Why does he say in the end that the Ubykhs had chosen death over leaving their homeland? Didn't most of the Ubykhs leave for Ottoman empire (more than any other tribe)?
Because the store is always more important than the truth. Many died, still
Prior to the battle of krasnaya polyana, the ubykhs were given a choice of surrendering and being resettled elsewhere, but the ubykhs chose to fight a gauranteed losing battle. A huge portion were massacred and the rest had no choice but to flee to other circassian tribes or to the ottoman empire.
Most Circassian tribes chose death over leaving but they had to respect the decision of their leader to stop the war, you can see the shapsugh tribe numbers for example, before and after, it shows how many chose death over surrendering, but it doesn't matter as long as we're Circassians and our cause is just, we are one.
