Wow great tips.❤❤ I've bought a violin, and only in a specific note, I'm hearing a very fast humming but all other adjacent notes are sounding perfect. what could be the cause and how to stop this?
This could be a Wolf tone. Google for it, because there are several options. The easiest option to try first is to use a different brand/type of strings.
I've got many videos on bow technique, so check them out. Also I've got videos on dynamics, amongst which this one: violinlounge.com/how-to-practice-dynamics-in-legato-with-guest-teacher-vivien-hoffman-violin-lounge-tv-351/

I've got a question...From when to when does the violin need to have manteinance? Because for example, my violin hasn't have gotten any maintenance for the last 1 year and a half/2 years, and I'm starting to think that one of the factor that make my sound deteriorate is that..
As an adult, self learning with TH-cam videos and books, I find you tutorials very helpful. I’ve been struggling with tone and realise that my bowing has not been straight, which I’m now working on, and after I wiped the rosin off my strings it did sound better. Something that I do notice is that sometimes I get an airy sort of note either when I do a stop or release. I’m thinking it’s the way I press on the string. Maybe I need to tap a bit harder? Do you know what I mean?
Yes, it's a matter of balancing weight, speed and contact point. Bowing straight will also help. Check out this video as well: violinlounge.com/how-to-stop-surface-noise-on-the-violin-and-create-a-deep-sound-violin-lounge-tv-367/
My tone sounds really quite and mushy when i record, and when i vibrato it sounds scratchy. do you have any tips? i have a solo coming up and i don’t want to sound bad
I am embarking on a lifelong ambition to play my mother’s beautiful violin… The trouble is I’m 60 and my hand is not as flexible as yours appears to be when you are describing the movement of the fingers with the bow… Do you have some exercises I could do with my hand to improve my flexibility and to improve this skill? Thank you very much.🙏🥰
I am wondering why my tone is too whiny and tense, and when playing in higher positions on the A and D string and when playing on high positions on the G string it sounds too scratchy. Where does this come from?
As an amateur violin enthusiast who has practiced without formal violin education, I have concerns about the uniformity of bow movements among orchestra members during performances. Specifically, when observing violinists and cellists, I notice that their bow angles and directions appear consistent. Is this uniformity a result of music education, or do musicians follow the conductor’s instructions during rehearsals? I am capable of playing, but I worry that my bow movements -specifically whether to play by pushing or pulling the bow-might be perceived differently by professionally trained violinists. Is this choice of how to move bow standardized during music education? I asked artificial intelligence about this point, then it replied 'there is no regulation about, and uniformity of bows of orchestra members are conducted by leader during rehearsals'. is AI reply right? *** AI replied also : 'There is no universal rule for violinists regarding bow movements during violin performances. Just like violin masters exhibit different bow techniques, each musician may have their own unique approach. Some violinists maintain a consistent direction when moving the bow (whether pushing or pulling) even when changing strings, while others intentionally change the direction of the bow to achieve specific musical effects. The choice often depends on the individual player’s style, interpretation, and the desired sound.'
There's a difference between orchestral playing and solistic playing. As an orchestral player you need to blend and create one sound with your section and the orchestra. It's team work. Bow direction is chosen by the concert master and the section leaders. I've got a great resource with some rules on bow direction: violinlounge.com/up-bow-or-down-bow-22-violin-bowing-rules-violin-lounge-tv-467/

My tone sounds really quite and mushy when i record, and when i vibrato it sounds scratchy. do you have any tips? i have a solo coming up and i don’t want to sound bad
Maybe try to use a bit more bow weight and speed? Experiment with bow place, speed and pressure.

I am wondering why my tone is too whiny and tense, and when playing in higher positions on the A and D string and when playing on high positions on the G string it sounds too scratchy. Where does this come from?
In higher positions one must adjust the bow placement (closer to the bridge). Also experiment wtih bow speed and pressure.
@@violinlounge So, when trying to play either father or closer to the bridge, how can I do that while trying to keep my bow straight?
