This video has been uploaded and taken down numerous times across several years on TH-cam
After a few years I'm pleased to announce that IT'S BACK UP BABY TAKE THIS DOWN TH-cam I DARE YOU I DOUBLE DARE YOU TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN ONE MORE TIME
Anyway I fully encourage everybody who sees this to download this lol because, in the event it actually gets taken down (which I suspect it will) I don't want this video being sucked back into internet purgatory, it's golden

This is INCREDIBLE! Thank you! Man I miss these days. Watching the Sox on WGN and the Braves & Bobby Cox and Maddux and Avery and Glavine and Smoltz. Dave Justice. Ron Gant. Otis Nixon. Chipper. Terry Pendleton all on TBS at the same time as Chicago on WGN. Griffey was in his prime. Lou Pinella was stealing bases off the field. Man... I was just a kid.
I still have a Chipper Jones Rookie Card somewhere in my card collection. I remember when I got it out of a pack of Stadium Club cards. Had no clue who he was since he was brand new but his card was worth $1 and he was GOOD. Who knew he'd stay in ATL his entire career. I need to look that one up and see what it's worth along with my 150+ Griffey cards and the rest of my 90s baseball card collection that's probably not worth near what I thought it would be worth as a kid.

This wasn't in the top 50 but Pete Rose has a great story in his book. He was managing Paul O'Neill and Paul got called out on a close play but he was clearly out. Paul was arguing so to protect his player Rose went out and the following exchange occurred:
"Goddammit ump. That was the greatest fucking call I ever saw"
"Thanks Pete but if you don't get out here I'm gonna have to throw you out"
"That would be great! Then I can go to the store, get some steaks, potatoes, and wine and tonight I'm cooking you dinner!"
    "THAT'S IT! YOU'RE GONE!!!"

    20. 3 games, and the throwing of the dirt was why.
    19. See my earlier comment. Milton Bradley was one of the most fucked in the head players in the history of baseball. Wonder what's happened to him after going to prison for assaulting two wives. The incident there cost him four games.
    18. That may be one of the most classic things in history -- ranks right up there with the fictional "I'm listening to the fucking song!" from Slapshot.
    17. Sosa got eight games, reduced to seven.
    16. Bowa got three, and given one of the shoves he gave to the coach into the umpire, should've been ten.
    15. Entertaining, but come on...
    14. The third Milton Bradley ejection of the list. He was banned for the rest of the regular season, but did play in the playoffs.
    13. One game for that. And should've been ten. Not only for the bats, but for the incitement.
    12. Clemens got the first five games of the following season. And, given some of the proposed comments after the ejection, start the bidding at the first month.
    11. Andujar was banned the first 10 days of the following season. I'd have considered doubling that. He also faced the Commissioner that offseason for drug trial testimony which had his name all over it.

I didn't see it on this list, but an ejection I'll always remember was from a Yankees-Angels game in 1988 at the Stadium. Angels manager Cookie Rojas went out to argue a call in the middle of three umpires, and when the issue wasn't resolved to his satisfaction he sarcastically did the salaam to show his displeasure. As soon as he did that _all three umpires_ threw him out simultaneously!

    10. That DAMN WELL should've been a forfeit right there. Five games next season, almost got the WS cancelled with an umps' strike. If that five was valid (racial slurs were charged by Alomar), then the ump should've been banned at least a month. If not, Alomar should've sat a month.
    9. Another game which should've been terminated. Everett should've been tossed when it was clear he was showing the ump up for resetting the box. Got 10, should've been a month at least. A headbutt was alleged as part of the situation.
    8. Zambrano got six games, which was one start.
    7. That actually should've been a forfeit too, upon discovery. He got two games for it, but that's something that should've drawn a larger sanction for, again, Bringing The Game Into Disrepute.
    6. What's that? Three or four for Pinella in the list?
    5. Just got the fine for that. More of a classic than anything else.
    4. This is why some of these bad ump push situations should be a month. This is the precedent.
    3. Got 10, probably should've been more.
    2. Got three games for that. Wonder how many he would've gotten if the whole thing wasn't miced up and he wasn't caught basically threatening to slug the ump...
    1. Four Royals were ejected for the resumption by the league office. And it wasn't the first game the league similarly upheld the protest on -- there was another similar pine-tar game in 1975!

