Great vid, Finn! I have enjoyed hearing your thoughts, your reflections, your revelations, and your healthy look forward! The statement about expectations and resentment makes a lot of sense; one I'll be chewing on for some time. I'm so sorry to hear about your gerbil buds; sad to lose any of them. Do you plan to adopt new ones? Give Nat a hug and enjoy your summer. 15 days till my top surgery!!! Talk soon...

Thank you Evan! That statement has saved me from a lot of resentment and disappointment! And yes, we plan to have some new fur balls later in the year. All the very best of luck for yr surgery my friend!

Love the sloth in the corner... but honestly great video as usual. I can relate at this point in my life with the fear. I feel like that is where i am frozen in fear.

Thats Neil, Nats new friend :) ! Fear is awful and very difficult to manage and hold us back from the person we want to be. There is a great book called "feel the fear and do it anyway" I highly recommend it, has helped me in my journey of overcoming crippling anxiety

You're right about the long wait being detrimental. It's done a bit backwards here in the UK. I had to wait longer than most, about 3 years. Longer than that really, but i'm going from since my name change to T. so 3 years because of waiting lists and complicated issues. I was severely deprssed, they said i was too depressed basically when i went to see them years ago now, and i hadn't changed my name etc. Thing is for a while it really made me worse, wanting to kill myself and all that. If you're not deemed ready, they discharge you from the clinic and then tell you to refer yourself back when you're doing better! At least they did to me in 2010! I'm on T now, but i've been through hell and back to get here. It almost killed me.

Thats awful to hear my friend, that makes no sense that they discharged you. Starting T, as long as you are supported, usually clears up depression and other mental health issues. Crazy how they treated you. Im so glad you are out the other saide mate. Onwards and upwards!

Bless you my friend. Hold the faith that it will get better and in the meantime, lots of self care. I have a vlog with tips to manage the wait which might help? th-cam.com/video/xfAoqJvANCY/w-d-xo.html

Great video! I appreciate hearing your insights, in the articulate way you express them. As a guy who's just started T, it's cool to hear all this.

Finn...is that a sloth behind you? 0_0 Lol.
I think I know what you mean re: perceiving female voices/mannerisms differently, bit weird, wonder if our hearing is affected by T so we're more sensitive to certain pitches(?) Congrats on 1 year and 2 months, mate!

Lol that is indeed a sloth! Nat absolutely loves Neil the sloth from the sofaworks ad...so I bought her one as a thank you for her help in my grumpy revision month!!! Thanks mate, time flies when yr having a shot in the bum eh??!!! And I wonder the same thing about our hearing, maybe we become more pitch sensitive? It is odd!

    Hello Lovely.
    Quick Q:
I’m One year and 2 months now!
Cast your mind back if you can…
Even though your voice had already dropped here - were you having any problems with volume/pushing it out?
For me, speaking feels tight and like a real strain and it’s deep - about the same as yours here - but not much volume… like i can’t project it much.
Did you have any of these issues and if so did you find any info on it or do you have any tips for improving it? Or is it just a waiting game?
Many Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Love
    :-)

Hey my friend! God yes, it took me ages to be able to project my voice and I hated noisy environments as my voice would be so tired afterwards from having to push it out to raise the volume!
For me, it began to properly settle at about 2 years, and I was finding it a lot more natural to then project it. I attended a voice workshop not that long ago and they explained that with our voices, as everything has already developed theres not much room for manover in there, to give room for the new length in the voice box muscles and the thickness of them so it can take a while to relearn to use the voice.
Its about correctly breathing more than anything as a deeper voice needs to start in the tummy whereas higher register voices start in the top of the chest so its about learning to talk from the stomach if that makes sense??!Concentrate on breathing the words out right from the gut.....I hope that makes sense to you!!!
