I love how they give Mickey more attention in this new version, especially in the introduction. I also love how in the introduction, they put Mickey's voice to express his reaction about what's happening.
I love the genie part! I know Robin Williams didn't want Disney to make the movie about him and more about the story, I think Disney knows how much he meant to a lot of people and wanted to celebrate him for his contribution to this and creating the genie for all of us rather than just selling him out. It feels more of a celebration of him!
Words cannot express how happy I am with the new intro...that "wow!" factor with those pixie dust effects leading up to Mickey's debut really hits the spot!!! Also, I have to say that the new effect in which Mickey defeats the dragon with a jet of sparkles from his hands is much more better than the original "magic sword", it really adds to the magic and storytelling of the show. On a side note, I also love that extra burst of fire at the dragon's defeat...really sells it at that point! And I'm especially speechless at the finale...those new fireworks that shoot off behind Mickey are awesome! And I love and appreciate how they keep the original ending...and those mysterious end notes of "The Sorceror's Apprentice" adds a nice, final touch. I'll have to get used to some of the new changes, especially the new "Pirates" scene, but the new technology and effects totally make up for it..and adds to a whole new level of storytelling to it as well! So overall, I'm really loving this upgrade. It's a perfect example of taking an original favorite and giving it an extra dose of magic.
Obliviously lol, Please don’t try to school me on Classic Disney characters. I’ve seen Sleeping Beauty, and Fantasmic a million times. I’m just praising the pyrotechnics on the Dragon.
my one thing, and its a tiny thing, is the new vocals. lol im not crazy about this new singing track, i think the old vocals were much more powerful and i guess nostalgic. That being said, this looks AMAZING!!! unfortunately im going to have to wait until christmastime to see it for myself, but that makes me all the more excited for it!!!!!
Alright, this will be a lil bit long. When I heard that they would be stopping the regular Fantasmic shows for updates to the show itself and Rivers of America/Big Thunder Trail for the upcoming Star Wars Land, I was disappointed. But of course, I trust DIsney and no matter how much people complain about the changes that they make to the parks, they are (almost) always great. I mean, look how Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout turned out over at DCA! 1:20 So, at the beginning: It all looks pretty much the same. *Disclaimer: I went to Disneyland for the 1st performance of Fantasmic 2.0 but did not record it.* The music was almost completely untouched, which I thought was great. I did notice some new french horn notes throughout the main theme, but that just added to the greatness of this theme. The returning music sounds as powerful and nostalgic as ever. 4:50 One of my favorite additions to the show was the Lion King/Jungle Book scene. Even though it seemed like not very many people agree with me, I think it builds more of a crazy party atmosphere instead of an ominous villain scene with Kaa and King Louie. The movement and the energy from the performers made me want to stand up and dance. 6:28 I think the updated visuals for the elephant scene look really cool and trippy. 7:25 The inclusion of Genie was also really awesome. I love how it seemed that mist screen Genie was actually interacting with Mickey. Robin William's voice made me get the chills. I don't know, I guess I miss him too much. Also, great little nod to the Pinocchio puppets with Mickey, Minnie, and Daisy from the original Fantasmic. 8:21 The addition of The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo to Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket underwater scene was majestic. Ariel's theme and Nemo's theme gave me the chills. However, to up the chill factor, I wish they would include more of "When You Wish Upon A Star" during Pinocchio and Jiminy's scene. It would really jerk the tears out of everyone. Also, Monstro is as intimidating as ever. 10:28 And now on to perhaps the most controversial change of the entire show. Being that Peter Pan was pretty much my childhood, I was upset when I learned that they would be changing that scene to a Pirates of the Caribbean scene. However, as I said before, I trust Disney and I always expect the changes that they make to be good. In this case, I thought they did a pretty good job. Maybe some Will Turner and more Barbossa? Besides that, I was pretty surprised to see how good it turned out to be. 13:28 The new Aladdin scene looks great. The only other thing that I can say about this was that I am glad that they didn't include any Frozen in this part of the show. Being that Rapunzel and Flynn aren't as toxic as Anna, Elsa, or Kristoff, I was quite satisfied with the change. Regardless, you will be missed, Snow White. 17:05 The villains look pretty darn good for their age. I can tell that they were trying to involve Mickey more in each of the villain's sections. The only downside to this scene was that I thought that they would include more villains, like the version in Florida. But, I guess they just kept it short and sweet to Ursula, Chernabog, and Maleficent again. Oh well. 21:30 The dragon looks awesooome! Maybe up the action between Mickey and the dragon some more, but I guess that the old part where Mickey just pointed a sword at Maleficent and she died was kinda stupid. I also feel like the death scene looked way better than it did before. 22:53 Tink gave me major chills. Just a side note. 23:48 The characters on the Mark Twain all look very energetic and happy as the show comes to a close. Has anyone really noticed the difference in enthusiasm between the ending performers in Disneyland and Walt Disney World? Maybe it has something to do with it being opening night for Fantasmic 2.0 in California, I don't know. 25:39 No comment. Mickey's finale look freaking amazing. And that's all. Thanks for reading an average Disneyland-goer's take on Fantasmic 2.0.
