FTM Lower Surgery Questions | Appointment with Mr Christopher

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ก.ย. 2024
- This week I had an appointment with Mr Christopher at St Peters Andrology Centre London to ask some general questions about ftm lower surgery options. This is not an official referral as yet, but just a chance to meet and ask some questions regarding metoidioplasty and phalloplasty in order to help me decide which lower surgery option might be best for me.

Thank you for making these videos. Really helpful while waiting for surgery
I am very glad they are so helpful! I hope you dont have long to wait! If you need any mre resources, I have a website over at finlaygames.com
Doesnt get any easier bro does it! I honestly feel that this is going to be the most difficult part of transition. A whole year minimum of being pretty much an invalid scares me big time! I think sometimes that in some situations there can never be 100 percent certainty behind the decision and choices we have to make. Its just one big gamble really. Where i am at at the moment is that i know that i 100% need phalloplasty to be happy. And thats as far as i have got!
Oh mate Im glad its not just me! My poor head is just so whirlygig with all this!!! It will be a rough year, but one year (ish) is likely worth it in the long run? I think??!!! Oh goooooooooodnessss meeee!!!!! Im not sure I could live comfortably without it now, theres two much of a missmatch between my top and lower half....aaaaarrrrrg!!! I have at least ruled out meta.....mostly...so i will work this out eventually! Cheers for your comments mate, is just good to know Im not alone
I really love this video. I love the honesty of your uncertainty and your willingness to speak up about that actually being a POSITIVE thing!!! Questions and concerns are a sign of discernment!!! I've been adding your videos to my phalloplasty playlist. Thank you for sharing.
Meiko Elias Such kind comments, thanks so much my friend. And yes I agree!
Perspectives and feelings about lower surgery are very scarce. I'm really thankful for you sharing your thoughts so freely.
Also, I know this is super old and you are at stage 3 phallo now, but these videos give me so much hope. I feel like I'm mentally at where you were in this video. And to know that you are now at stage 3 phallo, it makes me excited for my future.
Hey my friend, that makes me happy to hear, lower surgery is one very tough journey but so far it has been very worth it, despite the pain, frustration and setback of stage 3. I do not regret my choice at all and I am very glad i took the time to research and be sure in order to be mentally prepared to go through this. All the very best of luck to you my friend. Drop me a message any time if I can help in any way
FinnTheInfinncible thanks so much Finn 😃
Finn, just continue to process this. I remember a video I watched today that my good buddy said to make a decision about what you want because it's no bodies journey but your own.
I'm about in the same situation. I've heard good and bad. Dr. Crane here in the USA says the internet pictures don't do a lot of the surgeons justice and many don't show a year two year down the road how they end up really looking like.
We have our own individual journeys and bodies that will not react like others.
Take your time to process it. I do agree that if one is going to do it one should get the whole action
play with it, lol.
My ears are always here to listen.
Ethan
Thanks so much my friend for your wise thoughts. I am being very balanced with this, weighing up the options and remaining focused on what I want, although I really value views and experiences and really need as many as I can get right now, at the same time Im being careful to make sure I am not influenced by any outside sources. Its the same here with pictures, there are few that show completion down the road but the ones I have found look very good and so does the arm graft. I am just talking and reflecting and searching and I know I will arrive at the right decision for me in time, I am just trying to be patient with myself whilst I work that out! Thanks so much Ethan :)
Firstly, it takes me an ion lately to get to put feedback in! Good you could review options with Christopher. I had also heard that as you move along in transition this lower focus can become more prominent. After my chest surgery, I did find 1) some of the remaining dysphoria become more conscious to me, and 2) increased issue/concern that it is just not practical not to have the function to STP.
Re: DHT what info have you seen on in relation to T levels? I ask because I am currently using the Andractim to increase growth - not because I can get surgery rt now but rather not to miss out on the window when growth from DHT is most optimal, and just in case I do have the opportunity for surgery later. IDK what the options in concentration of it are for you in the UK, but we do have to order it from afar here in US as it is no longer available by compound Rx. It also means the concentration available is significantly lower than what was previously utilised - 2.5% now vs. up to 10% prior. IDK if that would change your consideration of trying to increase size and reconsider meta, possibly less concerns with a lower concentration?
IDK about lower surgery rt now either, in large part because I don't have the medical coverage on it, but I am hoping that will resolve sometime in the near future, as US health ins is addressing discrimination against SRS, but IDK I will get surgery or not regardless due to the daunting concerns of surgery itself. Thank you for the vlogging! George
Hi my friend. It does seem to be common that post chest surgery the focus suddenly shifts! As for DHT, there is, like lower surgery, very little good information available on the net so I may be wrong about it causing issues. Im seeing my gender doctor next month and Im going to ask him for some more info about it, if I remember correctly, he doesnt advocate the use of it, so I shall ask why. To be honest though, at this stage, I think have ruled out meta as an option for me. Based on my experience so far, I feel if I had it done, after a while I would just be dissatisfied witht its limits. Im starting to lean more towards a full phallo. Im going to make another update soon about where Im at. Its so bad that access to surgery for you and others in various countries is so limited, despite the NHS issues over here, there is no denying trans folk over here are very lucky in comparrison
I can understand that reasoning Finn. Just like to share info. I wish we had medical coverage here like you guys do in other countries.
