The first Motovlog of my new channel. We all have to start somewhere!
At 58 years old I'd never ridden a motorbike but always wanted to. So I took the plunge and signed up for my CBT and theory test and promptly bought my first ever motorbike, a Honda CB125F.
This channel is going to be detailing my exploits and progress as I work up to taking my DAS and beyond.
Completely new to motorbikes, I am sure I will be making plenty of mistakes along the way.
Pootling around the South Wales Valleys here in the UK, chatting along. May be some bike reviews to follow? Some kit/product reviews maybe? Who knows.
So come along with me The Moto Vlogging Jeweller at my very first attempt at Motorvlogging.
Passed my bike test 2 years ago at the young age of 66 got a royal Enfield super meteor 650 and I’m loving it ,so you’re never too late loving your vids 👍✅
Hi everyone, i'm 67 years old and just started taking motorcycle lessons to prepare for my CBT, I just bought a Honda CB125F as now i'm retired and after years of driving a car i wanted to experience riding a Motorcycle,so far lessons going good just trying to master the Figure of 8 going around cones at slow speed,a bit harder than it looks. Videos like this give me more encouragement, thank you 😀
I sat watching this smiling and nodding my head to most of it. I'm 56 and jumped on a motorbike for the first time ever at the CBT April this year, loved it so much I bought a CB125F almost the week after. Highway code revision...exactly as you 😀. Theory done and just completed the Mod1 two weeks ago, going for Mod2 mid October. Thanks for posting the video and keep them coming, Glad to have found you!
Nice going. Had you much practice before taking the mod 1? Good luck on the mod 2. Let us know how you got on 👍🏼
I had a full day professional training alongside another 50+ rider (uncanny) other than that only covered about 500 miles 'road experience' on the CB since April. Watched a lot of Mod 1 videos but that was about it. I tried to enjoy the whole thing and I think that was key really. Like many say, the larger 650cc bikes for Mod1 are so much easier to ride, just heavier thats all. Will keep you posted on the Mod 2 for sure 😊 All the best to you, keep safe.
Hello from a 54 year old biking newbie. I am doing my local drivers licence in a few days time.
This vlog really encouraged me. Thank you.
I’m in south wales too and at 48 a new starter. Looking at either a CBF CBR or MT125…pros and cons for all I guess. CBT next couple of weeks and see where we go 🎉 (I’ve got a new rider course before my CBT just to get a flavour and some instruction)
Good for you olde timer, i'm 75 yrs young ,i have 2 bikes & i ride out nearly every day, even manage to get a few rides in winter as long as our roads are clean. You're never too olde to ride as long as you feel comfortable doing it. Keep on keeping on, ric, an olde guy from ontario canada. P.s., i really like your video, anybody who gets out there on their bike deserves a huge thumbs up.
well welcome to motorcycling and vlogging, it took me 20 years to put a camera on my helmet, but 23 years to start a channel. congrats. enjoy the journey and we will be here looking at what you create. mine is still on the working end as 10 videos in and not popular as I smoke a pipe or cigar and review and tell a story. looking forward to what you bring.
I’ve been riding for about 40 years, 125’s are great! Enjoy your rides. I’ll look forward to your future videos.
keep it up mate, nice capture here
I'm almost 53, Never even had a car licence, never bothered me. But aiming to get the Bike stuff on early next year. Thanks for the vid!
Fantastic stuff!! Love it.. welcome to motovlogging and the very best way to see places, on 2 wheels..
Wonderful. Have my own CB125F (2019) and passed MOD 1 2 weeks ago. MOD 2 Dec 21st. Large deposit on a CB500F ;-)
I truly wish you well in your adventures on two wheels.
Well done for taking the plunge and getting your first bike, i ride an LML star 125 (vespa PX) and a VFR 800 and love both. I've all the gear to vlog and no idea how it works. So im very interested and looking forward to your upcoming videos on your channel. Good luck.
What a brilliant first motovlog. Your sound and visuals are spot on. I’ve been doing it for a few years and can’t get my sound that clear.
Your riding looks good as far as I can tell. Clutch control etc will become natural in time. Just pretend you are invisible and assume that at every junction someone is going to cross your path. All the best 👍🏼
When I was riding around Italy, there were times when I would scream inside my helmet because of the raw beauty of nature. No idea where I was. I'll never pass through there again. You turn a corner and are suddenly confronted by the most beautiful sight nature has to offer. I wished back then, and still do now, to have someone on the back to share that feeling with. You're a lucky man that your wife is ok riding pillion. You'll have a lot of fun. Safe journeys to you!
Brilliant! Welcome to the world of motorcycles and the glorious feeling of freedom it gives you.
Your video and riding style are great. Love it. You've another subscriber
woo exact same bike, colour and everything :D
Firstly well done on making the decision to start riding bikes and passing your CBT. As a volunteer Instructor you are riding well from what I have just watched. The quality of your vlog is first rate, so well done on that, my first ones were rubbish compared to yours.
I am liking and subbed as it will be good to see you progress through you future tests to get a full licence. most of my content is either based on new riders or us more mature riders and you fit in to both of them. Oh and touring.
Once again well done and looking forward to further content
Better mpg than a car and far more fun😊
Loved this, I have been thinking of taking my CBT now for about 6 months, at 55 I was thinking am I too old. Your post has helped make my mind up, its now or never. I have two older brothers who have held a bike license an owned bikes since they were 17 and a dad who owned a series of Nortons, Ariel’s, etc. driving a car has become so boring and every journey is irritating the hell out of me, like you I don’t want to race around I just want to travel with a little bit of excitement and thrill. Hope you don’t mind the pun, “ this really was a diamond in the rough” when it comes to TH-cam videos. Of course you don’t mind a pun you’re over fifty 😄
Yea I had been thinking about it for many years too but just thought one day, “why are you putting it off, you’ll either love it or hate it” and I bloody loved it.