I was there on that day for my birthday trip And I wasn't even aware that there was a new version of the show, Until I saw a sign I presented the premiere of Fantasmic 2.0. This cast member saw me standing behind the crowd and she offered me a front row seat and she even gave me a churro during the show. That really made my day, I kinda almost wanted to cry.
I am at a loss for words after what I just saw, so I'm just gonna say this: THAT WAS INCREDIBLY FANTASMICALLY REMARKABLY SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICALLY AWESOMETACULARSAUCEBALLS!!!!!!!! I've never said that before in my life, and I'm glad I saved it for that particular moment, because that was WHOA.
As a person who has seen the original many times growing up with Disney I must say this new version is FANTASMIC. I must now plan another trip to Disneyland just to see it in person. I loved the old one and it will always hold a special place in my heart but, the update was much needed. I like that they kept most of the music the same the music is AWESOME. I also like that it didn't stray so far from the original as to be unrecognizable to the fans who grew up with it while also being current enough to draw in new fans.
I have never been able to go to any Disney Park, so I am forever grateful that you were able to capture this beautiful moment. i am at loss for words for how incredible that performance was. It really lives up to the name Fantasmic.
Seeing this makes me wonder if they'll ever update the Florida version...maybe Maleficent could look like Maleficent and not Maleficent in bed sheets. I mean, lord knows I LOVE the Fantasmic! in Florida. But, to be fair, it wouldn't hurt to have a few changes every now and then, or at least some refurbishment to it. Something that the Florida show does have in its advantage over this is its staging area. There is still some room around it in case they ever wanted to expand and store different floats.
I couldn’t agree more as the WDW version becomes the inferior LOL I feel as though with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge there will be some downtime for other attractions in Hollywood Studios that need to stay open for the construction that’s going on. Fantastmic! is sure to be one of them.
I’d like to see the silhouettes of the villains the Queen calls upon in the WDW version similar to how Dr Facilier’s shadow demons appear in this version.
Themepark Kid It technically is California's version, but it took a few elements from the one you see in Tokyo such as when Mickey gets sucked into the Magic Mirror. Also, if you haven't seen the Tokyo version, WATCH IT. IT'S SO GOOD
You are not alone, and what the hell are some people saying the Florida one is better, I watch it all the time and the effects and hand me down dragon head are so outdated.
I can' t believe how much has changed and how INCREDIBLE the new version is!!! Thank you so so so much for sharing for a fan in Australia who can't get to the parks for while to enjoy :)
After many years Disney finally made sorcerer mickey fight maleficent dragon yes I know Tokyo Disney has somewhat of that battle, but this version is using the closet thing to the advertisements
Nick Slasher57 I’m one of the so called critics who sometimes think original is better, but, I will say, am totally digging this version. Disney is pretty good at giving their classic material an overhaul to better expand with the newer Disney fans, all while keeping the loyal fan entertained. I’m a loyal.
I had this open originally with 103 views...I just refreshed and your'e at 13,000---and you deserve all the views! Thanks for the video. This is amazing.
It's new, it's fresh and it's more spectacular in my opinion. Sometimes the lightshow is a bit of a mess because too many colors are used, also I'm not really keen on the overload of lasers. Overall, great to see that Disney keeps updating their shows.
I was a Cast Member in the 80's and saw the original on the second day. I think this is a well done update using the tech they're using basically on every other outdoor show ... like projection mapping-that tech is like Cortisone...you can apply it anywhere and it works...and it's relatively cheap :) I think it's a good refurbishment. But I'm just saying... how great would it have been to see something really surprising and original that no one saw coming? Who the hell knows...maybe something big rising out of the water or something happening right over the audience. And to those that saw the original back in the day and think it was better might consider during it's first years they were treated to something no one had ever seen. That was the first major use of mist screens, it was the first time an entire park area became a theatre. It was an entirely new thing built from a blank sheet of paper. The drone shows at Disney Springs kind of capture that magic of "the first time", even though it's not a WDI creation but instead created by Intel and performed at a Disney venue. Still a good update...but my one knock...yeah POC comes off to me like "And now a word from our sponsors"
