The battery life depends... because when they turned on the O2 sensor on Gen 3 it killed the battery. If 8 days includes the night O2 sensor then it actually is quite a large increase.
It really does not do a good job either, when it comes to monitoring 02 levels; as someone with an apnea matter, it has never indicated such, unlike when I wear an actual smart pulse oxymeter over night and/or through the day. I do love the data though, apart from the sp02 levels. I may return the Oura 4, if my grandfathered-in membership doesn't get me the data; I can't afford to be paying for it and would potentially pay for it, if the sp02 were actually effective and accurate, the smart pulse oxymeter I have has a similar membership which I don't want to pay for either, ugh...
Got oura 3 July last year and the battery is great. Only way it would be worth buying an oura 4 if someone don't have any smart ring. Oura 3 to oura 4 not worth the upgrade, paying a monthly subscription is bad enough.
The one that brought changes in the next generation is Ringconn. Using Gen 2 for a few weeks is an upgrade of design and battery life incredible. At the same time, I have Ultrahuman Air - but a 4-5 days battery from the beginning is very sad cause after ten months, it will be 2-3 days. Since Oura is still with subscription - Thank you, next...
Price is just too much. Subscription model is fine, but to pay $350 for the ring and then $70 each year is just crazy. The actual ring price then should be way lower, like $60-70 max.
that bit wellue ring is the best! if you're healthy they you won't notice but if you have sleep apnea then your spo2 will drop down to very low as low as 70% but on the Oura or apple or any wearable it will show up at 90% or higher
@@LindaASJ I wouldn`t buy the ring to track during sports. I think the ring is better for lifestyle tracking - sleep, stress, e. g. Also the original comment never said anything about lifting weights but SpO2 during sleep 😄

What finger do you wear it on? I have the gen 4 sizing kit. The 6 fits best on my index finger of my non dominant hand but it got quite tight overnight. The 7 is more comfortable but I don’t think it’s snug enough… should I get the 6?
Conceptually, the Oura ring is a fantastic idea; I use one. However, its capacity to handle multi-phasic sleeping is less than 50%. IT DOES NOT CAPTURE SPEEP INTERRUPTIONS OR 100% OF NAPS TAKEN BY A USER. This limits its usefulness for multi-phasic sleepers and brings into question the integrity of its conclusion algorithms BECAUSE it is a logic flaw. The old saw applies: IF THERE IS ONE SNAFU, there will always be another. I have written them on the matter via the app., they are strangely silent. That clearly means they do not have answers.
What I want to know is how often does G4 sample SPO2 during sleep? Did that change compared to G3? I use another ring like the one you showed that samples my SPO2 and pulse every 4 seconds, but it doesn’t do HRV every 5 minutes like Oura does. My Apple Watch is very low res in these metric, which is why I supplement it with a second ring.
I had an Oura Ring 2 and got the 3 to be grandfathered into free subscription. This looks like a hard pass, especially if it will cause me to be forced into the subscription model when there are other options that are free.
