As an amateur turner I fully endorse Brian's recommendation that you join your local wood turning club. I've enjoyed and benefited greatly from having had a whole day's demonstration from internationally renowned turners.
Also, there's a great social side as you meet like-minded people and the competitions are great fun.

Thanks Brian I really love your demo's. Good for me to see that even the experts some time make little mistakes.

I did go to a local woodturningclub, im from Holland and go to a club in Belgium (its the closest for me). But due the Corona there is activity and i wand to make 3-sided tea containers Maybe 12 or more.
So i went online and youre video was the first i found and then you mentioned "Therming"........ man a hole new world opened for me :-)
so again thank you, now i have to go into my shop and start working on this new technique.
    Greetings from Holland.

Dear Brian, I learn a lot from your technics and your knowledge passed on with great wisdom, fruit of undeniable experience with woodturning. I am a woodworking aficionado of laser hours, the lathe is one of the machines that I have less experience with. I would like to ask you if this technique of drilling the part, with the Fostner drill does not present a great risk of accident, since, if the wood splits your hand, it can meet the drill by turning hundreds of turns?
Thank you very much. I wish you a lot of success and health, and also a big hug from Brazil. Said Choucair.

Very nice!.I would suggest to make your blanks with square holes instead of round. You can hold the spindles in the squares, making it easer to index and change out.

I have tried several other approaches to jigs, and I will have to try the square mortises too. I have not found a single type of terming jig that works well for all types of therming project, but rather that certain types of jigs work better for certain types of work. The advantage of the round holes is that turners that do not also work with flat wood could still use it. The big down side with the round mortises is that it easily racks. As you point out, the advantage of the square mortises would be easy to change out and index; but would be limited to 90 degree faces (e.g. no triangles, hexes)