22:20. So Mickey is so powerful in that hat that he’s able to beat Ursula, the evil queen, Maleficent, and THE DEVIL HIMSELF. With only one shot. ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Though I was born 8 years after the original Fantasmic premiered, it was always a huge part of my childhood, and definitely was my favorite Disney parks show of all time. Fast forward to 2017, when they announced they were going to make some changes to Fantasmic. At first, this news made me very skeptical. "How could they change it?!" "Are they going to keep [insert scene here]?!" "Why would they try to change perfection?" July 16th, 2017. After over a year of being without this show, I was excited yet still skeptical about what this new Fantasmic was going to be like. Then the show started. From the first moment that note at 1:38 hit and the spotlights shone, my jaw DROPPED, and continued to stay dropped for about 3 minutes. That excitement carried throughout this entire show. Needless to say, I LOVE the changes they made, and they made an already perfect show even better.
Disney World has a different version than Disneyland. Some very obvious differences are when Mickey appears at Disneyland, he appears after the projected sparkles come onstage but in Disney World Mickey doesn’t appear until after the words “Dream a fantastic dream” At Disneyland, They have the Jungle Book segment while Walt Disney World has a whole Lion King segment. At Disneyland they have an Aladdin segment whereas Disney World has (or used to have) a Pocahontas segment which got cut for a heroic moments segment. At Disneyland they have a Pirates of the Caribbean segment whereas Disney World doesn’t. At Disneyland they have an introduction to the princess segment with the sorcerer hat and Aladdin and Jasmine onstage on the magic carpet while Disney World doesn’t. In the Princess segment Disneyland has Rapunzel and Flynn at the end of the Princess segment whereas Disney World has Snow White and Prince Florian (yes that’s Snow White’s prince’s name) at the end of the Princess segment. At Disneyland they have the 45 foot tall Maleficent Dragon animatronic whereas Disney World has a dragon head and wings. At Disneyland they have a Wider and larger Mark Twain boat whereas Disney World has a smaller and thinner boat. Which one do you like better? Like for Disneyland reply for Disney World.
Take my daughter to Disneyland was my gift for her birthday. She cried when the ship with all characters on board passed in front of us waving the crowd
Thank you so much for posting this video! I'm not sure what the old version of the show at Disneyland was like, but having just seen the Disney World version, the only thing I was disappointed about was that Mickey doesn't get a sword to defeat Maleficent with (which, honestly, isn't something I care *too* much about). My favorite changes are the additions of Kaa and King Louie, and I also love Aladdin and Jasmine floating on the magic carpet.
Mickey used to have a sword in this version before the update. He was also dressed as the Brave Little Tailor when defeating Maleficent. I must say, I kind of like it better with him as the Sorcerer's Apprentice. ;)
Yep, that's exactly how it still is in Disney World. I liked the additional costume change, but Sorcerer Mickey defeating Maleficent without a sword is a worthy replacement :)
I love this version, even though I miss some elements of the older one. and I just can't figure out how some think WDW Hollywood version is better. Disneyland is far more magical.
I am actually totally cool with this update. The perfect blend of old and new. I just wish that it featured a few more villains teaming up against Mickey like Hades, Dr. Facilier, Scar, and Davy Jones.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I forgot how to be a kid again. I'm going to be 40 next Feb and I am a mom now, I will be showing this to my son who is 5. Thank you!!!!! 😊
The ship from pirates of the Caribbean part was........Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to take my kids to see this in person!!!!!!!! They would love this!!!!!!! ❤️
Ahhh, still got it! And as with the end of every show there, the foot traffic nightmare where it either takes you 30 minutes to get out, or 30 minutes to get in. :P
This is freaking awesome! have bin to disneyland once and really really, realy really really wanna go again in the close future... As far as this show gose, it looks freaking amazeballs! but uhmm lets be honest... with a little bit of weed this would be the ultimate space! @.@
After seeing both in Disneyland’s and Walt Disney World’s Fantasmics in person I love them both in different ways. I feel like they’re different for a reason. Some people like one over the other and that’s their opinion. Please let people have their opinions. There are elements I like better at Disneyland’s version and there are elements in the WDW’s version I like more, but they are both excellent shows and they both are enjoyable shows.
And I think he'd be smiling right now.
I love BOTH Robin Williams and The Genie (from "Aladdin")!

