  • Hop aboard for a look into the Meridian Southern Railway, a dynamic shortline operation from Meridian to Waynesboro, Mississippi. Their power is all vintage GE B23-7 locomotives, including former Conrail and Santa Fe examples still sporting their old paint!
    Special thanks to the powers that be for letting me behind the scenes.

    Those two Conrail engines, along with the cars, almost look almost like a ghost train from the booming days of Conrail. They're old, but still going strong. Bravo, Conrail, BRAVO!

    What an awesome crew. This is really great stuff, lots of interesting angles, and the in-cab stuff was a real treat. Thanks for sharing!

    Love to see the B23s chugging along. My dad worked for Conrail in the 80s and I have a picture of us together in the cab of CR1917. I always wonder what 1917's fate was and if it's dead lined, where is it sitting

    Love the video. Incredible angles and photography. Do you have any information on when this railroad runs, or the easiest way to catch it?

      TS12 Trainz Routes I regularly watch them as I only live a couple miles from the location. 29th avenue in Meridian that connects with KCS and the interchange track for NS located next to the Lauderdale County Farm supply. They operate 5 days a week plus weekends when needed. If they operate weekends, they have to have quite a bit of cars at NS. KCS will come over to MDS to pick up their interchange traffic. It's hard to catch them going south or coming north.

    That leading one needs the turbo fixed you can tell that the oil is just leaking all over the turbo, it smokes a lot even when just running at fairly low rpm

      Michael Appleby But what I’d like to know are if any of the Ex-Cons (4082 included) are still in active service. I’ve never seen former Conrail power, so if I ever do get to see them running and it’s one of the Conrail units, I’d be pretty happy about that. Just need a schedule and advice on this line, (as well as to get through my parent’s heads to go further south)

      @Cnw8701 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikeytrains1 I grew up with Conrail in the late 90s and saw quite a bit of ex-Conrail power on NS and CSX post-merger on the CSX Toledo Sub and NS Dayton District in Dayton, Ohio. Literally every NS train had at least one Conrail unit in the consist back in the day (2000-2003). But as the years went on, I saw less of them. However, I did get lucky enough to see some ex-SP power on the IORY trackage rights trains, and saw even more ex-SP/SSW power when I moved to El Paso, Texas on the UP Sunset Route!

    Old Ge`s tottally stunning sounds as well as great durability too , unfortunately they haven't got any of them anymore !! Yet they're screwing Emd and PR in the exports market with it's under the table eternal techniques which is Emd not used to , and can't keep a leg with GE in regarding that !!!!
