I’ll take you up on that challenge! 👊🏼 You made some really solid choices here that I could see myself getting a lot of value from as well. Apparently you’re just too good for the Venture X though… Capital One is so annoying lol. And btw, CONGRATS on 100k man!! 🎉🎊
Would love to see your take on this as well with a video! Haha yeah Capital One is just not treating me well, but luckily I still was able to have Jackie get it! And thanks so much about the 100k!
Dang, that’s terrible that C1 denied you again! The advice of getting the VX early is solid, and I totally agree. Glad you were able to backdoor into it with P2. This is why I personally ignore C1 because I’d most likely have the same outcome as you!
Haha yeah I know, kind of annoying to get denied twice but I guess they don't want me as a customer! All good though with Jackie getting it as out backup plan, so at least we can still earn some Capital One miles now. But yeah as the Venture X has now been around for almost 2 years now, I think it's clear that it should be an earlier focus instead of late. Hopefully C1 will change their approval process for customers like us, but who knows!
Stan, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Truly appreciate all that you've done to support not just my channel but also the entire credit card community here on TH-cam 🙌
Sorry to hear about the second denial. Super annoying. I guess I got really lucky with my approval despite having around 16 active cards at the time. Excellent video idea here 😍
Haha thanks, yeah definitely a bit annoying to get denied twice! But still glad that I had Jackie to apply as my backup 👍 It's tough to tell exactly when they will approve and when they won't haha. Thanks! I definitely wanna see what kind of hypothetical setups other people might have
I just got the Venture X a month ago since it was the best travel fit and had the 2% catch all. I've held the Discover IT and Prime Visa for many years and use exclusively for the 5% rewards and still get a lot of value from those cards... I do use my Costco Citi for 4% back on gas/ EV charging, so that is usually the best card unless Discover or Visa have the 5% rotation.
Definitely some awesome points and card choices in this video! I was also denied recently for the venture x so back to the drawing board it is! Congrats on 100k, well deserved👍
Thanks Chandler, appreciate it man! Crazy how many people have been denied for the Venture X. And thanks so much about the 100k! Definitely very excited to finally hit that number haha
This video was fun! I love the hypothetical scenarios as they can help draft a real plan of action. If I wasn’t over 5/24, I’d have the CFF, CSP, & Ink Cash! I have the CFU and I was approved this month for the Amazon Prime Visa at 6/24, so I’m hoping they’ll let me slide if an offer comes to one of those cards I mentioned. Sunday is a great day for credit card content, so many uploads! Love your content. - Ivan
Thanks for watching Ivan, glad you liked it! Yeah I figured that this was a bit of a different style, so I had fun with it. Sounds like a great setup you would have if you did this as well! Appreciate you supporting my channel 👍
From a fellow Penn Stater and Philly boy, I’m so glad I found your channel! Love your content! I’m in Cap One 1 in 6 jail for the next few months after getting the Saver One in May. Hoping to add the VX when I’m able! I’d love to pick your brain some time about how you went about getting your channel up, I’m considering starting one
Great to hear from another Penn State/Philly guy! Thanks so much for watching my content and glad you're enjoying it 👍 Sounds like a good strategy to start with the SavorOne and then move on to the Venture X! If I didn't have my fiancé to apply as a backup then I probably would have done the exact same thing to eventually work towards the Venture X. And for sure, shoot me a DM on IG or an email which I have on the About page on my channel! Happy to give any tips or advice
I tried to see if I was pre-approved for the Venture X as well but unfortunately I was not. My Future wallet setup is going to be the Venture X as my catch all and travel card, the Amex gold as my food card, and BILT as my rent and first of the month card. I have several other credit cards that I don’t carry on me such as the discover it, savor one, Amazon store card (I was denied for the credit card years ago so I got the store card), and Walmart store card (I was a really heavy Walmart shopper at one point in time)
So interesting to see what the hypothetical credit card wallet would look like for different people! May have to take you up on that offer you made in the video and make this video as well!
Yeah I think it’s an interesting idea to hear other people talk about as well! Definitely make a video and then tag me in the description so I get notified!
My ultimate set up? Capital one for 2% on everything and American Express Gold on 4X on dining and groceries. Plus occasional applications for other cards to get sign-up bonuses. And of course some other cards like Discover or Chase for revolving 5%.
