I completed my articles with SNG and was allocated to the general audit team meaning got exposure to companies in health, energy, consulting, construction etc. I never audited companies in the financial services sector. However, since completing my training I've only worked in financial services in non audit roles. You can work wherever you want with the CA(SA) designation, that's what I love about it.
Hi guys, thanks for stopping by! Sikiwe dropped so many gems in this video! Please like and share it if you found value. Here is you time stamp: 00:00 Introduction 01:00 Getting started with her CA (SA) journey with Thuthuka Bursary 06:00 Getting into a training programme 10:17 TIPP vs TOPP Route 16:17 Accounting Routes available 23:11 Working in consulting 28:11 Accounting Salaries realities 34:19 Conclusion We are getting close to 50k subs which means we will have our first ever live chat where you can ask me anything!
10:18 its only the big 4 audit firms that make their trainees to specialiaze in 1 industry, in medium to large audit firms, you do all industries. I've done Contrustions/Manufacturing, Retail, IT, Motor Industry(Car Dealerships) and I did intensive tax, after qualification I automatically got a Tax Practitioner designation.
So a lot of our brothers & sisters are educated now which is a good thing! How ever I always ask myself, why are we not using our education to improve our "black" communities. I am not saying people should spend money but I am talking about "volunteering projects " of some sorts. People can volunteer their skills, donate some stuff like school shoes/sanitary towels etc/ offer pro bono services etc. How are all these Master's & PHD's benefiting black communities & society in general because we are not big on creating employment as we are always wanting to be "employed".
Hi Sbo, there are a lot of black professionals who are self-employed or creating jobs, I'm one of them, it's just that this is not the platform for business people. There are many channels who focus on Enterpreneurship and you won't see people who are career driven telling those people to want "employment" We can't all want the same things or go in the same direction because we are not water. Uyasazi less sisho sesi Zulu. On helping black communities, I believe my guests are doing that by taking their time to share their journeys with us, a lot of young stars can do something about it to better themselves and we cannot assume that educated people are not doing anything in their communities. I also know this comment is not directed to Sinikiwe, but how do you know how she spends her time outside of work? She has a whole channel dedicated to young professionals who are interested in the accounting stream. Is that not a way of giving back? We need to shy away from dictating how people should contribute to society. Stay blessed 🙌
Yes it’s definitely growing. Some organisations now have stand alone Sustainability or ESG and/ or Climate reports where they thouroughly disclose their ESG impacts (over and above the Integrated report) and these do have independent limited assurance on the items disclosed. Usually the big 4 audit firms and other firms provide the independent assurance.
As long as you have articles, it doesn’t matter too much where you did them. Just be careful that you’re giving your studies enough attention. The goal is to finish and get the designation, so sometimes not giving the dedicated time to studies can make you not finish the CA journey coz it’s difficult to balance work and studies. But if you can balance, then no problem.
Yes, very possible. You need to complete Advanced Certificate in Accounting Science, followed by Advanced Diploma in Accounting Science, followed by CTA(Honours)…
Hi guys. I am doing learnership at ABSA Cyber Security academy around Cape town. Please anyone who know any opportunity of an Internship around cape town please plug me.

ESG investing is becoming a huge thing now, but I wonder how it can be independently reviewed to ensure integrated reports are reliable

Hi Sinikelwe can I have your contact number please
❤❤
Dear Sinikiwe, what is your opinion on doing articles while studying undergrad at a mid-tier firm vs doing articles in a big 4 after CTA.
She will answer you.
As long as you have articles, it doesn’t matter too much where you did them.

Hi Bona is it possible to be a CA if you have internal auditing with no experience
I don't know.
It’s possible, you just need to find a way to pivot.
Yes, very possible. You need to complete Advanced Certificate in Accounting Science, followed by Advanced Diploma in Accounting Science, followed by CTA(Honours)…
