      The tar is only allowed to go up so far from the bottom of the bat. They use the width of the plate to measure from the bottom of the bat. If the tar is higher on the bat than the width of the plate, the bat is not approved for play.

    • @epifunny1
      @epifunny1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is so right. The 1st strike was in the left-handed batter's box. The Ump called it a strike only after Lawrie headed to 1st base in advance of the call itself. It was all about the Ump having and enunciating control over the situation. Then the 2nd pitch was going to be a strike no matter what. The ump should've been immediately retired. Lawrie did better than I would have in the circumstance.

      In MLB if a manager of either team has a problem with the officiating and feels there was a call blown against them that they feel could effect the outcome of the game, they have the ability to call a "Protest". The game continues as normal, however, MLB will review the game and make a ruling. Virtually no protest has ever resulted in an overturn, despite how bad the call was.

      Yeah, even though he was right that the pitch was a ball, he should have come back and immediately apologized to the ump for showing him up like that and just wait a second the next time. He probably would have gotten the call his way, but a borderline pitch and running off like that is going to convince some umps to call against you. That's the nature of baseball.

      Well shit it’s understandable. Seager was standing there bobbling around like a shithead for 40 seconds, staring at Weaver and telling him “I’m not fuckin ready.” I get that there’s a level of maturity that’s expected from sportsmen, but it goes both ways. Showing up the pitcher while you’re standing IN THE BOX is a great way to get nailed