Interesting information. I am happy with my set up, but I enjoy your content,...gives me information for the future or possibly for others. I love your two player discussions...its cute
Thanks so much for watching, glad to hear you're enjoying the content! And haha thank you, yeah I like talking about the 2 player strategy because it's fun!
Gongrats on the 100K. Got the VX in May and just got the BILT card. Next up is the CSP and Savor One while my Player 2 grabs the United Explorer Card. Further down the line the AA & Delta cards are options as well as Hyatt and Hilton! Great content as always Daniel.
After hearing about all of the denials, I feel so lucky that I got approved for the VX. I just product changed my CFU and re-applied for it for the 5X on groceries for a year. When the year is up I'll go for the Savor One. This was a fun video!
That is almost my wallet set up. I started with the Discover It student card and now I’m at the Savor One which I recieved in the mail a few days ago. I want to get the Custom Cash next for gas and I’m going to start with one of the Venture cards because I am not ready to commit to the annual fee just yet because I’m still in college and I’m working so I can’t travel once a year just yet. Awesome video and wallet set up 👌🏻.
Nice choices. I think the Ink Preferred is one of the best business card out there, especially with being able to get it now for almost half of the spend.
Thanks John! And yeah for sure, as soon as I saw that the minimum spend decreased, I started to think about how I could add it to my wallet. So hopefully I'll be getting it soon!
Love this video! I am glad I got the Venture X as my 3rd ever card (also it was my wifes first travel card)... its my most used card. Luckily Jackie was able to get it! The only thing youll be missing is the 75k SUB bonus... Im at 4/24 until May 2024 and debating on continuing to get business cards or get the Savor One which ive been itching to get!?!
Thanks David, glad you liked it! Great to hear that you both were able to use the Venture X like that - definitely a very good card to have. But yeah I'm glad at least Jackie was able to get it for our 2 player setup! Tough call on managing the 4/24 status and getting the SavorOne - probably just depends what other cards you're using and if you're thinking about getting a really good Chase card first. Thanks as always for watching and commenting!
I was denied for the venture X back in April for too many accounts. But right now I’m 7/24. I’m hoping to be approved before my vacation in North Carolina. I’m hoping to be approved around April-august of next year. I’ll be below 5/24 in June.
There is a question on the capital one application talking about how often do you carry a balance on your card. I never do as I pay mine off in full, but I answered with often. I have a good income, high 700 credit score, and 14 open credit cards, I honestly think that wets capital one's lips just a little bit.
Yeah I've heard some people say they answered that they carry a balance and some people say that they ignored the question because it's optional. I chose to ignore it, but not sure what kind of an impact that has
I think it's definitely a fine card, but personally I don't like to use my credit card rewards like that. I already invest heavily and optimize that area of my finances separately - then use the points and miles stuff to get the purchasing power for more travel today. The fidelity card is very passive though and still gets you value from using credit cards without the extra work. So if you're someone that doesn't want to learn the points and miles stuff, then I think it's a great card. For me though and the way my system works with my money, I enjoy the travel and the points game. Hope that makes sense! But yeah like always the answer is "it depends" haha
Surprised no one talks about BOA lineup. With preferred status, cash back card gets year round 5.25% on gas, online purchases, + way more categories. 3.5% on Costco and grocery is the cherry on top. Just get one card for each 5.25% category you want. Get their unlimited as a 2.625% catch all.
I finally got the Venture (not VX) when my credit score was the lowest it had ever been (740) and I was carrying a higher balance than usual and had only had 1 hard pull and 1 new card in 6 months.
When you finally get the Venture X, what value will the Chase cards have for you if there are better or equal category multipliers across AMEX and Capital One for all the categories the Chase cards offer? With so many cards, it feels like the points are getting diluted across issuers to the point where getting value out of them beyond the sign up bonus will take a long time.
I recently was approved for the venture X late last month after using the venture one for seven months straight heavy. I wanted to build rapport with capital one and so I think I did. Maybe taking a similar route could help you? Just a thought.