When the dragon blast one more breath of fire before it dies is so awesome!

Yeah, I agree the new vocals aren't as good as the originals. Glad they kept the original choral parts, though.

At first it is strange not to see some parts you love. But in the end this updated version is spectacular. Looking forward to see it live.
My heart saddened a bit when the Genie appeared. I think we all still miss Robin Williams.
Skeptical Chris long live Robin Williams, the one true genie
RIP Robing WIlliams
he’s with us in his own way
Yea
Absolutely OUTSTANDING!! The work, technology and creativity by all who were involved in bringing this together.

You should see the original show
Josh Freilich the original was sooooo much better don't know why they had to ruin a perfect show like that
ThatHauntFreak2 already have and I like both versions of this, but I still think Orlando is better
Josh Frei ylixlid 9ch
Sorcerer SMC
Lol. The one in Orlando is not better than the one in Anaheim.

back in 2010 we're I was 6 I remember the old old show watching this made me tear up. Good work disney! thank you for posting this video!!!! ❤
The "Some imagination, huh?" line gets me every time.
I got emotional since it's back. Literally got emotional by everything 😭😭❤️❤️

Just WOW! My eyes sweat with respect. Fantastic! Love the update.
No Frozen. Just the way I like it.
captaintaco2345 same I hate frozen
I don't hate Frozen, but it is severely overrated. Moana and Tangled are way better.
careful...they can add it in 2021
Christian Reites or a winter edition of Fantasmic.
Or Anna & Elsa in the finale.
I got absolute major chills and I was crying so badly!!!!!! Disney can't ever be beat!!!!!!!!
I loved it when I saw this in August of 2017 with my dad. #firsttimeatdisneyland . Maybe the best memory there!
I absolutely love the dragon towards the end, it was just amazing! nice job disneyland
I work this show twice a night, every night since I started working at Disneyland, yet I'm still here watching it.
This version is partly a crossover of California and Tokyo's versions, which is completely what I want to see. Best Fantasmic ever.
Jason Chak seriously......our fastamic was perfect, don't know why they had to change so much of it....and I had been watching it since the 90s
Jason Chak OMG IT CAME OUT ON MY B DAY
This is California's version..
Themepark Kid It technically is California's version, but it took a few elements from the one you see in Tokyo such as when Mickey gets sucked into the Magic Mirror.
Also, if you haven't seen the Tokyo version, WATCH IT. IT'S SO GOOD
It was the best version. 1.0 flowed. This is a forced clip show.
I love the end when all the characters are on the boat dancing its so happy.
RIP peterpan you will always be my favorite part of the show
and snowwhite
Peter Pan is actually returning when the show returns after the fire
Amazing! Adorable! Incredible! And most important, Fantasmic!
I did not think it was possible to improve on the original. I am at a loss of words at how amazing this is
7:30 - 8:20 THE MUSIC IN THIS SCENE ALONE makes this my favorite new scene in Fantasmic 2.0. THAT JAZZ REMIX IS ABSOLUTELY KILLER!!!
Am I the only one who loves the updated version?
Um, no? I've heard almost universal praise for it.
Mastah Frederique Really? Cool!
NOPE!
You are not alone, and what the hell are some people saying the Florida one is better, I watch it all the time and the effects and hand me down dragon head are so outdated.
To bad they are'nt going to update wdw's fantasmic until next year DX
The video quality is amazing! And wow, that dragon is INSANE! Ours is so lame it's literally a head on a stick.
I can' t believe how much has changed and how INCREDIBLE the new version is!!! Thank you so so so much for sharing for a fan in Australia who can't get to the parks for while to enjoy :)

Ok good its not just me haha
oh geez i thought i was the only one ha. Leave it to Disney to take the best thing at Disneyland and make it even better

