My ISFP wife says, Fi/Se is highly considerate and careful in it's approach to life and especially to other people. Especially with it's Fi/Se - it's intention is do always do good to others in the most ethical way. That's why if it is challenged about it's intention to others it gets very upset - not so much that "it has taken a lot of time to arrive to its feeling" but more that it is considerate and careful in it's very nature. We loved seeing this interview please do more. Fi has a much harder time putting Fi into words so please give consideration to that because Kurt for sure knew how he felt about questions but then he had to decode and put into words and this takes time for an Fi user.
I don't think it's necessarily Fi/Se, she seems like a kind and considerate person and that's how she uses her functions. I've seen plenty of selfish and/or completely unaware Fi people
Fi has their own set of values that might not aligned with the tribe. So, them seeing themselves as being considerate may not necessarily mean other people see them as considerate. In fact, it can be the opposite.
The problem with the buried Fi in XXTPs is the tendency to devalue your more inner desires and wants, then it all comes back to bite you in the ass later. Especially if you have a nasty inner critic.
The “favorite” topic: with Ti, “favorite” needs to be defined and questioned. Let’s use a movie. Favorite what? Comedy? Action movie? Drama? Chill by yourself movie or movie with kids? Etc. Basically a personal favorite needs to be justified somehow and super clarified to be as accurate as possible. 10:22 hahaha of course they’d bring this up after I commented
INTPs are constantly getting possibilities of truth from their Ne parent. Often, I will play devil's advocate to give these ideas their day in court to see if they play out. INTPs aren't offended by challenges to their worldview, because establishing truth is more important to us than being right in a debate. Often in a debate I won't know what I believe until I hear myself talk, so fleshing ideas out in a real-world setting helps me gain confidence in my worldview's authenticity.
This was very easy to understand and important for learning about the 2 internal judgement functions. You found 2 likable and well-spoken representatives of their types to talk about this subject. Thanks for having good friends, Joyce and thank you for giving us this content.
Thank you, Laura! I try my best to provide quality content. :) I appreciate how you shared your Ti thoughts in the live chat. It enlivened the conversation so I'm glad you were there.
Thank you to all who participated in this talk! It was very interesting to hear your different perspectives and your efforts are much appreciated. Joyce, at around 54:00 you make a connection regarding Fi users and feeling disrespected by quick value and/or character assessments, which (IMO) is very on point - in regards to my experience as an INFJ interacting with Fi dominant or auxiliary friends. At times I tend to make quick character assessments based on Fe-Ti, and my Fi friends upon hearing these opinions will often try to get me to take more time and to reassess the person. It’s almost like they are disgusted and/or suspicious of how firm my stance is after observing such a short period of deliberation. When they encourage me to take more time to evaluate the situation, it annoys the crap out of me, since my character evaluations are based on a complicated chain of Ti reasons that have long been out on the shelf waiting for sale. What is ironic is that I do the exact same thing when it comes to Ti. My partner is a Te-Fi user and I have the gut impulse to lecture him about taking the time to thoroughly understand the structure of the projects he’s working on before making a decision to take action. (As you mentioned, of course all of this is anecdotal for now, and it probably should be, since I do think that Enneagram type may affect these tendencies.) I’m really enjoying this series of talks. Thanks again!
i have had a HUGE conflict with an ENFP because of the difference between Fi and Ti..... it ended so badly, but understanding the difference is what will help me with Fi users in the future! It was me trying to type an ENFP as an ENFP and she was offended (using her Fi) because she didn't agree that I should subconsciously place others in a box. However.. she doesn't realize that as an INFJ, we have been studying people for several years (having Fe-Ti). My judgement is USUALLY correct.
I don't really relate a 100% to how Fi works on me because I'm an INFP but my best friend is an ISFP and she thinks the same way he does It's even scary
I don’t like the use of “identity” with respect to Ti. “Personal understanding” is more apt in my opinion. I have never felt rejected because someone disagreed with my ideas. I have felt rejected when they refused to engage with me on the idea and then just rejected it. I have also felt in a certain way rejected when someone just accepted whatever I said without any sort of pushback or questioning.
I'm INTP and my husband is ISFP, so I clicked as soon as posible. Very amazing qestions, and answers! Both of them made me understand plenty of things I had not thought about it, and your power of making everything so precise and clean, without taking away it's complexity is pretty incredible.