Great to hear that you got approved for the Venture X! Yeah I thought about doing something similar because I did get a message saying that I was preapproved for the SavorOne. But I decided to just have my fiancé apply instead because it was quicker and now kind of allows me to focus on Chase and Amex right now while she can focus on Chase and Capital One and maybe get the SavorOne later. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Sorry about your second denial. I got approved recently but I waited until I had 3/24 (had 3 hard inquiries expire end of July) and waited the 6 months before I applied. Also, I also did get preapproved for the Venture X, but I heard people who did not get preapproved and still get it. Truly weird and not sure what Capital One looks for
Thanks Melissa! Yeah that was probably a good way of doing it yourself - I was at 5/24 when I applied, even though I was at 0/6. It's definitely hard to tell exactly what gets someone approved and what doesn't with Capital One. But it's ok because I knew that if I got denied then my fiancé would have better approval odds!
Hey Daniel, do you think you’ll ever dive into investment accounts or where money people should invest $ into? Just curious if you could add an insight on how money should be invested! I feel like you do great detailed videos on CC.
Would you recommend me get the Venture X first than the savor One?. I only have the blue cash preferred and Bilt. So I need a travel card and the 2X is very interesting
Depends if you would like to have both of those Capital One cards! If you're preapproved and maybe have good odds then you could go for the Venture X. Or just going with the SavorOne first and then the Venture X after at least 6 months would work very well too!
I had 2 accounts with Capitalone I applied for the venture and got denied so I applied the same day for the sapphire preferred and got approved for 8000. So I closed all my Capitalone accounts.
Funny cause i have atleast 10 active open credit cards and i was approved for the venture x. May have to due to the fact that i have 2 capital 1 cards open already and i haven't applied for a new card since March. My credit score is touching 800 pretty much so you should be able to get the venture x without too many issues.
Yeah having those existing Capital One cards could have helped a bit! Honestly it's just a case by case situation with who they approve and who they don't - kind of hard to predict. Even though I was at 0 new cards over 6 months, I'm still at 5 in the last 24 months in general so that still shows a lot of recent activity. I think I would have had better chances if I applied for the Venture X last summer before I got 2 Chase cards and a Citi card within 3-4 months. Who knows haha, but all good because my fiancé was still able to get it for both of us to use 👍 Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah I thought about that because I did get a message saying that I was preapproved for that card. But in the end the easiest way to get the card for now was for my fiancé to get it and then for her to possibly add the SavorOne card later on. Honestly it works out better this way because now she can focus on Capital One miles in our setup, so it's all good!
Haha I saw Taylor and Ed Sheeran as well but just in Nashville. Luckily, you was just hitting a sub at that time anyway. Good point about the opportunity cost on the Discover vs the higher Sub travel cards. I think if I make this video, it’s going to end up being 4 cards with Free Night Certificates and one food card 😬, hmm maybe I will. 🤔
It think it's just ok honestly. Too high of an annual fee for me for what it offers. Even though the annual fee of the Gold card is higher, the credits are better and the points categories are better too - so the Gold card gets much more use for me
I hold the freedom unlimited card that i had for 7 years. Good credit and wanted to get a travel card. The normal way would be to get a sapphire card. But i kinda wanted the venture x. This was the reason i was concerned. I heard they are picky. I thought maybe if i get the harder card first and then swing back to chase for the sapphire. Cause i was doubtful it would work the other way around.
My husband and I both got the venture cards and the Sapphire cards. We have excellent credit and a good income yet Chase won’t approve us for another card saying that our available credit is too high. We asked them to transfer some of the credit to a new card instead of giving us more credit and they said they can’t because we haven’t been with them for 12 months or more. Any advice? Thanks.
Cap1 sucks I have a Quicksilver card with only an $850 limit and a savor with only 3K limit. I have amex BCE with 15K limit and a citi premier with a $10900 limit. Cap1 is extremely stingy
Capital One is definitely a bit different than some other banks with their approvals and credit limits. The limits would be higher for a venture x because it’s a Visa infinite card
Yeah I actually tried but unfortunately Capital One's reconsideration efforts are by far the worst out of any issuer. No help at all when I called to ask, which is what I've heard from other people too. But it's ok because I knew that I had my fiancé to apply as a backup plan, so it all worked out fine in the end 👍
I'd consider that card in the future! But right now I'm loyal to Hyatt and really like their properties the most. I'd say that I've had some good experiences with Hilton too though and that card is one of the best for those that stay with them a lot! So definitely a solid option 👍
I cant even get the just standard venture! Its so annoying. They say too many open lines of credit. So what I'll just never get approved then? I only have 8 cards atm
Yeah Capital One can be tricky sometimes! Are all 8 of those cards recently opened? I was at 5 new cards in the last 24 months and 0 over the last 6 months
The way I understand how the card works and how their membership program works. Just by having a Amtrak membership account, you earn two points per dollar regardless of whatever card you use. If you have any card you can get up to three extra points per dollar.
