    Alison, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the inspiration who have given me. I started playing violin at age 13 but unfortunately I gave up at 16 years old. February this year I decided to buy myself a violin so I can play again but since I live in the country(well away from many cities and people), I have no one teaching me. That’s where you came to the rescue! Your videos have helped me get back into playing. I still have some trouble reading music and remembering every note but I somehow have gain a little confidence with the help of you. You’re amazing Alison! Never stop being you and keep up the awesome work! Xx Love from your Australian fan Courtney!

      Same to me! I started playing violin at age 12 by a private teacher but I stop practicing after about less than 2 years cause I went to boarding high school, so basically I didn't get any violin lessons for 3 years. I felt like giving up once I graduated from high school but I tried to convinced myself to start learning again by watching your videos and other violinists. Now I'm 18 yo and currently a first-year uni student and I don't want to waste my time again. Thank you for inspiring me!!

    Alison, thanks for the massive effort you have put into your online teaching videos for violin, and making these freely available. I started watching these lessons a couple of years back, and decided to start learning violin in February 2022, using a loan violin. I just turned 68 years of age (just retired from full time work), and your videos have been great. Just started these “beginner” concertos, and thoroughly enjoying the challenge of these beautiful pieces. Thank you so much from Australia.🎻 🦘

    I loved your concerto that you wrote!! I was dancing around the kitchen with my air violin and whistling along to the tune n I wish I could put in a picture here of my dog n cat as I turned around and saw their look of astonishment because I realized I had my ear buds in and they couldn’t hear the music so all they saw was mommy prancing around playing an invisible violin n whistling this really jazzy tune!! Lol ❤️😳😘👏🤪 thank you for starting our day off absolutely amazing!! ❤️😃 and again you play superbly!! Proof that hard work pays off. I’ve only been playing for a month and I probably shouldn’t have come on here on this particular video because it is for more advanced players but I am always so curious to see where I could possibly be in a year or so because I am dedicated and have always wanted to play the violin. I hope and pray I am able to tackle this in time. ❤️😳

    I really appreciate this video! Ive been watching your channel for a year and a half. I played violin for a year in public school when i was 11, and decided to pick it back up when i was 36. From that point I've been self taught. This channel has made that possible. At the moment I am studying vibrato, third position, and some of the more difficult scales with flats and sharps. It has been challenging to find pieces that fall into the advanced beginner category. I will abolutely get all of tbese pieces! Thank you for taking the time to put up so many helpful videos. I realize it must take a lot of time and thought to do so. You are so genorous! 😊

    This is exactly what I need! I want to learn classical. My violin teacher in the 70’s had me play from the Seitz booklet. I thought it was hard. I love concertos, and want to learn the concertos you have written, as well as the others. I love the piano with violin. I also watch intently your technique while playing. I do want all of the concertos, and your songbook 1. You have made my day, as I have been so bored, and missing playing my violin consistently. I need the structure of your lessons, which I think I have saved on IPhone, and not sure if I have your songbook. Your playing classical is smooth and mellow with sweet tone. I can only wish to play that well. Thank you for this video.

Havent seen a single teacher in person yet because i feel your books and videos bring me very far :D The only thing that i cannot do is vibrato with my ring finger, because of an accident when i was younger so thats too bad.
    But this video came at such a great time! i wanted to start learning more classical music and Concertos. Anyways, thanks you SO much for all your work and always answering questions!

I am also doing your piano book and I'm on the lesson 9 part 1. I don't know if it is a good idea to do both, but I am enjoying both. I think my main goal at this time is to learn music. I am also reading a music theory book and plan on taking a violin making course, which starts next week. Thank you for your courses, which have taught me so much. I love learning, even if I never make it to an advance level.

But I really like the idea of having piano accompanying as a violin too. I'am just a beginner never even handle one before. I love watching you cause you explain things simply, easing to understand and that's a very good thing., i need all the help i can get. Do have a question. when I'am trying to tune the violin the pegs keep moving back losing up the string how do I stop that and also does the hole bow have to filled with rosin?

    • @TheOnlineViolinTutor
      @TheOnlineViolinTutor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the pegs won’t stay in turn after you turn them and push them in a little, then it might be time to upgrade.
      You apply rosin on the whole bow. I have a video on this.

      @isabellaluciacellini 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Seitz concerto, is in suzuki book 4. By that stage, you'd be doing 3rd position (= moving your left hand down the neck of the violin), which makes it a little harder than the first position she talks about here.
      So I'd wait till I was near the end of book 2/starting book 3 with these.

      When the basics are firmly down - which is a MINIMUM of a year. Even if you have the basics sooner than that, it still takes that amount of time for things to become a natural process and time is something you cant buy or accelerate.

    • @TheOnlineViolinTutor
      @TheOnlineViolinTutor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because Im recording professionally to get the best sound from the microphone that you see on my violin, the backing tracks need to be only coming through the headphones because if i let them play out in the room itself, my microphone will not only pick up my violin, but also the backing tracks in the background giving them a 'double' sound which isnt good.

      Not only that, even if you are an intermediate player, going back to these and working on making these sound awesome, is something one should definitely do.
