9 chrome basically fellas... keep that filler material clean with the argon if it get dirty clip the ends of the filler material
Same way weld anything other than plain old carbon really. All about heat input, minimal time at elevated temperatures to stop grain growth, and protection from atmosphere👍
Interesting...
