A very topical topic. Especially in countries next to Russia like Finland. Finland actually has similar system as Swizerland. Capability is probably not as good as in Swizerland but nonethless Finland has loads of Civil Shelters built beneath the groud in case of a war. Huge shelters and under surface tunnels are build beneath the cities in the bedrock for example in Helsinki. Also law requires that bomb shelters are built on every building of certain size. Not sure how well they can handle nukes.

Switzerland and Lichtenstein have a joined army, the currency used in Lichtenstein also is the swiss franc. Lichtenstein has his own governement thats right but economicaly they are joined as one.

You got that wrong. No, nobody takes interest in the mountains, but the reason to conquer switzerland would be 100% to have a better position to get into other countries. It's surrounded by france, italy, germany, austria, liechtenstein. Having this land would mean a tremendous advantage.
Now what was it about those mountains then?
Yeah well. Good fucking luck getting over those Mountains. They are in themselfs quite an obstacle. Combine that with a redicolous amount of military buildings (and in case of war: presence) means, that getting in there is kinda like a suicide mission. Country would be highly benefitial in tactics, but not anywhere near worth the losses it would take to invade it. So folks would rather go around.

More importantly : Switzerland doesn't have enemies. They are rich, but that's finite, no rare earth, oil or anything else. There is no way all the surrounding countries would brother up to take over Swiss. It. Especially since before the European union ALL countries except Switzerland were to occupied beating each other. It's impossible those countries form an alliance to go to war.

One in four Swiss citizens have firearms, meaning you would face resistance in almost every house. The mountains make it nearly impossible to transport tanks and other vehicles without using roads, where the Swiss could easily ambush you. The Swiss land is of great tactical value. But it would take as much or more energy to take it then it would take your enemy to take it back.

When covering the mountain ranges, the Alps are much closer to the southwest - Geneva than you highlighted. You can even see the unhighlighted area on the map. These are the French Alps and therefore in France, but they still provide a buffer, to the south and east of the city, and the Jura mountain range also extends downward along the French side of the western border, so close to the border that it provides a natural buffer throughout the area west of Geneva.
Also, over the past couple of decades Switzerland has been removing the explosive devices you mentioned at chokepoints and infrastructure locations throughout the country.

Upon watching the video in light of the current events, I really hope that there’s not going to be a World War III. On another note, even if people in Switzerland would manage to find shelters from nuclear weapons (which might save them from burning and being ripped), the radioactivity of everything above ground would remain high for a very long time that it would be impossible to avoid the effects of radioactivity. Depending on the size of the atomic bomb, they might not even see the sunlight for months.
I think that the bunkers aren't really the main protection for Switzerland but the neutrality is. You don't need to fear an nuclear attack when nobody has a reasen to shoot at you.

In addition, if a nuclear bomb explodes in France or Germany (which will be one of the main targets to hit in the event of World War 3) the radiation will easily reach Switzerland, making it impossible to become a safe place in case of war.
@@RodrigoVasconcelos86 It will surely depend on the size of the bomb, the exact target and the wind situation which normally is that the wind is blowing to the east and north. So the possibility that high radiation levels are avoided is quite high.

It's really pathetic when I live in the richest and most powerful country on Earth and I am jealous of a country that cares enough about its people (and potential refugees) enough to make sure there are bunkers for all. We can't even get healthcare for all. But here we are in March 2022 and with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the potential for nuclear annihilation, I really wish I had access to one of those bunkers. I are skurred 😨😱

I know this isn't only in Switzerland, but I think it's amazing how the "Swiss President" just walks through the city alone with no bodyguards or anything. In fact, I saw him almost every morning in the Bus when I went to school. It's quite cool that this is possible!
