All game companies need to have this level of commitment. In a world where creators cry when you dislike the garbage they put out complaing of toxic fans. What did these guys do, they took it on the chin and put it right . We need more dedicated developers like this and less snowflakes.

I really don't think any other game has released this many 100% free updates in gaming history. This update is so interesting and it fits in perfectly with what I've been creating recently.
I’m not a NMS player but HOW are they doing this for free. I still remember the initial backlash they got. This will go down in gaming history as the greatest comebacks ever.
Because people keep buying the game. As independent developers they get to bypass a lot of AAA bureaucracy, corpo meddling and an outdated micro transaction/loot garbage strategy. A Small team that's not greedy can put that excess income into creating content thus increasing it's lifespan which in turn repeats that cycle.
NMS is essentially a testing bed of updates for other games they're making. Perfect storm of redemption arc, huge deals like gamepass, a testing bed for others games they're making which gives them a platform to sell those other games means there is more incentive to keep NMS going with free content then to stop updating it or making paid DLC.

You know if you think about it with all the knowledge and skills they have gained working on this game over the years I imagine their next projects are going to be incredible and actually live up to the hype

They could’ve have made every expansion a purchase, they could have just left it on one generation… but no. Countless quality of life improvements, many free expansions, and full support on PS5, PSVR2, and (although the console is a scam) they’re still releasing a PS5 Pro version. Hello Games might be the only company right now, along side Larian Studios, where I am genuinely wanting to offer them more money for content. That's how much they've won over their fan base.
Another studio that comes to mind is Ghost Ship Games (Deep Rock Galactic). They do have cosmetic DLCs but the actual game content is free and just keeps coming.

I wonder what is happening behind the scenes right now. They are working on 'light no fire' simultainously and I wonder which improvements are actually coming from light no fire to no mans sky as they are cleary very similiar with abstractable Features or improvements
