    Just did this maintenance and it really wasn’t too bad at all! Passenger side in 20 minutes. Driver in 40. Was able to finagle some clips and didn’t have to take off the two main brackets on the driver side. Was really tight but worked!

      I agree! It’s not that bad. I’ll have to try it without removing the brackets when plug replacement is due again.

    Well the driver side looks like a PITA and tight like a figured, got my plugs in the mail today and will give it a whirl.

      Good luck! It’s really not that bad - you’ll get it done. Make sure the engine is cold so you don’t burn your hands 😆

    How long did it take to do this job?

      If I wasn’t fidgeting with my phone to record this, probably an hour

    Good video, but fast. Next time, explain the places slowly. Do you have a replacement rear brake shoe for a 22 6-cylinder Tacoma? Can you send it to me? Thank you.

      I don’t have that specific video. I try to be somewhat brief in my videos. I’ll try to slow down a bit on the next one 😀

    I thought the are supposed to be gapped at 0.044?

    • @realtoyotology
      @realtoyotology  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The OEM plugs should be gapped at .032”. Maybe other brands that fit are gapped at .044”

    • @michaellyons2277
      @michaellyons2277 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was for the 1GR-FE in the second gen. Have the same engine in my 5th gen 4Runner and the plugs are 0.044 on them whereas on the 2GR FKS in the third gen taco has a smaller gap. Was hoping to have the same gap so when I order them from rock auto I could get them cheaper. I would add you mentioned check the coil packs for oil on them but also should inspect the spark plugs themselves for fouling or oil on the threads or porcelain stem which could indicate valve cover gasket leak or spark plug tube gasket failure. Just changed plugs on the 4Runner before the taco and 2 of the driver side plugs had oil in the threads so I’ll be pulling plugs again soon to see if it’s still a problem. Oh also I guess a clogged PCV valve could cause it. I change the PCV out when I do the plugs. I cleaned off the old plug with brake cleaner then proceeded to use it as a thread chaser to clean out the threads of oil and gunk till it came out clean then installed the new plug.

    Why would this cost $858 at a dealership?

    • @realtoyotology
      @realtoyotology  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Environmental fees and shop fees add up 😂

      I've heard the dealer removes the entire intake manifold but idk. Would certainly explain the cost

    Take the intake manifold off that method hes doing is a bitch its easier by taking the manifold off trust me ive done this before

    • @realtoyotology

      I try to remove the least amount of items. Does removing the manifold require a gasket replacement?

      They are stuck on the manifold really well do not remove any hoses from the the throttle just unscrew the 4 bolts off and push it to the side I found removing the manifold off is more time consuming but it's alot easier getting to the spark plugs
