Laura is that rare gem of a person who has a thoroughly positive attitude about everything that she does or learns how to do. You can't teach anyone how to have that attitude, but people who have that attitude can learn and do anything. Her smile goes all the way through. She just sparkles.

I have 20 years of trucking experience, the reason why the trailer brake was not working correctly was because you had the hand brake engaged. I would not recommend using the hand brakes unless you are having an emergency. But you are definitely doing a great job. Wishing y’all a wonderful and prosperous year! Love watching your videos.

I agree w-hacksaw on your problem with your trailer brakes popping out when you release your brakes. Your hand brake should have a release that returns the handle to the released setting, I would suggest that you learn how and when to use the hand valve properly. if you use the hand valve by itself you are using the trailer brakes only to stop your vehicle, which means if you do it long enough your brakes wear out prematurely on the trailer, now when you use your foot pedal to stop your brakes may have uneven breaking with the tractor doing more breaking than the trailer. tell Grant or you may call me and I can explain it better if you like

Laura, it's great that you're learning new things and hauling corn to the ethanol plant. I haven't seen anyone answer your question to the airbrakes? So here is what you need to know. I've been driving for around 8 years now. One thing you really need to know is, release the trailer brakes first! The problem you're having is that the air has to travel from the compressor/air tanks all the way back to the rear axles. When you release the tractor brakes first, you've used up a lot of your air, so the compressor has to try and replenish what you've used up. On a safety note, you always want to release the trailer first, so the tractor keeps you in place. If you're on a hill and you release the tractor first the weight in the trailer will start to push you around, especially if your trailer brakes are failing. Always release the trailer first, once you hear or feel them release, then release the tractor brakes. I'm a Retired U.S. Marine and never thought, I would ever have a CDL. Until I started working for my father. You also need to learn how to do most of the maintenance yourself. You'll find out really quick how much money you'll save just by fixing things yourself. Especially during this whole (Inflation) situation. There's your tip on Airbrakes. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. I'll tell you everything that I know. My father has been driving for 50 years now and I've learned so much from him. Keep a smile on your face and keep putting out those videos. Happy Easter.

As a professional driver for 30 years, a couple of tips. Never use the Jake break when empty. It puts excessive pressure on exhaust manifold gaskets. Check the rubber grommets at your airlines. Make sure they are good and seal tight. Never use the hand trailer brake to park. There is no need to pull it down when the supply lines are pulled. For your first time to the elevator, you did awesome. Even got the floating of gears down! Way to go!!!!

I've used them bobtailing before the jake doesn't know what the truck weighs just helps save on the drum brakes and sounds great especially on the older trucks. Now they're more exhaust brakes and don't have the same effect of slowing down a truck.

Way to go young lady! Im always impressed with smart, level-headed young people in this world. Bodes well for the future of our country. Thanks for these videos. Very informative. I’m a 67 year old retired jet engine tech, so never farmed, but always loved the idea of that very busy but satisfying lifestyle. Many farmers in my family tree from the past in Ohio.

Hi Laura. My name is Tom and I am 43 years old, I was born and lived in Ukraine until I was 21. At the moment I have been living in Russia for more than 20 years. In Ukraine, I have 28 acres of land that my brother is engaged in. This year he sowed a sunflower. Being a farmer is hard work. It's very interesting to watch your videos.

My 21 year old got his CDL right out of high school. Has spent the last couple years pulling a three axle lead gravel trailer (and occasionally a train). Enjoys what he does and makes good money.

BY FAR, my favorite LauraFarms video ever! Got to hear Jake brakes twice, see a hot girl learning to drive a bad ass truck, watching the corn pour in and out of the trailer, watching the train at the crossing... All the fun stuff about farming that's not in the fields, and even some funny sexual innuendos at the end for all the dirty-minded b@stards out there. 😂 Also loved when Laura said she'd hate for corn to start going everywhere if she forgot to close the hopper bottoms on the trailer. I was like "yeah that makes a mess, ask Zach (MillennialFarmer) about that! Pretty sure he did that a few videos ago." 😂 btw, get ready to replace those bearings in a year or 2 on the hopper bottoms on the trailer. They go quick with all the dust. Keep a full trailer set on hand at all times, you never know. Great video Laura and Grant, love yall's channel, and can't wait to see yall grow your farm together, and I look forward to many more amazing videos like this one. Best of luck with planting 2023! Much love and God bless ❤🙏🏻

Not as long as its for a farm vehicle, you are not more than 150 miles from the farm and you don't cross state lines.

Way to go, Laura. You did an awesome job driving. One thing you want to do before unloading your trailer is to let the air out of the air bags when you unload that fast because you could blow an airbag.
