Yes you can, but you also have a Center console that can hold some too. Lets not forget the ash tray area, the glove compartment and windshield washer Tank.. LMAO No Drinking and Driving
Excellent Short Cut ! much thanks ! (~);} I'll be using that ! others said - The speedo is being held in place by the speedo cable. Did you disconnect that? Typically you need to remove the clock or tach and reach through that hole to unclip the speedo cable from the back of the speedometer. Then the speedo should pull out. Also be aware that there is still a harness connector plugged into the back of the speedo, so be gentle when pulling it out.
Yes i did pull it out by first disengaging the Harness. some of the indicator lights would not work, too much corrosion. I soaked the Bulb fixtures in Contact cleaner for a couple of minutes and reinstalled. Also one of the fingers on the speedo was not making contact and had to re-solder to the board on speedo.
This is not true of a 68 or 69 model. On these models there is no face to remove. You would have to remove the entire dash pad to have full access, otherwise you must access the bulbs and speedometer cable from under the dash.
Thank you for posting, quick question, do you know the name of the floor shifter you have? Mines the same and the shift cable linkage broke, hope you can help with the name 👍
Thanks! Gonna try this on my 71 442.
Great video and great work thanks for posting!
Thanks
Very hepful. Thank you!
you welcome
You could put a hinge on that clock and face plate and hide a 6 pack back there. Great video!

Original Parts Group will have it. I have Nick from NJ that I buy used Oldsmobile parts also. I’m not sure what floor shifter is called.?
@@hondowarrior7270 thank you for getting back to me so quickly, I'll check them out
Can the speaker be replaced through the clock entrance? My speaker is blown or broke. I have 69 442
That's my next project but I think it can be done with the right tools and a camera or mirror.
Thanks. HOw do you get the dash pad off? Looks more difficult than a chevelle.
Tom, I haven't done that. but if you find out let me know.. yes the Chevelle is a much easier dash to take off.
68 & 69 are different
