Never heard of Walter Goggins before this show and cannot forget him after. One of my all-time favorite TV characters. Boyd Crowder is one of the best acting jobs I have ever seen. Nothing beats a well-acted villain who sincerely loves and enjoys being bad, and not in the modern sense when bad guys enjoy making people suffer. Outlaws as opposed to sadists.

Walton Goggins owned every scene he was in. Long about season 5, I almost forgot the show’s main character was Raylon Givens. Boyd Crowder was such a powerful protagonist and Walton Goggins made the character come to life.
Justified is what you get with a cast hired for their talent and not anything else and also a group of amazing writers and production staff. Throw all these points in the pot and out comes an amazing series.
I first saw Walton Goggins when he was a young man on "In the Heat of the Night" and he was underrated even back then. He has the ability to command every scene he is in. Always a joy to watch him work. He's one of those actors where you find yourself saying, "If Walton Goggins is in it, it can't possibly be bad." And you're never disappointed.
His portrayal of Boyd Crowder is among the most powerful acting performances I have seen in my 70 years. The writing of this show is tightest I’ve ever seen. You never see a character saying or doing anything that’s inconsistent with their characters make up. And the secondary characters are wonderful especially Dewey Crowe and Dickie Bennett. Art, Argo, Tim and Racheal were great as well. I think this is the best television I ever watched.
Very rare and impossible now.. Every character fitted their role just as if they were real people.. Unlike now were they chose the race and sexuality before hand for diversity and then just give them the role... Makes now sense but it makes the Woke happy...
Walton talks about a bond formed when you go through a trauma together. When I was in High School, the entire cheerleading squad was killed in a plane crash returning from state BB tournament. We grieved together and we still carry that with us after more than 50 years. We've memorialized them in more ways than one. It's a shared experience that binds us together.
"Justified" ranks right up there with the best TV dramas of our time, and Walton Goggins contributed greatly to making it so. It would have been a very different show without him.
He and Chiklis were pretty brutal villains in the Shield, but Boyd Crowder is indeed a masterpiece. This was one of my top series of all time, but far and away the greatest series conclusion in TV history.
I laughed so much when Boyd said that, and Raylan's reply, "so I've been told" is equally as funny and definitely on point for something each character would say and the way they would say it. It was(like many other scenes on this show) just beautifully organic and naturally what you'd expect them to say to each other. And it really boils down to the connection the actors have as real life friends AND the connection the characters have because "they dug coal" together. And sometimes a job like that brings you to treat someone like a real life sibling even more so than your actual siblings. I used to work in a steel mill. Using tongs to feed nickel into a rolling mill to shape the hot metal into whatever the order called for. It was very hard work, sometimes the bars could weigh several hundred pounds and we had to work together to get the job done. There were days that I could've killed some of the guys I worked with. But every day was a day of do whatever needed to keep them safe, and I'm certain they'd have done the same for me. Something about hard work that brings people together in a way that can't be explained other than "we dug coal together" or "we rolled metal together"....... it's kinda the same difference. If you get what I'm saying.
I didn't like Boyd more, but the chemistry that Timothy and Walton had was incredible. Rylan as the straight to the point man and the way Boyd stringed words together was awesome.
The writing of Justified along with his performance is so good that you start rooting for him. Am I the only one? Last year I watched it again and I'm sure in few years I'll do it another time.

The reason the show was great is that every character was multi-dimensional. The bad guys all had motivations, they weren't just bad just because. Raylan actually showed empathy for many of the bad guys and treated them with at least some respect...before he shot them.
Once when I lived in Atlanta, me and my girlfriend at the time had the pleasure of Goggins briefly leaving his entourage to drop by our table to say hello. A great actor who is very down to earth and personal.
I think part of what made Goggins so good in this role is that he comes from this part of the world. He can go to places in that character that other actors can't.
