    I used to run a large show at a theme park using an m32 and a TON (100+) of show control snippets and cues.

    Finally in this video I'm discovering how to set up & use snippets. But...so far while sitting at my board have been unable to have my board do what Drews' is doing. I will watch as often as needed until it works for me. Exactly what I want to be able to do.

    Snippets - you can change your FX rack for every song if you want to - say song 1 with Vintage Room and song 2 with Ambient, vocalist send amounts to FX buses and so on. Lots of fun with snippets. We use the iPad app often and I didn't see a way to recall snippet if you are on the iPad and walking the room. Our board is in the back of the room in a recessed area thus some FoH mixers may not want to stand in the "cave" while mixing and do walk with the iPad app. For snippets, what I do is during rehearsal - when a song is feeling good, I will "save snippet" of the current song fader settings and the effects. Before service 1, in final run-through, similarly make small adjustments and re-save snippets. Then you can just roll into service 1 with snippet recall and be ready to go without a lot of knob turning to make adjustments. If I was on staff, I would do more than this, but as a volunteer, keeping it to a limit on time spent - but will definitely spend more time going into Christmas - four services should be a bit more automated than relying on memory to pull stuff up and down. Real important is to bring vocal panning into snippets so as to sound good for online stereo play. (the goal is good panning of BG Vox and centering of lead - so many people just put all vocals in the center including BG). Got my X32 "training" back in 2015-2016 and this video would have been a welcome thing back about 2017-18 or so. This is the best show-management video for X32 I've seen so far. I may use the Cues but instead so far, I just assign buttons 8-12 to be snippet recall and it is pretty fast. Have a good Christmas season everyone.

    Thanks Drew, recently used the snippets for the christmas musical at church. What a livesaver! Tip for your videos - raise the side angle camera more to eye level so it's not angled up at your face

    Do you happen to know if there is way to not have to select what is saved in a Snippet every time. I am thinking like during a rehearsal to quickly save only the channel faders. The selection process seems too time consuming..?

    Good morning Drew, I have a small problem with my x32 I have it panned left and right and I’m using the limiter. Also I also had them as a stereo bus but online it’s only coming through the left side. What do I need to do to fix it? Thank you.

      This could be an issue with the cable(s) you are using to get audio to your computer for streaming or the input settings on the computer. Make sure the cable is a stereo cable and that you have it routed out of 2 outputs on the X32. I have been running the X32 since April of 2014 at our church and we have just about maxed it out (we would have already if we didn't use an XR18 for our drum mics and send just a left and right out to our X32) and are about to upgrade to the Wing very soon.

    Hey, I need your help. I want to have a default scene saved on all our M32. No matter what I try it won't work. On one of them I somehow managed to save a preset which loads every time I switch it on. Unfortunately it's not my default scene. It's always saying that the loaded scene is the last one I saved, but it isn't. It's a competely different one and I can't figure out why and I did a lot of research on that with no results. Thx

    What is the correct way to save all these cues, scenes and snippets and transfer them to another console? I am confused by "snippets","mixer snippets", "scenes" and "mixer scenes".

    17:11 so best practice is to give your snippets a decent name. E.g. abbreviation of the song name.

    hello Drew, i have following problem: before the service starts i have the band rehursing on stage with there P16's and all the channels on the board muted so there is no sound in the chruch. To freeup some channels on the p16 i have summed my stereo channels in a mix bus en snet this bus to the p16. So the sound in the hall remains stereo whilst the p16 is mono but, and this is my problem, i have to unmute the summed channel in order to make it audible in the p16 whilst the direct channel output to the p16 can be left muted. How can i solve this ? (i have x32 with the latest firmware)

    • @DCarter2010
      @DCarter2010 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make sure your routing for this summed channel has the Signal Tap set to Pre Fader. Any option that has + Mute and Post Fader will both be muted to the P-16 when the channel is muted.

      thx@@DCarter2010 , but that is the case, so there must be something else wrong, i have noticed that all of the mix busses are muted when the channels are muted whilst the channels them selves remain working on the p16, muted or unmuted?

      It would be very cool, even if a paid option, if Drew recorded(let's say his church band) and published some files, maybe of well known songs, for people to practice mixing with.
      Side note, they would probably either have to be public use(older than whatever date) or a paid royalty to the copyright owner, but that could be recouped with said fee.

    I am not a Behringer x32 user but I have noticed that a lot of people that uses this console surpass the unity gain mark and a lot this caught my attention….even with proper gain structure why is this happening a lot ????

    • @ceepax6197
      @ceepax6197 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I find my guys do this a lot and to compensate the main DCA's tend to hover around -10.
      The main reason is inexperience in using a gain structure correctly.
      The other reason it happens is something a habit I call "Pre-amp creep" where everytime a Pre-amp is adjusted it is inevitably an increase in Gain rather than decrease in the channels which are Gained too much at the Pre-

      Can it be that this console doesn’t have a lot of gain on their preamps ????

    • @johnmcvicker6728

      @@miltonbobe6274offers up to 60dB of gain. I have some guitars which use a passive DI box and I give them +40. However, I just picked up an active DI to use for these and hopefully will only need +15 or so.

    • @vadjrob
      @vadjrob 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@miltonbobe6274 The preamps max at +60db of gain. I’ve never faced an input that would need that much. Additionally, if you max out the gain on an unpopulated channel, as with many preamps, that level of increase brings in a tiny bit of noise from the preamps themselves. Again, I’ve yet to max out the available gain, so I’ve never heard that noise in a mix. At that level, with most microphones, someone farting off axis would likely clip.
      The phenomenon you’ve noticed is often introduced by either the inexperience of the user with gain structuring as others have mentioned, OR the fact that in many use cases for this board you’re setting gains for people that are inexperienced at giving performance level sound checks. I’m often personally in settings where I’m mic’ing folks for the first time in their lives. Even if I don’t compensate for their timid sound check when setting gains, I rarely find myself without enough headroom to cover the difference. If you were to observe my fader levels for one of those performances, 9 times out of 10, the offending faders will be the less experienced performers. The faders at unity gain or below would be controlling the level of folks who understand the purpose of a sound check well enough to prioritize it over stage anxieties. In cases like this video, I feel sure that Drew is exaggerating fader movement to the full extent to make it more obvious that those faders were raised. I’d be willing to bet that you would rarely find a fader above unity when he’s mixing live. I hope this helps. Keep in mind that the X32 is a “pro”sumer mixer. The use cases normally match the price point closely.

    Mhh, still not a huge fan of snippets and cues. I'd much rather just load my scene and mix the show live and try to actively remember vocal and instrument parts and listen & mix as i go.
    Might be cool for for theaters tho.
    But i'll never get how some (even very professional) engineers rely so heavy on snippets during a live band performance.

    • @johnmcvicker6728
      @johnmcvicker6728 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was like that for years, then got into snippets five months ago and really wonder why I didn't do that sooner. panning, FX changes, tap delay changes, reverb tails, widths, etc. Lots you can do here. Tours use them because they help make the tour repeatable and take work off the mixer of forgetting things in cues. I think pros highly rely on these type of tools.

    • @TinoSchulz1990

      I don't do much panning on live shows. FX is pretty much the same. Except i adjust the parameters per venue. BPM values would be the only case it would make sense to me (for me). @@johnmcvicker6728

      Some of us who run the same show over and over have a good use for snippets. If you run a different act/performance every time you run sound, snippets won't really be that helpful for you.