To be honest I've only traveled with Amtrak I think twice in my life, so I haven't looked into it much and I'd have to do some more research on it. But if you're a big Amtrak user like you said, then maybe it could be an option! Some other good suggestions in these comments too though 👍
@@bladeddavid1144 I may have clicked on the regular Venture card to see if I was pre-approved for that and then Cap1 showed me every card that I was pre-approved for and it included the X. Give it a try
Blue Cash everyday is one of my favorite cash back cards! I just stick with points and miles though, unless it's a card earning 5% cash back like a couple of cards in this video. That Amex cards is definitely not a bad option either though if you prefer cash back 👍
Can you please do a video on how you utilize Amex points for flights? It seems like hotels are easy, just transfer chase points to Hyatt. However, properly redeeming Amex points for flights has been a headache for me to figure out
PEOPLE ARE GETTING SO CAUGHT UP INTO BRAND NAME CREDIT CARDS. I HAVE 35 CREDIT CARDS AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAVE AN ANNUAL FEE. I THINK THAT THE PENFED PATHFINDER WIHICH HAS AN ANNUAL FEE WAIVER BECAUSE I AM EX MILITARY IS JUST AS GOOD AS THE VENTURE X. THE AARP TRAVEL REWARDS IS JUST AS GOOD TOO WITH NO ANNUAL FEE.
That P2 strategy comes in clutch!!@@Daniel_Braun
Dang, that’s terrible that C1 denied you again! The advice of getting the VX early is solid, and I totally agree. Glad you were able to backdoor into it with P2. This is why I personally ignore C1 because I’d most likely have the same outcome as you!
Haha yeah I know, kind of annoying to get denied twice but I guess they don't want me as a customer! All good though with Jackie getting it as out backup plan, so at least we can still earn some Capital One miles now.

Huge congrats on the 100K! You deserve it with the great content. I truly love watching your videos.
Congratulations on hitting 100k subscribers. Proud of you. Keep it going
"What should be in my wallet?" is future oriented. "What's in my wallet?" is so 2022. 😊
Haha I'm trying to move the conversation forward! 👍
Gratz on 100k subscribers! A fresh view on CCs and a nice challenge presented to the community.
This video was fun! I love the hypothetical scenarios as they can help draft a real plan of action.

Thanks for watching Ivan, glad you liked it! Yeah I figured that this was a bit of a different style, so I had fun with it.
Sounds like a great setup you would have if you did this as well! Appreciate you supporting my channel 👍
Congrats on 100k Daniel 🎉
Thanks so much Carlos, I really appreciate it!
Pretty cool idea. I like it. That is some great datapoints/info about the Venture X.
Love this video idea! I'll be taking you up on the challenge as well 😎
Thanks Matt! Let's go! Can't wait to see what you come up with for your video on this
From a fellow Penn Stater and Philly boy, I’m so glad I found your channel! Love your content! I’m in Cap One 1 in 6 jail for the next few months after getting the Saver One in May. That would be a very good setup! Always good to build a solid core like that and then look for good SUBs!
Thanks for sharing Dan. I enjoyed this.
Thanks as always for watching Scott! Glad you liked it 👍
Interesting information. I am happy with my set up, but I enjoy your content,...gives me information for the future or possibly for others. I love your two player discussions...its cute

Great to hear that you've got a couple of these cards already! I think that's a good plan for you 👍

my setup will be C1 VX, US BANK ATTITUBE RESERVE, CHASE INK CASH, IHG PREMIER, AND THREE HILTON ASPIRE...
Great vid! I have the Venture X and will be getting the Savor One soon.

Tough call on managing the 4/24 status and getting the SavorOne - probably just depends what other cards you're using and if you're thinking about getting a really good Chase card first.
Thanks as always for watching and commenting!
Excellent as always! Thanks! I do learn much from you.
