    I really like the aesthetic of the animation at the start - I imagine it would look really interesting in a solo piece or small chamber group.

      I use it for the subject of this fugue: th-cam.com/video/k2d-s8U1tfM/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for the links! I like how the animation in he fugue makes it really easy to see the interaction between the different voices, and in the Nielsen to see the way the harmonies move. Although I suppose I find the same thing with all of these graphical representations of music hahaha

      Nevertheless, thanks for the uploads! They've really helped me understand a lot more about music, and have been really helpful in teaching myself composition.

    Such a gorgeous piece this is. Have you done the other three movements of the suite as well or just this one?

    • @smalin
      @smalin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Just this one. Do you think Ante B.K. should do a Kickstarted to pay for the rest?

    • @anteb.k.8396
      @anteb.k.8396 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if I see enough interest in the comments for the other three movements I will be glad to do a Kickstarter,
      or just like Stephen's comment :)

    • @PianoCzarX
      @PianoCzarX 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is only a small problem concerning the live performance, it was rehearsed at short notice, and the other movements have some mistakes, the 1st movement is in the best shape

    A really lovely piece Smalin. Personally I've always been a fan of film soundtracks from the likes of John Barry and John Williams. Would you ever animate their music (providing copyright wasn't an issue)?

    • @smalin
      @smalin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't matter to me one way or the other whether a piece of music is included in a soundtrack; if it's good music and an animated graphical score would add something to it, I'm interested. A lot of movie music is designed for the context of a movie and wouldn't work as well standing alone in a concert context, so that would eliminate "theme from" music and lots of scene-specific passages (which are fantastic on their own but hard to excerpt), but in general, sure, bring it on --- tell Barry and Williams to contact me if they'd like to collaborate. www.musanim.com/Collaborators/

    • @sidoney101
      @sidoney101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +smalin thanks for the reply. I see your point about the context. It may not work but it would be interesting to see. I wish I could get some of the big film composers to collaborate with you.

    • @smalin
      @smalin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another possible problem/issue might be that film composers conceive of their work as being part of a specific aural/visual whole, and would not want it separated and combined with a different visual component.

    • @sidoney101
      @sidoney101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +smalin point taken. I don't know if you've animated any Ballet music but I'm guessing the visual context would apply to that as well.

    • @smalin
      @smalin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've done videos of some of the movements of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker; seems okay. And, of course, The Rite of Spring (though that piece already gets most of its play through the concert version).

    The beginning animation is perfect for violins... why did you change it when the piano started? Too busy on screen?

    • @smalin
      @smalin  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I developed the "Coil" animation for the sustained strings in Björk's Black Lake (th-cam.com/video/GaI9b1ofGK0/w-d-xo.html). It doesn't work as well for faster music.

    a wonderful piece! I wonder where you're finding all these (rather) unnknown Composers. do they contact you or are you researching them?

    • @smalin

      It's different in each case. In this case, Ante contact me and hired me to produce this animated graphical score for him. I subsequently decided that it was good enough to put on my channel.
