The pettiness of Empress Kojun and the Royal family coupled with Michiko's father's matrimonial refusal is a love story for the ages. There was nothing common about Empress Michiko. If there happen to be another in her likeness the world would be twice as bright. The Crown Prince was struck by lightning and found a pot of gold all on the the same day when he met this beautiful lady. Forgive me. The sharp pangs of jealousy runs though my veins. Great work. Impressive success. Thank you ma'am.
She is so beautiful. Even in old age with grey hair, she still has great beauty. I have watched her over the years and she has always shown respect for Emperor Akihito when in the public eye. Finally, she is able to ''retire'' and live a quiet life. A totally lovely woman. Long may she and the former Emperor live happy, healthy and long lives in retirement.
A life without tragedy, heartbreak, trials and tribulations is not a life well lived. British and Japanese royals live an unfullfilled life. Being pampered on everything. They suddenly wake up and they are already 80 years old. Michiko would have much preferred being a commoner if she looks back at it now.
Be hated by mother in law ??? Well, actually that's happened almost at every family. No matter commoner or noble family, no matter poor or rich, it's a human nature.
Nah its not normal bro it just shows how sick the mother in law is like why would u feel jealous of YOUR SON’s wife? There’s no logical reason for that and not all mothers in law r like that for it to be considered “normal” and “human nature”
Honestly, this story is so sad. I read a historical novel years ago about her that ended in the premise of a granddaughter (I think) that she sent away from Japan to escape the criticism of the royal lifestyle. This is, unfortunately, a very common problem in royal marriages where the spouse is just a regular person
I was getting Princess Diana vibes throughout this video. People always seem to love fairytale and how they would one day wish to be married to royals and stuff like that but the moment a commoner enters the Royal family everyone starts to attack her just because of her status
In her case though she didn’t actually want to become a royal and had initially turned down the emperor when he proposed to her. She was fully aware of just how difficult her life would become if she were to marry into the Royal family. Hence she refused him. However, the emperor didn’t give up one bit and kept continuing to propose to her until she finally broke down and agreed. She married him under the promise that he will protect her and be her ally no matter what. While he may not have fulfilled all his promises he did his very best. Both the Royal Family and government officials were heavily against Empress Michiko directly raising her children instead of leaving them to a nursemaid like all the other royal family members. The Emperor respected his wife’s decision and stood by her all the way. It definitely wasn’t some romantic fantastic fairytale but what they have is something they desperately worked hard to build. For me that is something to be respected and admired.

The Japanese royal family were stripped of their wealth in the wake of WWII. The emperor and his wife used Michikos very wealthy family as an ATM. Their financial demands were so unrelenting that one of Michikos uncles was driven to suicide.
That's true. Japan's Imperial Family literally has no money because the Constitution only gave the power of the purse to the Japanese government. Unfortunately for the Japanese government, the collapse of the Japanese assets bubble resulted in the most dramatic power-wealth transfer in history. The transfer of Japanese national wealth and power into the Bank of Japan, while this Bank is privatized and controlled by the FED and American financiers. Technically, Japanese political elites and Imperial Family hold no money and power since Americans permanently seized all of them for good.
But nowadays, she has become a demon. She bullies her eldest son's family in various ways, but pleases the family of her second son (born from her affair named "Anzai") and neglects her younger daughter. She lived a lavish and well-dressed life, but looked at her youngest daughter like a servant's child. She used her dark power to harm her eldest son's family, especially Princess Masako, and her granddaughter Princess Aiko (what kind of grandmother would blow her own ear to tell her 16-year-old grandson to leave the royal family just because she didn't like her mother and would find a new woman for her father). As for the second son's family, he was full of spoilers (he only did bad things, but he didn't care)