Thanks so much for watching! So glad to hear that!
I was denied for the venture X back in April for too many accounts. But right now I’m 7/24. I’m hoping to be approved before my vacation in North Carolina. I’m hoping to be approved around April-august of next year. I’ll be below 5/24 in June.
Yeah Capital One seems to not like approving people who have had too many recent accounts opened
There is a question on the capital one application talking about how often do you carry a balance on your card. I never do as I pay mine off in full, but I answered with often. Get the citi costco anywhere card, it gives you 4% back on gas in the US
I finally got the Venture (not VX) when my credit score was the lowest it had ever been (740) and I was carrying a higher balance than usual and had only had 1 hard pull and 1 new card in 6 months.

But in the end the easiest way to get the card for now was for my fiancé to get it and then for her to possibly add the SavorOne card later on. Honestly it works out better this way because now she can focus on Capital One miles in our setup, so it's all good!
My real question - where do you get your Henley shirts?
Love the content!
Thank you for re applying for Venture X so I know not to now.
Daniel I have a question about Credit Utilization: Does credit utilization consider all credit accounts, or is it a per card evaluation?
Haha I saw Taylor and Ed Sheeran as well but just in Nashville. Luckily, you was just hitting a sub at that time anyway.
Good point about the opportunity cost on the Discover vs the higher Sub travel cards.
I think if I make this video, it’s going to end up being 4 cards with Free Night Certificates and one food card 😬, hmm maybe I will. 🤔
Ritz Carlton card ?
What are your thoughts on the Amex Green card? Would be my first Amex card, not ready for the Platinum or Gold yet.
It think it's just ok honestly. Too high of an annual fee for me for what it offers. Even though the annual fee of the Gold card is higher, the credits are better and the points categories are better too - so the Gold card gets much more use for me
would you make a review of Choice Privileges Select Mastercard Credit Card from wells fargos
Any advice? Thanks.
I locked my Experian credit report and was able to get approved for the venture x shortly after.
I don’t know how people can have more than 5 cards and be able to keep track of which card to use for what.
I think capital one wants to see you carry some balance overtime to approve you. Maybe a few dollars for a few months on the savor one.
@Daniel_Braun couldn't you call up C1 and ask why you got denied and maybe if they see all your attributes- approve you anyways?
Yeah I actually tried but unfortunately Capital One's reconsideration efforts are by far the worst out of any issuer. No help at all when I called to ask, which is what I've heard from other people too. But it's ok because I knew that I had my fiancé to apply as a backup plan, so it all worked out fine in the end 👍
Ah I see, well I’m happy to hear your wife got it and was able to add you as a AU! couple goals fr
No Hilton Aspire???
I'd consider that card in the future! But right now I'm loyal to Hyatt and really like their properties the most. I'd say that I've had some good experiences with Hilton too though and that card is one of the best for those that stay with them a lot! So definitely a solid option 👍
I have 3 out of the 5 cards he mentioned. I’m shocked
Very good cards you have then!
@@Daniel_Braun i have two boa cards that are 7 and 10 years. The rest i didn't get into the credit card game til 2 years ago
I need the C1 duo but I just got Bilt in July so have to wait the 6 months to apply😢
BILT is Wells Fargo, as far as I know Cap One only uses the 6 month rule for their own cards.
@@Genericmember i thought they were sensitive to all hard inquiries within past 6 months
question for you, i am a big amtrak user, what do you think of the amtrak guest preferred?
Amex Green will give you 3x on Amtrak. Overlooked card for sure.
I really would want the capital one savor card
That’s another really great card! 👍
@@Daniel_Braun yep
What's the link to access the Venture X pre-approval?
When I applied it was on the Cap1 website
@@rmknicks I guess it’s not available anymore
@@bladeddavid1144 I may have clicked on the regular Venture card to see if I was pre-approved for that and then Cap1 showed me every card that I was pre-approved for and it included the X. Give it a try
The Amex blue cash card gets no love lol.
However, properly redeeming Amex points for flights has been a headache for me to figure out
Wait, I’m first, I’m first I say! FIRST!!! 😂😂

@@Daniel_Braun Congrats on 100k Daniel! It’s been amazing seeing your channel grow so much!

So close, almost!! But still second comment, so thanks!
