Béla Bartók - Romanian Folk Dances (arranged by Zoltán Székely) Augustin Hadelich - violin and piano Recorded at home in June 2020 during Covid19 hiatus
I am 57 years old and still practicing 3-4 hours everyday. I studied your Paganini’s caprices TH-cam videos last night until 2:00am. Thank you for the true and honest performance!
Cassandra Loki press the A string down, with your index finger, on the B note. Now, place your 2nd finger down on the A string, on the C#, bowing ever so lightly. Now bow gently. If you’re barely making contact with that string and it should make a whistling sound.
Im 12 and I have been playing the violin since I was 4 years old. You are my idol because your tone is amazing and beautiful your technic is amazing and that fake vials. Thats everything so Cool. I won every competition and in Czech Republic me and my trio are the third best players in this republic. But you are the best violinist on the world and i don’t have any world for this.
I am from Romania and ia love the folk music very much, and i must say that not a lot of foreign musicians can get into that spirit, but You did it very beautifully. It would be lovely if you did " Ciocarlia" by George Enescu. :D
Wow, an incredible performance of such a familiar piece...sound, harmonics, and slides are out of this world. Best version and interpretation ever!! Thank you so much Augustin!! :-)
Beautiful! I just watched your performance of Paganini's No.1 Violin Concerto. One of the best performances of these works. Your cadenza was phenomenal. I was speechless. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for such great performance. Really like the angle of video shooting I can see your finger movement so clearly. (I'm practising this piece now but the harmonics are not easy for me.😅)
This is the best interpretation I have ever heard of The Romanian Folk Dances. I'm truly spellbound. Augustin, you've outdone yourself once again. I can't wait to see you live again, man. Wow! BRAVO!!!
Gracias! 💜🎶💜🎻
Inspiring as always! I like the organic chords in no.1 very much and will shamelessly try to copy them. Also it's the first time I see my fingerings of no.2 on youtube :-)
Call me an idiot idc.. I turned off this vid mid way through and through some of his last few ones cuz his awesomeness just hit me like a big dose of heroine and i felt like I couldn't take anymore. I'm slowly training myself to be able to understsnd and accept his genius, at which point I'll maybe hate my playing forever :( feels bad man
It's interesting to see when you're listening to your piano accompaniment with earphones, and when you're listening to your violin playing...I wonder what the reason behind it might be? Perhaps it helps to have the piano to orient yourself when playing those harmonics! Love the playing!
I recorded the piano part first for the harmonics variation and the following one; and also the ending,. The rest of the piece, violin first - that's why the ear pieces appear. For some sections, when the violin is rhythmically flexible around a steady beat, it just sounds much more natural when the piano is recorded first. Many of my collaborations with myself are done piano-first, but some are violin first. Usually when I record the piano part first, I just press "play" on the electric piano, playing what I just pre-recorded. For my June recordings, I started using these earbuds, to avoid certain mixing issues later.
Augustin Hadelich I was noticing that - it makes a lot of sense and it’s encouraging to see that you’re doing that. I sometimes feel a little "cheaty" when I record things in segments or with something in my ear, but it doesn’t seem to make your videos any less amazing. Maybe I’ll do it too :)
Fantastic! I love these pieces and it's great to see them appear in your videos. I was wondering a bit about your recording process, and I know you've answered a bit about it before, but I noticed you and your pianist pass the earbuds back and forth a few times on the sly. Is it easier for the piano to follow the violin for some parts and vice versa? Also, what kind of camera and microphone setup do you use?
First: His pianist is himself! I think he did it both ways, recorded his violin on top of his piano playing for the complete piece and also recorded playing the piano on top of the violin. At the end he edited, so some sequences piano first and some sequences violin first.
Thank you for this fantastic performance. I wish you will perform with a friend of mine, Mr. Hagai Shaham, see Hagai Shaham | J. Hubay, Scenes de la Csarda No. 4 'Hejre Kati' .
Absolutely and utterly incredible Augustin, I really really enjoyed watching you play this amazing little folk dance. So very very pretty. And you played it as always with such passion and sensitivity too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags

Don’t unsleep too late
Sam Freeman very good for you, Sam!❤️
Good luck!!🥰🥰
it's amazing that the harmonics really sound like the romanian "nai" instrument (pan flute). Thanks Augustin for this incredible performance!
Alex Popovici that’s the part I really love! He can make seagull sounds, too!
Sorry, this is probably going to end up sounding creepy, but did you ever live in MI, OH, or Boston? Your name sounds so familiar to me.
@@melissat9120eso sí que da un poco de miedo.
Woooooooow it's amazing. Those harmonics are beautiful 😂 not like my sacrilegious harmonics
Ling ling would be proud

M77 amen to that!❤️
M77 what a great response!😂❤️
I love these videos so much! 😍 Can you please record every piece ever written for violin?❤️
I love the way that Augustin plays the piano and violin and listens to his own piano piece while playing the violin. Very smart!! ❤
Wow! This is so inspirational. I am learning this for my grade 8 exam and this has helped very much. You are an excellent musician. Thank you
Beautiful ability to transport the listener to a different country through these melodies. Ethereal and enchanting!
Woah!
I have to tell my brain to calm down after listening to the last few seconds.
Crazy Crazy Gift
God Bless you
Amazing to now have a recording by Henryk Szeryng and Augustin Hadelich of this wonderful piece both on the Leduc Stradivarius I believe!
Denkender Treibsand it’s the Giuseppe Guarneri Del Jesu “LeDuc” violin, formerly used by Henryk Szeryng.
美しい〜、こんなに美しい演奏は初めてです。ダイナミックレンジもすごい。pppでも音の輪郭がしっかりしていてしかも輝いている!本当に美しい。大好きなバイオリニスト❤️

Are the harmonics easy for anyone to learn?🙂

This is honestly probably tied with Henryk Szerying’s recording for me, which says a lot about Augustin’s musicality and playing.
Bravo 👏🏻