Relationships with in-laws aren't necessarily pleasant, to say the least. Empress Emerita Michiko's biggest hurdle was that she was the first ever "commoner" crown prince consort. Before her, consorts post 645 A.D. had come from either a royalty or from one of the Fujiwara families who had ruled the court for over a millennia (with very few exceptions). For someone outside of that to become the crown prince consort, especially a non-noble (although nobility was abolished after WW2) upset a lot of the royal consorts, who at the very least were from a noble. Her mother-in-law, Empress Kojun, may seem like an ideal example of a royal consort, a daughter of a royal household. However, she herself was subject to controversy regarding her engagement to Emperor Showa (then Crown Prince Hirohito) as her maternal lineage was suspected of colorblindness. She herself was also said to have been in awkward terms with her mother-in-law, Empress Teimei. Empress Teimei was born to her father's concubine, and was raised until Age 4 with a farmer's family. The reason why she was chosen as Emperor Taisho's consort was because unlike previous emperors, Emperor Taisho would only have one consort with no concubines in order to match their western counterparts. The government wanted a healthy women who would bear many children as Emperor Meiji, her father-in-law, had 10 of his 15 children die in infancy, a majority due to Meningitis. Emperor Taisho himself was no exception, as he was marred with illnesses from his infancy, and would delegate his powers to his crown prince Hirohito for the final 5 years of his reign, passing away at age 47. Empress Teimei, raised on a farm and surrounded by nature, was described to have been a tough and smart woman, which is said to have clashed with Empress Kojun's slow and mild, royalty-like nature even until her final years. To the contrary, Empress Teimei was said to have the most respect for Naruko Yanagihara, Emperor Taisho's biological mother (but not her mother-in-law). After her passing, Empress Teimei is said to have visited her deathbed, held her hand, and told her that she had been able to come so far without much trouble because of her. Yanagihara was one of her 6 teacher's that taught her imperial manners and rules upon her engagement to the crown prince. What is ironic is that Yanagihara's niece, Akiko (better known by her poet pseudonym Byakuren), who had infamously run off from political marriage to pursue a romantic relationship with a social activist who was not from nobility, protested vehemently against Michiko's marriage saying that it was out of line with tradition, even to the point where there were rumors alleging that she was trying to incite right-wing groups to stop the engagement. The current Empress, Masako, might not had the worst in terms of relationship with in-laws, but has had her more-than fair share of hardship as she was diagnosed with adjustment disorder in 2004, which dramatically decreased her public appearances. Being a Harvard grad with a degree in mathematical economics as well as a former diplomat by profession, there is said to have been a rift between her and the traditionalist Imperial Household Agency. She had not spoken to the media for 17 years until 2020, during the coronation.

The Japanese considered the Imperial family as Gods. That this level of hubris persists is not hard to beleive. The eligible brides, according to courtiers, was tiny. Michiko sacrificed a normal life for the Prince. Her suffering was immense.

I want to tell this young lady, how wrong she is about the princess. She did not have an abortion, she miscarried from all the stress. So there is a big difference. They get these people who supposedly speak English, but there is a loss in translation.
Royal and nobles are so petty. They're holding on to success and prestige of previous generations. Many without anything to show for their titles. Just happen to be born.
Empress Konju was born a noble, her father was the prine of kuni and she and Hirohito are cousin. Hirohito father was plague of ill health through out his life, Emperor Meiji, Hirohito paternal grandfather have 15 children, but all of his children with his empress died of stillborn, miscarriage and infant death, only 5 of his children from his concubine survived, one of them was Emperor Taisho. Michiko however was not a close relative to the royal, her father was the japanese 1st noodle company owner. Michiko doesn't know a lot about royal protocol, onlybthe basic. However Empress Kojun still detested Michiko for her informal protocol and always scolded her.
Although I like my countries royal family, well some, not all, I would not like the life they have to live at all. I'd sooner be the slightly poor me, as I am and always have been. Money doesn't bring happiness, its who is around you.

Having your way at the cost of someone elses mental and physical health truly shows what narcistists members of tthe royal families are.mind you i wouldve thought theyd be happy to break off the inbreeding thats caused the ruination of many other royal families. The sheer fact not once did anyone stop the dowager empress from the deliberate persecutions against her DIL says alot
The Empress Emeritus is the most elegant and beautiful royal woman in the world. No one comes close to her but for the Queen Mother of Thailand in her day.

Sounds like the Japanese royal family is dysfunctional. Three generations of abused woman, the most recently the current empress and princess Mako have experienced PTSD. Very sad.

I am not surprised, Asian monarch families are often crueler to their royal commoner family members than western royal families, if you watch Chinese, Korean, and Thailand soap dramas about their royal families you can get a pretty good idea of how the royal family member and those coming from aristocratic backgrounds treat commoners and those they saw beneath them, Michiko story is just like princess Diana, the only difference is that Michiko was not killed by them, I feel sorry that Michiko had to deal with what looks like a mother-in-law from hell! the fact that her husband sat there and let his family bully his wife is what pissed me off the most, but what else can you expect from royalty.

