"They're gonna look at you like you got a light coming from the inside". What a great turn of phrase. The term for that, by the way, is 'effulgent'. Got to love the poets among us who take their job seriously enough to keep it light.
I love the line about the kids being able to see Loretta's light, but Raylan's words and forceful tone reminded me of an interaction I once had with a college police officer who told me I could call her if I ever needed to talk. Telling someone they can call you if they're ever in trouble or need to talk should not have an expiration date.
Credit to the actress (we all knew she was a juggernaut on this show…even opposite to Sam Elliott). …but Olyphant got to show his range here, too: the way he spoke to a moody, traumatized teenager was incredibly well done. Dismantling her critiques without judging her, and assuaging her doubts without hesitation. It’s a dead horse; but the show is fantastic.
We hardly saw his biological daughter on the show. Would have seemed weird to me if she lived with him full time and we didn't see his actual on-show family.
He knew he wasn't equipped to be a parent at the time (he was living in a motel, etc.). What bothered me was that it seemed like his whole "call me if you're in trouble" thing had an expiration date. He was the only person she trusted and his tone and words made it clear that he would no longer be there for her. It gave me a sense of comfort than an authority figure told a struggling person that she could depend on him so this scene almost made me cry (it also triggered bad memories).
He takes more of a "big brother" role with her as the series goes on but the whole point of Loretta in season 2 was to show that Raylan can be a good father and that he doesn't have to worry about turning into his father, so you could say that he's like a surrogate father to her at this point in the show

Raylan and Loretta's dynamic was incredible.
She is one of the most talented actresses I’ve ever seen on Justified and with Tim Allen!
Tim Allen?
@ yes! She played his daughter on his show.

top-notch writing and acting

Kaitlyn nailed her character.........
"I aint a kid"...
Loretta, as a character, all I can think to say is, that poor girl 🫂😞
Damn her and Raylan have almost the same “ parents “
Writing of this Show and of course Olyphant and Goggins
poignant scene from this great series
Timothy olyphant is the most handsome man in the world!!!
Sad
Why didn't Raylan adopt her? Is there an actual reason why he couldn't or did it just never occur to the writers that it made perfect sense.

She will be Abby in The Last of Us 2 !!!! 🙌
Relationship?

He saved her from a Crazy family whose adopted her
In reality, this never would have happened. Tim HATES teenagers. Even back when I saw him on The Girl Next Door I could sense his disdain for teens.
Bullshit.
Do we have a personal relationship with the actor?
I hate to break it to you buttercup, but this ain't reality. It's a damn show!
He was acting in that movie 🤦. Also, why would a person who hates teenagers choose to have three kids?
