Honestly if this animated series is a prologue to Shadow's story in the game
It's seeming from the teaser like Rouge and Omega are with him when everything goes to shit, but in Gens Rouge was at Sonic's party at the start of the game
Really thinking Shadow Gens doesnt actually run parallel to Sonic's and is set after it
Will be interesting to see how the 2nd and 3rd episodes play out

@@aguywithgames3135My thoughts exactly. Generations DOES take place outside of time, so it makes sense if Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations take place at the same time.

Since in the main Sonic Generations game, when you beat Shadow, he gives you the yellow Chaos Emerald.
That's Generations referencing to SA2. Sonic used Chaos Control with a yellow emerald (even though it was the fake one)

I like how at the beginning, Maria definitely sounds panicked before it switches to her sounding more excited, nice little throw off and detail.
It’s especially noticeable if you’ve played Shadow the Hedgehog - the scene is almost a dead ringer to Shadow’s memories at the start of the game, of him and Maria running from GUN soldiers.

I love that Emerl and Shadow are so evenly matched, showing that Emerl's Copy Ability has been copying Shadow specifically, so they know all the same moves and stuff. It helps shows Emerl's abilities without like, exposition saying it. So good.
Did you see that footwork? Emerl was trying to copy that too.

This episode was FIRE, man! We need a proper Sonic ANIME in this style, it just fits these characters so WELL!
I loved this animation. My favorite part? After all these years they finally acknowledge that the moon is blown up! After Adventure 2 it's just fully intact again every game thereafter. And I know their explanation is the intact side is the one always facing the Earth but you and I both know they just made that up on the spot cus they forgot.
Honestly, I love that we now have confirmation that Shadow knew about Emerl.
Makes me wonder if any part of Gemerl still has access to those memories at all because if he does, they NEED to talk. Emerl accidentally caused the G.U.N. raid...
I think Shadow's comments after the fight indicate that GUN didn't come following the Emerl incident. It's possible that the event contributed to GUN's raid, but it definitely happened a bit later in the real timeline.
Although Emerl's breakout could have alerted GUN about the dangers of the projects on the Ark,SA2 makes clear that the main reason was Biolizard

Also, while Kirk Thornton is still my least favorite Shadow voice, he's definitely improved. Stephanie Sheh does a masterful job voicing Maria. I'm excited to hear more of her work as her in this series and in the game.

This has got to be one of the most haunting moments we've ever seen in mainline Sonic.
This is one of the biggest animations SEGA has ever made in any other prologue animation, and it also surprised me that Shadow lives in the outside, and i kinda get it, he has nowhere to go and would end up destroying the house in any moment, that's why he is the best

Sometimes I expect the opposite from him. If not using them at full power, maybe he would switch it up on us and just start running--as fast or maybe even faster than Sonic.

I’m so happy that Kirk (Shadow’s current VA) is finally getting the chance to shine. He has been stuck with Modern Era Shadow for this whole time, and hearing him get the chance to express more emotion then ever is good. I think he is doing well, might give Humphrey a run for his money imo

Dude i love black doom, hes my favorite villain simply because his motivations are so horrifying. Its one thing to destroy the earth, and quite another to terraform it and turn everything on it into food. Especially since he wanted to eat them while theyre alive and conscious. Then theres the fact that all of his technology is biological, like god thats so grody, living ships, living guns, thats super awesome, i love biological tools. The fact that Eggman, who usually would hit someone like that up and propose to work together, is immediately like "ugh gross, get that thing out of here" and does an all out attack?
The fact that Gerald and him are recreating Faust? Gerald thinking he can dupe the devil and then gets all of his life destroyed not even because of BDs direct actions but because of basicaly fate? Thats incredibly cool. Themes and messages, guys.
I always wanted BD to return in some way and for them to show off how scary he is

Sonic's lore is kinda weird. The humans do exist in this world and all of the games that features them are canon to the franchise. But there's no mentions to humans in any canon sonic media since Sonic Unleashed. Not even in Sonic Forces nor the Metal Virus saga in the IDW comics who were supposed to be events of global scale.
I heard there's a rule that the sonic writers cant do direct mentions to the humans anymore but this just makes some of the best sonic games seems kinda... off from the rest
Humans are on main land while the flickies and anthros are on small islands. Been confirmed and kinda helps patch the plot holes together

Shadow's Fight Against Emerl 3:34 Remains me of Sonic Battle on GBA
Shadow's character arc is so great yet heartbreaking. No matter how much he tries to put the past behind him, someone or something always goes digging up those old memories and uses them against him. Shadow may have moved on, but the world (or universe) has not.
Even a supersonic hedgehog can't run from himself. And that's why Shadow is so dang compelling.

Had to wait till 1am but I’d say it was worth it. Overall loved this episode, do think a bit of the animation was stiff and off and I do wish there was more Shadow and Maria interaction. But aside that, HOLY MOLY the looks, the sounds and music, the emotions, the battle with Emerl and the nightmare sequence at the end… so Damn good! ❤🖤

Everything in this is just perfect. Shadow and Maria's bound is adorable and well done. They acknowledge Maria's condition in a way that actually makes sense and explains why she is on the arc. Yet also showing her resolve to push herself in making Shadow happy. Her love of science yet appreciation of beauty is on display with the Aura thing which was gorgeously animated. The fight with Shadow and Emeral was just cool. Then each of the nightmare sections were just horrying. The image of Gerald in chains with his writing all around him has never felt so chilling and the way it breaks apart to reveal Maria being gunned down is just depressing. Even the way they acknowledge the moon was partially destroyed was a great touch. Also new Maria VA is probably my favorite so far, sounding like a mix of her OG and her voice from Sonic X and Shadow the Hedgehog. Heck I'll even say this much that Shadow's modern voice wasn't as bad as normal. I still don't like the sound of the voice but you can tell like with Roger and like with Cindy that when they give this actor actual good dialogue their skills can shine. All of this gives my a lot of hope for the game's story to be amazing just as Frontiers was.
i really love that the fight scene doesn't have any music or something like that, just the sound of the actual fight. Makes the scene even better in my opinion.

Here's my crazy theory. The true villain is actually an alternate Shadow and what we saw was the blending of their pasts. That's why Shadow notices Gun is arriving too soon and the robot is attacking him. Black Doom is just an illusion to trick Shadow.
It’s actually amazing what happens, when you give a VA good direction. Kirk actually sounds good now as Shadow.

I used to wonder why Shadow looked so angsty in flashbacks with Maria, but now I see why. You'd be sour too if you were the ultimate lifeform but still couldn't cure someone that important to you.

Gotta be honest, It doesn't look like it was 2d animated. Most of it anyway. There's hints of 2d animation within the effects, some facial expressions and the background. But if I didn't knew better then I say that either they use a 3d software and made it look like 2d or some of the animation are rotoscoped from 3d animations. I'm not saying it looks bad or that it makes it worse. But after looking at the animation for a while. It makes me think there was some helped from 3d animation. Just an observation that I made from looking at the Spectacular animation!