Ahh fella it must be such a very hard situation to be in. Not knowing which way to go & what route. Just keep talking and asking questions is the best thing. Keep talking with Nat too. You will get there.
Cheers mate, Im researching and thinking my ass off lol :)
the London team try and force you to go to them as they get about 65k yet the Gelgians charge only 30k for a better safer service. it doesn't interfere with you life as much either as one surgery then a follow up for implants the next year, so not as much strain or chance for mistakes. you can get funding but you have to be firm about it.
I completely agree. I think that if someone isn't questioning something at all then they are not being smart. You have to think about what's happening to you!
Absolutely !!! Its essential in preparing yourself mentally and physically
I totally agree with you about people doubting your transness because you may have hesitations about certain treatments. There are so many ways to transition and your gender expression and identity do not have to match up. It really bugs me that people feel like non-mones Trans people are any less Trans than people on mones and the same with pre-op/non-op. Also, body disphoria is NOT necessary for a Trans identity and it varies and that it perfectly alright. Everybody is different.
Well said! There is no such thing as trans enough! Each of our journeys are unique in the path that we need to take to feel at ease in ourselves, there is no right or wrong. All the best to you 😀
Look up Dr. Marci Bowers. She does a modified meta that enables person to stand to pee. She is now out of Los Angeles,CA in USA. Just saw her at a conference this past week.
Cheers jai, l won't be going outside of UK tho, no way l could afford it!!
Hey Finn, Hung Jury is good, it tells a few guys experiences, but one thing I didn't like was they were from the nineties or so I think. Surgery's have come a long ways since then. But still a good book about their feelings throughout the process.
Hey bud, yes i agree, there seems to be a lack of current info. Im finding that very frustrating. But yes it is a good book nonetheless, and if its dispelling a lot of myths from back then, then it paints an even more postive picture for now!
Actually no, a lot a very current in fact! The nearest lve found so far is 2010 so the book is up to date!
Interesting point you made about our common beliefe that lower surgery is bad. I guess it would be if you'd compare it to top surgery, which gives you the same results a cis man would have, the only difference being the two big scares whereas no lower surgery out there comes nearly this close to the cis ideal. And in case something goes really wrong the complication can be pretty unbearable. But of course it depends where you are. I personally wouldn't suggest to anyone to do it here, I've heard stories.. But still if successfull the surgery is a blessing!
hey Felix. This is the thing, there is so much talk of "stories" of horror, but actually good outcomes are far more common than negative ones, its just you usually here the bad ones more often! Im really coming around now to see where my views were wrong. And although its not "cis ideal" it can actually be pretty close if you have the erectile device too. However, you are right, it is a lot more complicated and invasive than top surgery and a much bigger deal, hence my struggle to make a decision! I shall keep you informed. Thanks so much for your comments my friend :)
Hey Finn. Did you end up going to Dr. Christopher? I thought you did but then in another video you mentioned another doctor. Wondering if you ended up going with him because I had had a consult with him.
Hi my friend, yes I did. Mr Christopher is , or was at the time of my surgery, the head of the london team of surgeons. He has different surgeons working with him who might operate at different times so I've had other surgeons do different procedures. Here is my entire phalloplasty timeline if it's helpful finlaygames.com/phalloplasty-timeline-referral-to-completion/
Okay as usual thanks for all your very helpful posts and videos! Just wanted to be sure the videos you are talking about surgery with him. Thanks again for all you do!
reallly investigate the Belgian team they are great. It is a years wait but its done all in one go, and you'll be finished before you would have been via the London teams 3, 4 or more stages, and you only have one anaesthetic .
Hi mate, l have heard good things about the Belgium team but lve also heard that it's hard to get funding in the UK to go to Belgium?
I'll have to do a video too. My dysphoria has definitely moved. Maybe not moved, but I feel male on top and female below. You could do DHT. I don't know that you'll get a LOT of growth out of it. The 10 cm is not all that tiny. It's average flaccid, though a bit on the small size for sex. Since guys have sex with meta, I'm not sure it's not doable, depending. I think people do have the porn image of how big they should be. :)
Hey Jay, it is strange how the dysphoria moves. I am becoming very Awre of the miss match between my top and bottom. I'm not sure about dht, heard very mixed things re levels issues, mood issues and hair loss so pm loathe to try it.. And its not that l want to be king dong, but l want enough to comfortably stand to pee at the very least. Unless you have a lot of t growth it's unlikely you'll have enough to easily stand to pee at a urinal and few guys have enough to penetrate with meta alone. A ten centimetre would be average, more than enough to pee, but that method would still use my arm and my current thinking is that if I'm gonna use my arm l might as well go for a full size phallo. I have a lot to weigh up!!!