    • @chriskay1449
      @chriskay1449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

with #10 you ahve to either prove it did happen or Alomar for lying. That is almost impossible to prove. Alaomar could easily have thought he heard it in the heat of hte moment when it didn't actually happen. Suspending him is not really a good idea.

    • @nickhughes8179
      @nickhughes8179 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hirschbeck was also accused of racial slurs in the early 2010s by Yunel Escobar. Escobar alleged that Hirschbeck called him a name that starts with Sp and rhymes with hick. The same slur Alomar alleged was used on him.
Bob Davidson also courted controversy later in his career with racial slurs too. I’m glad he’s gone, that dinosaur was nigh incompetent and a surly, miserable, instigating asshole on the field.

39 and 40. I am actually shocked that, at minimum, as a general rule, that didn't cost you the first several games of next season if not the next game or two of the WS.
    38. Yeah, I was seeing one of the Close Call Sports vids about a pitcher getting real pissed on being called for a balk and wondered. Surprised the pitcher didn't go too!
    37. And Hatcher got 10 days as well.
    36. Five, and he should've gotten more. Five would be for the bump, and then the extended argument and what was necessary to restrain him should've cost him another at least five.
    35. Same thing I said on the Dreckman series. Especially that a fan (from what I read) went that far over the line, Davidson probably screeded the league, saying you need to back up our authority out here!
    34. See 36. I'm not sure he bumped the ump, but the necessity to restrain him that hard should be several games anyway as if he did!
    33. Pinella got five for that, appealed to four. I'd have forfeited the game and doubled that to 8-10 for what he incited in the stands afterward. What many people don't see in the clips of that ejection was that the fans basically threw shit all over the warning track!
    32. Howell got three days, he should've gotten the rest of the series. There's something other sports use called "Bringing The Game Into Disrepute" to add to suspensions.
    31. Speaking of forfeits, that IS the last MLB forfeit.

Carl Everett was actually having a really good season until he lost his mind in that late July game. He had an OPS over 1.000 and was on pace for like 45 HR. After returning from suspension he was a lot worse the rest of the season. Dropped his OPS like 80 points over the final two months and his HR pace slowed a lot, only finishing with 34.

    50. Grissom is lucky he not only didn't get tossed, but he risked any participation in a potential (didn't happen) Game 7.
    49. West should've thrown Buehrle after the first balk, because it was clear he wasn't gonna stop before both manager and pitcher were shown the gate.
    48. Sabo got seven for that.
    47. And that kind of thing should cost you the next game, as an automatic suspension.
    46. Kinda like how this one does.
    45. 10 days for that one. I'm not sure why they don't forfeit games for something as blatant at 45 or 48 -- fines and suspensions don't fucking work.
    44. That's an umpire who's gonna want some backup from the league regarding authority or something.
    43. Bowa's having a conniption, ump's just filing his report.
    42. Aw, Earl. One of those managers you're shocked didn't get thrown out of the sport.
    41. The classic Bob Davidson ejection of Youppi. From what I heard, there was far more than that involved.

    29. I do wonder if the umps can actually throw you out for that you are clearly so out of control with the pitches that you actually are a threat to hurt somebody out there. Lannan got seven years and one win in an eighth in a serviceable career.
    28. That definitely should've gotten Billy banned for Game 5, especially given the culture New York had around it's 1970's playoff wins.
    27. Another one... Manager goes off, ump considers dinner order.
    26. I'm actually surprised MLB didn't finally have enough and start going with longer bans for the likes of Lou and Billy and Earl and Bobby.
    25. Hell, you're gonna make that bad of a call, do another Triple Play.
    24. And that should've been a suspension -- and not accepting the lineup card either. Make someone else do it.
    23. Milton Bradley is a disabled list. How that guy ever got to the majors, as fucked in the head as he was, I have no idea. The Antonio Brown of Baseball.
    22. Pinella got one game for that and probably should've gotten more for the amount of restraint needed.
    21. That should've been a suspension, even though it was clear Reggie was letting the league know how much of a farce that was.

All major sports leaders need to realize that the fans are not there to see the officials. I have quit watch sports because of the officials think they are the the game. They have way to much power they are to quick to kick a player or manager out
