you got a superb tourist guide! not many ppl can explain or bring you guys to all these places. there are even places which you guys brought into i was not even aware of. hope you enjoyed your stay in KL.
Greetings from Ottawa! I follow you guys almost from day one or your early days of travel journey, I even bought you guys “coffee” OMG, Chow Kit wet market! I used to go there with my Mum, I was a tiny wee bit boy helping my Mum with her grocery shopping. I could still smell the market, the spices, meat, fish and the hustle and bustle of the market. Chow Kit used to be notorious for drugs and night solicitations (know what I mean)? I moved to Canada in my twenties and completely forgotten Chow Kit and I am in my late 50’s now. This makes me cry just thinking of my Mum!
@@leemarvingaye4506 Chow kit also was a red light district. Me & my friends were at our 20’s drove around chow kit at night to disturb those working ladies 😅 I’m not sure it still exist now ? Your mom is in a good place , she’s watching & talking to you from time to time…. Your heart will know whenever she’s with you ! ❤️
Kopi ais is the best drink, no latte can challenge a traditional kopi. There's so much great food around chow kit and during lunch we just walkabout to our fave lunch spots
32:51 That's a mural of Sudirman btw, great singer and artist. He had songs about Chow Kit Road and he had a free concert there back in 1986, it was huge.
such luck to have that guy showed you around, this is honestly how we as locals eat. not the overpriced touristy areas, these places are much more better value in terms of price and the actual taste
😊 i love it when tourist have a taste of real Malaysians cuisine and immersed in the local vibes and culture out of typical tourist thing to do list. Even in Kuala Lumpur / Klang Valley there are so much to explore than malls and skyscrapers 😊
That painting/mural at minutes 32:52 is of Sudirman Hj Arshad. He's Malaysia top singer/entertainer during the 80s. He did an free open air concert in Chow Kit in 1986.
Speaking of yummy foods in both Malaysia 🇲🇾 and Singapore 🇸🇬, you must try the PANDAN CAKE as it also goes very well with the KAYA TOAST and KOPI (coffee). In both Malaysia 🇲🇾 and Singapore 🇸🇬, there are several kinds of KOPI - KOPI A, KOPI B, KOPI C, and KOPI C KOSO.
😂 my favourite childhood snacks (icing cookies), i always getting scolded by my mom because i only eat the topping and leaving the cookies in the jar 😂😂
Wow! i must explore chowkit now ! Haha so cute you ate with your hand, nice blending in to the local culture, i should try too 😛 The condense milk is the King of the drinks here ... to die for 🤤
Amazing video. Do explore outside kl and visit like some hidden cultural sites. You can visit St Peter church in Melaka, oldest functioning church in malaysia
The hotel has this British colonial vibe. Chase looks like a British colonial gentleman himself actually. And I like Shelb enthusiasm in trying all the food. Talking about sweets, if Shelb liked the Cendol, she would love Air Batu Campur or ABC for short. It is shaved iced + nuts + sweet syrup + corn syrup + jelly + kidney beans + ice cream on top. "Air Batu" means ice, "Campur" means mix, so it is a mix of all those stuff with ice.
Hi, if / whenever you have the time and chance while in Malaysia 🇲🇾, get booked up on a tour to the very best of the Malaysian Rubber Tree plantation. Up on the hills, Malaysia is said to have plentiful of rubber trees. See if you can join a tour….
FYI, this hotel was first a hospital, then it was a hotel called Selesa inn if I am not mistaken, and recently a budget hotel called Tune Hotel (owned by Air Asia)
We love to stay in kampung baru, + tried all of those yummy foods. It’s just a quick walk across saloma bridge from kampung baru to KLCC 👌 We love Pudu area too where there is a chinese presence + lots of kopitiams.
We don't have sweet murtabak. That is an Indonesian thing. we have a sweet peanut pan cake called apam balik. But well done to the guide. At least wanjo is not in one of the locations for this.
this is the first video i watch of travellers going into the local part of kuala lumpur. chow kit used to be the red zone, prostitutions. but slowly eradicated into more modern and clean area
Nice channel, for covering the locals’ lifestyle, although the foods could be less fancy compared to those in tourist spots, and the routes might little bumpy and wet, and hot.
You can't find condensed milk in Malaysia. It had been replaced by palm oil based sweetened creamer. You may order your drink with evaporated milk instead ie kopi-c or tea-c
Not sure if this was the old hospital location 🤣 Food generally tastes better if you eat with your hands ❤ That little grade 1 snack is my favourite very nostalgic ❤ The wrapped up flower should be bunga kantan locals call it they are usually cooked in nasi kerabu
32 years ago when I was studying at a college nearby, this building was a medical centre @ hospital..........in which for KL's people knowledge, it was a haunted hospital.....I'm not entirely sure but I believe..........waakakakakakaka
In KL (Chow kit Road) many foreigners such as Indonesians, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, etc. work and do small businesses.. I think KL is a paradise for foreigners to earn a living.. KL is too much.
You had capati's for breakfast, but they were flipping roti canai's in the front. "Roti canai" (pronounced: "chanai") is the Malaysian equivalent of a "prata" anywhere else.
It isn’t enough foodie tour in KL if you didn’t complete your meals from the breakfast, lunch, tea break (afternoon), dinner, and supper…that’s how routine Malaysians did…
Hmm ... I guess it must have been a totally different world for you with the food here. What'd be your take on Malaysian music, I wonder. So far, no travel vlogger did that before.

In Malaysia if someone gets food poisoning if the victim repots they gets close down for investigation for 2 weeks at least, also for rats and cockroaches or maybe ants and too much flys all the dirty critters. It has been happened many times here in one of the restaurant in Ipoh but people still flock there even someone took a helicopter to buy from them !! LOL. I don't want to say name here we Malaysians who knows know lah.
You are the last vloggers to capture chow kit market before being demolished. Not sure what will replace it. Another skyscraper? Indonesians there could be illegal traders. Hence the new market will make sure only malaysians are allowed. Illegal traders or workers will be excluded.
From what i heard its a new programmed done by DBKL to modernize the street foods to make it more clean, modern and attractive. At the sime time get rid of illegal tenants & foods vendors.
We need to move on from old building, old broken system because government before PMX lacked in maintaining many of those building. Now this is the best time to gets it fixed & modernized it. We as Malaysian citizens must be more cooperative helping our government so they can do all their job faster.
Owh no..the thumbnail and title of the video..! I hope our neighboring country will not get offended if they saw that cendol and "real Malaysian food" and "authentic" words 🤭
I bet the first restaurant was pakistani. The style of cooking and of making chai resembles pakistani style. And pakistani food is superior in flavour to indian food so there's that.
You need to make a trip to east coast states Kelantan & Terengganu, do a bit of research, not much good & authentic food you can find especially in KL & Penang lol...dont trust if people recommend you KL or Penang...this is the biggest misconceptions about Malaysia among tourist...most of you guys got brainwashed..entire East Coast is the REAL FOOD HEAVEN trust me...
