    This presentation was for me like being under a hypnotic spell. I sat at my table and computer (with obligatory cat in front of me) and relaxed into presence. Colin, you have a gift. Now all I can hear is the humming of my refrigerator behind me (oh, and the delivery van that has just arrived outside). You mentioned hearing and seeing, but I don't recall you mentioning smell. My cat has just farted.

      Hahaha! Nothing like a cat releasing toxins to bring you into the moment! Smell for sure is a very powerful tool for presence, especially when it triggers a state of appreciation, which is a state of Presence, a state of isness. Smell can also trigger nostalgia, memory, and many other states. It's such a powerful sense that it can be sometimes be all consuming. Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. 🙏

    What a new insights I never heard of before! Because of technology and a lot of information we are bombarded with, we find it hard to become present

    Tai chi is great for being present but can you actually use tai chi to fight?

    • @CenterLifeBalance
      @CenterLifeBalance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tai chi can be used in a fight but only if you are well trained .it takes much longer to develop martial skill in tai chi because the skills that you are developing are relaxation, balance, alignment, and whole body moving as one. When you have all of these you will have internal power and speed. At that point techniques are irrelevant. If you are missing any one of the qualities mentioned above your martial arts skills will be quite low. You would still be better at self defence than you would be without tai chi, but it wouldn't be effective in combat until you have developed the qualities. Tai chi is ultimately about developing power. If you are more powerful that the opponent, if you can force their movement through power, you will control the situation. Without relaxation power will not flow freely, without relaxation the whole body cannot unite and move as one and power will be reduced, wherever there is tension will be weakness in the structure. A breaking point. This is one of the reasons it takes many years to develop martial skill in tai chi. Hope that clarifies a bit for you. 🙏
