Great explanation of everything and well presented, thank you. I've also found it incredibly useful (before the belt is removed) to index the belt and pulleys with tipex. Once the belt is off line it up against the new belt and put tipex in the same positions. When you come to put the new belt on, you can line up the tipex marks on the belt and pulleys to make sure everything is tooth perfect.
I'm going to give this a go soon. Im getting a p0336 error, and from another source, I found that that's generally not always the sensor, but can be the crank gear/timer and the hal magnets that get read by the sensor. I've got myself a magnetic film to check to see if this is the case, but I'm not entirely sure how to remove the crank gear that the pulley sits on. Is there any specific way or method I should use to do that?
Thanks for such a positive response, this was a fun video to film. So you must be referring to my battery ratchet. This is one of my favourite tools. It's part of Snap-Ons 14V battery range in extreme green. They do so many pother useful tools such as the 3/8 battery gun (my favourite). I'll put links to both for you below but definitely worth every penny. shop.snapon.com/product/CTR762-Series-14.4-V-MonsterLithium-Ratchets/14.4-V-3-8%22-Drive-MicroLithium-Cordless-Ratchet-(One-Battery)-(Red)/CTR762W1 shop.snapon.com/product/CT861-Series-14.4-V-MicroLithium-Brushless-Cordless-Impact-Wrenches-Drivers/14.4-V-3-8%22-Drive-MicroLithium-Cordless-Impact-Wrench-(One-Battery)-(Green)/CT861GW1
Hi, so Gates would have been the brand to recommend. I’ve used a lot Gates belts and I’ve had no issues with them at all. HOWEVER, these belts and water pumps are so regularly changed that I’d go to your nearest Audi dealership. From experience, an extra £20/£30 will get you a genuine kit. We used to fit genuine all the time and still kept the job within a budget. Thanks for getting in touch and for your support. All the best
So no getting the inner part of the mount off or how to actually work the lower cover off. Manual is useless. I got to taking the lower cover off and then had to give up coz i cant work out how to remove the mount bit to release the lower cover.

How did you manage to get the wiring harness off at 12:56 in the video? Struggling to get the plastic dowel out. Thanks

Is there any specific locator notches I have to worry about on the crank pulley or does it just bolt on?
Is the ford focus 1.5 tdci belt or chain driven?