Hey Joyce, great job! I really enjoy your videos, especially these debates with contrasting or similar personalities, I always learn so much. Thank you :)
The relationship between reasons and values is that values set your preferences, so let's say desires or aims, and the reasons are attached to the Te *how*, to the probability of success, to the mechanisms and pathways, to the methodology; but not to the *why* the goal or aim or values exist in the first place to initiate everything.
Great video. Thanks to you all. My 2 cents. Fi doesn't spend so much time trying to understand it reasonably as much as Ti does before coming to conclusion with evidence. Fi values are generally blind, subjective and possessive to get things done or meet the goal ethically and morally=conscience (boosted by Te) ❤🙏 ISFP
I’m really loving understanding the difference between Fi-Te and Fe-Ti. I feel like so many of my conflicts with people seem to be related to this. Another fantastic video, Joyce!
55:04. Lol I feel this way too about Te users, the frustration is real when they think something is straightforward and easy. I find that Ti users especially have it hard when people don’t think deep and long enough, when someone makes assumptions it triggers the Ti user that you simply didn’t use your brain before you spoke and it made you sound so dumb. Fi dislikes quick judgement calls on character, preference, value, emotions. Ti dislikes quick judgement calls without considering logical intricacy. (It’s offensive how little they thought through that.) That’s all accurate to me Joyce.
I really appreciated Tim's quote about levels of belief, doble observing was very clear at that point. And your appointments Joyce helped to summarize and to clarify, great job. Ps: I like to see the Se's progress on your videos.
Hi Samuel - I enjoyed Tim's comment on levels of belief too! I also liked how he said Fi and Ti are on the pursuit of purity but in different ways. Haha thank you!! :) are you referring to my editing, I'm really trying lol
I can see it!! I've never asked Tim about his nationality before. I'm curious now. :) Thank you for telling me you enjoy the show, Alfeim. That brings me happiness.
For Ti users and especially INTPs, I like to point out that they know what food they like and don't like.... do they also feel the need to justify that Si preference? (INFP)
My father can't stand eating cheese... He's sure that he went into some kind of trauma as a kid, or that there is an underlying reason that he can't see, otherwise he wouldn't be able to justify it, even thought it's just a phisical reaction to it
I don't feel the need to justify my food preferences. I do sometimes try to understand what's appealing about different art styles. (I think I'm an INTP.)
I use Ti in the second slot, and Si on the inferior. Si and food knows exactly what it want and won't eat. If it's my favorite, self control is so so hard, because Si is all about 'comfort' in the sensory
Very late to the party, and I don't speak for anyone but myself, but I do actually feel the need to justify why I like or dislike food or at very least have an explanation handy, should it be requested. Part of that may be environmental though; I feel the need to have justifications or explanations because I have experienced a history of people expecting it. Every time I tell people I hate onions, for example, there's a high chance that people will be shocked and/or fail to see how that's even possible. I can just shrug and hope that's it or, if needed, I can have some justification ready for what, specifically, I dislike about onions and why that might be.
You said that Fi hates quick judgement calls on its character. This may be true for ISFPs, but I think INFPs do this all the time. I'm an INTP that dating apps always matched with INFPs. There was quick chemistry, but their Ne, feeding Fi, always judged me too optimistic and at the first issue, too pessimistic. (Reading between the lines on feelings is a big problem for them.) I've been with an ISFP for over a year and because of Ne trickster they can't really do that and their Se takes life and people more at face value. ISFPs give space to prove character and see me in real time versus reading into what they guess are motives which is problematic to good communication where both people are honest and digging into what isn't said is unnecessary.
Hi, Joyce. As i remember there was a video you were interviewing 6 female intps in your channel until few days ago. May i know where is that video now?
i've been trying to understand Fi for a while now, it seemed much more complex than it actually is, it's basically just (how i feel about that, how much value i that, what is my emotional response to that) and we as intp subconsciously ask those questions too but the emotional response is just a part of the analysis then we will think why we have that emotional response and Fi users can't do that and that's what i call being stupid. So in conclusion Fi=Bias and building stuff on that bias Edit: Also you can't base you whole life on what does chest tells.(feelings)