The Japanese considered the Imperial family as Gods. That this level of hubris persists is not hard to beleive.
The eligible brides, according to courtiers, was tiny. Michiko sacrificed a normal life for the Prince. Her suffering was immense.
Her story reminds me in part, to Lady Diana's plight.
Big differences though. The Japanese couple were truly in love. Charles was/is in love with another.
Michiko was faithful to her husband, she did not indulge is a serious of affairs with other men, including some married, as did Diana.
@@sariel8406 True. That is why I said, "in part" to Lady Diana's.
It should not be the same as Princess Diana. The Japanese people were deceived by this fairy tale. We Japanese are now aware that it was a complete mistake.
Poor lady, so much grit. Didnt the husband protect her?
Only as themselfs can they do their best for their contry sad to hear the struggels they whent thru remided me a bit about the king and queen of norways story
What a piece of work for a mother in law. god love her for having to deal with that nasty woman for her whole married life. I hope her husband was worth it and there for her.
Such a common story. This kind of shit happens to normal people with rich and poor family too.
and the same cycle was repeated on Empress Masako...but a worse outcome for Empress Masako.
@@iliandietcoke ~ from a highly respected, educated diplomat reduced to being made to feel inferior and ridiculed because she could not give an heir….
Can we appreciate how PRETTY she is?? Like the royal family does NOT deserve her
Pitiful. She was beautiful and elegant. It's a pity she's not given the choice to practice her choice of faith. Royal family, rich family, famous family, are difficult ones with protocols and public image ..well public opinions are also blamed for putting stress to these kind of marriage.
wonderful love story of the EMPEROR and the EMPRESS !
What does have to do the title with the narrative? Who, why and when bullied the Empress?
Her mother in law
That last image, he looks like he’s farted and hasn’t told anyone.
Well,
Princess Diana, and Meghan MARKLE, also claimed they were bullied by the Royal family.
so, I guess it's very common thing.
This reminds me of some of the problems the modern duchess of Sussex and even Empress Michiko’s grand daughter faced. Who in their right mind would want to marry into any so called royal family!
Meghan markles should not be mentioned in the same breath as these brave coursgeous ladies, will be a grave insult to them.
Mm is a hypocrite and a liar, who tries to take advantage of the royal family. Harry a pimp.
@@kongakau5058 do you know Meghan, have you ever meet her, may God help you, your writing ✍️ gives me a window into your soul, evil 👿.
@@besentabradford3127 ... and your thinking tells me you are hopelessly misinformed re Meghan Markle. She is a self-agrandizing narcissistic hypocrite. Her interview was filled with no less than 17 inaccuracies, half-truths, and outright lies. She uses people to meet her own selfish ends and once they have served her purpose, she cuts them off. So... don't believe anthing she says or does. There's a scheme behind it!
@@besentabradford3127 she has shown her soul to the whole world, who would open their eyes, ears and heart!!!!

@@besentabradford3127 Meghan suffer a lot by the institution and her husband family. I think Meghan might end up the same like Diana if they don't choose to leave the family. Just seeing what Diana gone through despite her British royal lineages, so no doubt the same thing or the worse things might happen to Meghan as mixed race, divorced, and commoner.
What Meghan and Harry did is just the other confirmation of the real face of that institution as Diana said. If that's not okay for Diana, why it's okay for Meghan? Double standard.
Tbh, I'm not supporting Meghan and Harry decision to go public and talk about the family issues. In another hand, If I'm in Meghan position, as the person who always get blamed and humiliated by the Media, the people and their own family. The pain is unbearable, I might want the world knows as well, behind the scene which is the truth
Unfortunately, some of us have endured them.....Mother's in Law from Hades...!
She wasn't that strict about being a Catholic if she had an abortion!
I want to tell this young lady, how wrong she is about the princess. She did not have an abortion, she miscarried from all the stress. So there is a big difference. They get these people who supposedly speak English, but there is a loss in translation.
She is so beautiful. I read she was Catholic. She turned into shinto for hirohito
Palace politics usually are very difficult.
lately news about history of royals have been famous in social media
Would you do one on Charles Lightoller from Titanic please?
Although I like my countries royal family, well some, not all, I would not like the life they have to live at all. I'd sooner be the slightly poor me, as I am and always have been. Money doesn't bring happiness, its who is around you.
When they were old they look like twins! X
I mean, the Empress was a Catholic before her marriage. She gave that up for him, and she pretty much left a normal life just to be with him.
Pass!!
If he actually loved her he would have let her go .
3:20 It was a miscarriage, not abortion!
Abortion? Or miscarriage? There's a difference.
I think the most wicked are not within the imperial family, but the people who surrounds them.
The Empress Emeritus is the most elegant and beautiful royal woman in the world. No one comes close to her but for the Queen Mother of Thailand in her day.
The most elegant lady ever.
Remind me of Princess Diana. :( The royal family was very cold to her. They might have despised her or something. The royal family must know that the status can not be taken for granted.
Wow this was so similar to Lady Diana that I thought this was going to end in the tunnel
Or one on the lady Leonie Gilmour?
🎉
Queen michiko is also royal family second cousin of his husband emperor 🤣
Just like Princess Diana... 💔
Poor lady
Did she not graduate from Harvard?
Sounds like the Japanese royal family is dysfunctional. Three generations of abused woman, the most recently the current empress and princess Mako have experienced PTSD. Very sad.
"from the royal family." Lol, so you are gonna cycle the blood? You know what happens with in breeding yet you wanna make Akihito marry within the royal family? 😂
I like Empress Michiko tbh, she's pretty and classy. And I like Akihito for standing up for his woman. Also they are so touchy even in heir advance age, he would always assist and stop and look back to wait for her. I am a fan of these two.
Sounds familiar isnt it?
🇹🇷 I love Japan
Honestly, “Royal Families “ is so outdated since very soon you and I can travel into space if we can afford the tickets.
it's far from being outdated. as rome is ruled by republic in BC times.
The evil dowager empress sent her daughter in law something she must wear but mustn’t wear. Pure malice.
Do you know the word "imperial"?
So the rich Elitist was bullied by another rich Elitist. I'm so mad.....

🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
So the death is only solution for some human beings