Disney at their best!!!😍😍😍

How come Disney World doesn't have Fantasmic 2.0? I wish had the new version of Fantasmic. All we can do for now is hope for one day to come true
Maura Taboo Maybe for the 50th Anniversary, bud!
Mickey Mouse like disney world needs a new dragon, beter water screens and ect asap
This show is unbelievable. So much fun
Though I was born 8 years after the original Fantasmic premiered, it was always a huge part of my childhood, and definitely was my favorite Disney parks show of all time.
Fast forward to 2017, when they announced they were going to make some changes to Fantasmic. At first, this news made me very skeptical. "How could they change it?!" "Are they going to keep [insert scene here]?!" "Why would they try to change perfection?"
July 16th, 2017.
Welcome back, Fantasmic! We missed you so dearly...
Omg literally cried the whole time. 😭😭😭 so cool!!!
ITS BACK YASSSSSS
Disney World has a different version than Disneyland.
Some very obvious differences are when Mickey appears at Disneyland, he appears after the projected sparkles come onstage but in Disney World Mickey doesn’t appear until after the words “Dream a fantastic dream”
At Disneyland, They have the Jungle Book segment while Walt Disney World has a whole Lion King segment.
Both are unique in their own ways. For me, Disneyland does some things better than Disney World and Disney World does some things better
I'm gonna miss the original so much. But this ones pretty good. Can't top the OG tho
I saw it live last October, and seeing Maleficent and Dragon was great, even though she had a short time there. Love her
Best show ever!!! I can play this on my clarinet! NO JOKE!!
Loving the new World of Color fountains they added! Makes the show so much better!!!
Thanks for getting this up so fast. Cool to see it so soon after premier
This is Disneyland California? So Beautiful show. Incredible, Amazing and magic at the same time.
One day I go to California for this.
I like old fantasmic show I can't wait to see updated of the show
I love this version, even though I miss some elements of the older one. and I just can't figure out how some think WDW Hollywood version is better. Disneyland is far more magical.
I am actually totally cool with this update. The perfect blend of old and new. I just wish that it featured a few more villains teaming up against Mickey like Hades, Dr. Facilier, Scar, and Davy Jones.
I love this!!! Though I really liked the Peter Pan part in the previous version, I'm so happy they put pirates of the caribbean in it!!!
Riley Buechler Yeah but I think peter pan got replaced cause it was to happy with the mickey drowning thing
Hands down the best version of Fantasmic
It's good to this show back again it's been a long while since we seen this. Thank you for sharing awesome
This is amazing!!! Thanks for posting this.
This looks better than ever.
... now you think Disney World could have these fancy updates too?
Hype VoiceActing yes, but with a ton of differences from this
Good job, thanks for the great video!
This show has changed so much!!!
GREAT movie camera photography ..... thanks for posting !
Loved the techo- pink elephants on parade part omg
It's a missed opportunity that they didn't have Mickey talking and whinking, but this update is FANTASTIC!
flakecorns All the water might touch the face and probably electrocute the actor
Absolutely mesmerising...
I WAS HERE, THIS EXACT DATE 🤣
People are gonna go nuts for this
The Kaa update is amazing
They FINALLY fixed the Ten(s)ticles part. Glad they finally noticed their 1990s mistake 😂 Potty mouth Ursula 😂
OMG There's A Dragon
This Is Cool
Ahhh, still got it! And as with the end of every show there, the foot traffic nightmare where it either takes you 30 minutes to get out, or 30 minutes to get in. :P
Absolutely incredible! When they showed the Genie from Aladdin I almost lost my shit
This is freaking awesome! have bin to disneyland once and really really, realy really really wanna go again in the close future...
As far as this show gose, it looks freaking amazeballs! but uhmm lets be honest... with a little bit of weed this would be the ultimate space! @.@
One of the rare times when The Pink Elephants actually *do* fit in a show.
Also *WHOA!*
17:28 Was that Sir Christopher Lee's voice???
After seeing both in Disneyland’s and Walt Disney World’s Fantasmics in person I love them both in different ways. I feel like they’re different for a reason. Some people like one over the other and that’s their opinion. Please let people have their opinions. There are elements I like better at Disneyland’s version and there are elements in the WDW’s version I like more, but they are both excellent shows and they both are enjoyable shows.
This is Stupendous, and I Love It a Lot! :-D
It's Fantastic and amazing. Very enchanting.