For sure!! More videos like this to come. :) Thank you for sharing your wife's experience as a ISFP

Fi/Te is personal morals
Ti/Fe is personal perspective on ethics

Your channel has quickly become my favorite channel for learning about the cognitive functions.
Glad you enjoy it, katiki! :)
Same! Hands down the best!

Awesome, thank you! I greatly appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. :)
Great discussion...! I "love" the idea of Ti "Clean Slicing Data". Nice.
Glad you enjoyed it. Clean sliced data is an idea originally from Personality Hacker, but thank you!! :)
I enjoy your "Type Talks". You are very insightful and present great questions for the guests!
Thank you, Laura! I try my best to provide quality content. :) I appreciate how you shared your Ti thoughts in the live chat. It enlivened the conversation so I'm glad you were there.

Hi Justine! Glad you're enjoying this series so far. It was nice hearing about your experiences :)

ENFJ here. Fe-Ti is definitely a quick judger. 💯💯💯
I absolutely loved this Joyce. Such lovely guests and I learned so much. I really appreciate what you do as a fellow Ni/Ti. 💙
I don't really relate a 100% to how Fi works on me because I'm an INFP but my best friend is an ISFP and she thinks the same way he does It's even scary
what parts exactly did you not relate to? i'm curious :)
Ooh yes me too , im curious (infp here too)

Holy shit me too I just now realize this
I like to be questioned. . .
Wow, Tim is soo animated for an intp... i think i've been missing some intp's for only being familiar with the stoic type
I'm INTP and my husband is ISFP, so I clicked as soon as posible. Very amazing qestions, and answers! Both of them made me understand plenty of things I had not thought about it, and your power of making everything so precise and clean, without taking away it's complexity is pretty incredible.
Wow Tim you are so impressive with your understandings🙏 yes to all youve said... keep on goin'🧠💪. Namaste 😇🥰😇

Fi - Visceral preferences
Ti - Compulsive rationalization
Fi: I feel therefore I am. What I feel, is also what I am. My motivations and purpose is to feel purposeful and have fun.
I’m really loving understanding the difference between Fi-Te and Fe-Ti. I feel like so many of my conflicts with people seem to be related to this. Another fantastic video, Joyce!
Happy you are enjoying these videos, lunajupiter 💕 =] Knowing about the Fi-Te Fe-Ti communication differences was a game changer for me too.
kurt has precious energy

For visual typing - it’s interesting they both have similar looks.
Joyce, i'm an entp learning about Fi, this really helps! Thanks so much!
I'm so glad! :) Thanks for watching, Adhistie Aprianti.
Is that me or Tim really looks like a Saudi man, listener from saudi arabia who enjoys the show a lot
I can see it!! I've never asked Tim about his nationality before. I'm curious now. :) Thank you for telling me you enjoy the show, Alfeim. That brings me happiness.

you are asking an FI demon how they feel about it????
Hi, Joyce. As i remember there was a video you were interviewing 6 female intps in your channel until few days ago. May i know where is that video now?
Hi Arjun! I am re-doing that video. :) A new 6 Female INTP video will be premiering at the end of July.
I wonder who would win in a fight 🤔
🙏🙋♀️❤️