Hi there, i done my CBT in January this year at the age of 55 after years of thinking about it. I now ride a Zontes G1 125 and its great, go and do your CBT and see what you think.
@@karlgable6587 Hi Karl, as soon as I get the money I will be taking my CBT. I have a son at University and one just starting out in the world of work so any spare cash makes it’s way to them first. So a bit like a teenager I have asked everyone to give me money at Christmas and birthdays and the bike will have to go on old fashioned HP. Good hear your experience it’s inspiring
I'm 77 yo. Have just ordered this Motorcycle. At 55 you're only a lad. Just bloodywell do it !
@@kevinbourke4038. Thanks Kevin, I finely took my CBT two weeks back, now saving to get a 125 some experience and then take my full license as soon as possible. I should add that I loved taking my CBT, when we did the 2 hour road section it felt like half an hour and I could have ridden on for another two hours. I never felt like that taking my car test. Great to hear your riding at 77 gives me inspiration that I have plenty of years to enjoy biking. Cheers and thanks again for the reply
Hopefully I will do it too this year.
Thank you.
Just came across your site tonight and the quality is first class. Do everything at your own pace, take your test and upgrade the bike. I’ve a 2014 cb500f and they’re superb (I’m 63), and once your wife goes out with you and gets the biking bug, bingo, you’ve a 125 there for her to learn on, happy days ..looking forward to more vids , well done
Great video 👍 now you need to get a RE Classic350 !!
You're not old mate. I'm old ! - I am 77 yo and just bought my Honda CB 125 F
Haven't ridden a motorcycle for at least 40 years.
The CB 125 F is such a forgiving bike ! So easy to brush up my riding techneque, I'm getting there, slowly......
Greetings mate from Melbourne, in the big brown bastard country down under.
😅
PS - I have found it's easier (for me) to do U turns - from stationary - in 2nd gear - less 'snappy' less feathering on the clutch. very little throttle required.
I also ride bicycles. Good for leg muscles, the Honda - good for my brain 'muscle'
Nice video that, Purchased the same bike lovely to ride
41 passed my cbt a fortnight ago, picking up my ‘13 CB125F tomorrow. Theory booked for December 😬👊🏼✊🏽👊🏼✊🏽omg I’m local to you, that’s Massy to Caerphilly my second favourite lane
Great vid, well done. Looks like you're getting the hang of things pretty quickly! Good advice from saddle bags about junctions 👍 I'm 68 and started riding again 4 yrs ago as I have the time and funds now. Like you I bought a brand new bike and 4yrs on still love it.
So pleased to have come across your channel it's nice to know there are others out there, it must be the year of the mid life crisis 😂 as I have also done the same as you, started riding in August this year passed the theory on a Monday done the CBT the day after loved it that much bought an XSR125 5 days later.
Hi moter bike jewler, great to hear you are enjoying riding for the first time and to hear how you are doing. Keep it up and I did the same CBT and therey and then did my direct access and when l past mod 1 and 2 I got a kawersaki e r 6 n 650 and at the time it was a good first big bike so I heard that the Honda 5oo x is a good bike
Fellow CB125F owner here!
the thing is, a 125 is now the perfect bike, with the speed limit change ( hate it) but they are more economical, easier to maintain, and in general cheaper to own, good luck on your journey and most of all enjoy it
Always nice to see other Ol' Dudes getting either on bikes for the first time or returning after years away. Enjoy your rides, good luck with your courses, should you choose to go further with it. 👍🙂
Get crash bars when get bigger bikes & always wear a jacket, boots, gloves.
You did the right thing getting the 125cc they're great to build your confidence on before going bigger if you're never rode before test.
Best to pull clutch all the way in for smoother shifts & less wear to cogs etc.
At 59 I figured "It's not going to be a better time." So I signed up for a two day class and got my license. It's been quite enjoyable. If you're interested, go do the class. Nothing to lose.
Hello I started my bike (sh125i) 2019 with CBT & passed A1 auto(2021) & passed A2 auto (2022). Due to my leg problem I have problem with left foot gear shifting. However I really wish to learn manual bike. I am 50 years old you man. 😂
I passed my CBT here in Ireland end of August, still don't have a bike lol. but had my eye on the CB125F, Or an old Rebel 250 for the extra power but they're hard to find in decent shame here.
People at the CBT ( IBT ) were advising me to go for much faster bikes, I don't think it's a good idea lol.
I think Honda are missing in lower seating bikes, they have the Rebel but that's it. Bikes like the Royal Enfield 350.
The CB range of bikes apart from the CB125F are very expensive, a CB300R is 7,100 Euro's in Ireland.
Honda have nothing else in the 250-300 range of cheaper bikes. .
The Rebel 500 is 8400 - 8900 Euro's.
Also, higher powered 125s are missing too.
Small capacity bikes ride differently to big bikes. You enjoy what you see. Not following white line. 😊 been doing it for 20 od years.
Get a copy of the Road craft hand book. Best advise for motorbiking the Police use. Good luck and just enjoy .
It is funny hearing the same thing.... "I've never been into motorbikes" 😂 Heard it so many times from us older newbies. I need to book my theory, I've had my CBT for two months now and was also undecided to buy a 125, but I chose to, just a cheapish Chinese made Bluroc Legend , old school looking bike, yeah it's slow, but the experience gained already is worth buying it, and I'll just sell it on once I've got my license. The slow manoeuvres practice gives so much more confidence when you're out and about, must get some cones too.
I’m chomping at the bit now and want to get my mod 1 done but I’m gonna leave it to the New Year now
58 isn't old :D
Speak nan Speak more , boring without much conversation 👎👎
