Hey everyone! I hope this upload finds you well. In a sea of skepticism and distrust in the current commander meta following the most recent bans, I thought long and hard about posting a video, but the negativity for other players, the RC and CAG is at an all time high. I will address the drama, but it will be in time when we have had a chance to see the ACTUAL ramifications of the bans. I will be pushing to interview other content creators/judges and bring something that is more complete rather than my speculation. I hope you enjoy this video in the first installment of COMMANDER SHOWDOWN! We have upgraded audio moving forward, but I do think this initial episode is passable. If you have any other feedback, I'd love to hear it in the comments. I would encourage everyone to sit back and enjoy. Thank you for being here. :)
I've been looking forward to this! Great first episode for you guys and I can't wait to see what new commanders everyone brings to the table. Fingers crossed we'll see Umbris! Your video on Umbris really helped me improve my gameplay with them and I'd love to see how you pilot the deck + what changes you might have made since! I was over the moon when Duskmourn spoilers started to come out and some of the Horrors/Nightmares have been pretty solid for me so far.
Turn 1 Mystic Remora, this guy 🤣 So happy you’re back with the squad! I was also just saying the other day, I wonder how the wedding was and shouldn’t he be back soon?? Let’s go!! Congrats on everything and welcome back.
This game was a perfect example of why I took apart my ovika deck. Also running descent is a bad idea. People target the deck down before you have time to play commander and any follow-ups to make tokens. Even if you do land it one time it's going to die most times. It's just too slow and hated on. Edit: The fact you won after this comment is wild, you were at 20 with 2 spells played 😂
I agree. I have an upgraded mic setup coming for the next episodes. Fingers crossed. It turns out audio for 4 people is a tricky thing, this will be my 4th microphone setup for filming. lol
You guys need a better sense of how to play for an audience. The active player should always be narrating their turn to some extent. If they just silently play 3 cards and swing out for attacks, the viewers will be completely lost. Few people will be watching these attentively, it's on in the background for most of us, so we aren't looking at the screen the entire time. And even when we are, it's a lot harder to read board state through a video than it is while sitting at the table. I'm not saying you can't leave room for the other players to vamp and make jokes and stuff, you'll find that flow naturally with practice, but I think you should focus on making the game itself a little easier to follow for the audience for the next one. An entire turn playing out without the player saying a single thing about the actions they're taking shouldn't be happening in a video like this and it happens so much in this game. Sorry for the unsolicited advice but I think this shows a lot of promise and I want to see it succeed.
@cool_scatter This is something we've already spoke about behind closed doors. I totally agree, especially in commander when so much is happening it's imperative to narrate/explain the boardstate. I appreciate the feedback!

Hey are you going to be updating any your decklists?
