    4K ISO recording is all I want.

      I think a lot of people want that but with limited compatibility on hard drives I’m betting they’ll reserve that for their higher end switchers and people who can afford a hyperdeck for every ISO.

    The main thing I would like to see is 4K program recording, streaming can stay in 1080 for all I care

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree. I don't care to stream in 4K nor will people really be watching on devices where that matters but I like 4K program record. What I like even more though is being able to double up a 4K feed where input 1 is at 100% scale but input 2 could be the same feed at maybe 130% scale so we can fake having two shots, a wide and a medium shot or being able to pan it around within the 1080p framing.

    Internal recording on SSD will be great (a big advantage over using the usb port); an alternative is to integrate the Hyperdeck shuttle in the same housing so there is at least one SD slot and you can do playback of switcher recording as well

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've seen a few 3D printed designs that would allow you to sit the atem and the hyperdeck shuttle together in one unit but I definitely wonder if they'd ever consider internal video playback or recording on the consumer lineup or if they'll keep that for the higher end stuff like the HD8.

    My guess for NAB? Maybe a 4k non-iso Mini Extreme. And maybe a new switcher and/or router that incorporates 2110 since they've decided to go down that path. I'm doubtful that other features like Dante or NDI will ever be incorporated. Personally, I'd like to see an update to the Smartview 4K monitor. I'd like a refresh somewhere in their multiview lineup. They recently released the 80x router, so probably nothing new on that front, unless they find a way to incorporate 2110. I'd expect more additions to their 2110 line up.

    3 versions:
    Atem Mini, Atem mini Pro and Atem Mini Ultra
    Atem Mini Gen 2
    - 4 HDMI Inputs
    - 2 HDMI Outputs, where we can select PGM or Multiview
    - 2 USB-C ports. 1 for webcam and 1 for recording to SSD (webcam output can be customized, what to output on that)
    - lockable USB-C power
    - Power button
    - Web graphics overlay input in order to use external graphics software. Or redesign the whole graphics software where we can update the text on template on go. DaVinci graphics templates can be added.
    - Headphone jack
    - 2 Balanced XLR/Combo for mic/line input, mini XLR maybe as on the Pocket 6K Pro camera
    - Get rid of all volume buttons. Replace it with selectable button for each input and then use a knob to control the volume. Also AFV and ON buttons, which affects the selected input.
    - Macro buttons instead of PiP
    - Separate row for Preview and Program buttons
    - 3 layers of super source
    - ipad compatible software / limited interface of ios for switching
    Atem Mini Pro Gen 2
    - All above
    - 1 UVC Input to connect webcam as input
    - SRT Input/Output with audio (hopefully)
    - 2 or 3 Streaming destinations
    - ISO recording and have a proper Multicam project for DaVinci Resolve.
    - Built-in WiFi
    Atem Mini Ultra (will be bigger in size) Count as 1 box for podcast
    - All above
    - Built-in touchscreen for multiview
    - NDI Input/Output with audio (it might never happen)
    - Preview/Programs buttons can be reassigned for the either HDMI or NDI Input
    - Dante AV support or audio only (it might never happen either)
    - AUX / Built-in Hyperdeck to playback files from SD card
    - Knobs for each audio channel
    ATEM Mini Ultra is something I am looking for, where we can combine RodeCaster with a video switcher. As Rode released the Rode Streamer X, they might add video switcher with several ports in the future product.

    4K iso would be nice! I like the idea of internal recording too. Maybe then a way to offload over the cloud.
    My biggest wishlist was though would be for streaming, to take the deck link and have that be an internal feature for the ISO models. Let each input be seen by a computer as an individual capture source.

  • @computerjantje
    @computerjantje หลายเดือนก่อน

    3 build in playback of pre-recorded videos (intro's) is my choice. Mediaplayer not just being images but being videos would be my biggest wish.
    I first wanted to say: 2 internal recording, but thinking about it practical would make it useless to me. I use the atem extreme mainly for recording (+ sometimes live streaming) live events. I record 6 to 8 camera's all the time while live switching. Then at home do a re-edit taking switching mistakes out. When I have several gigs in a week, I need to empty or change the ssd. Having the ssd inside the device means I would fill-up and then have a problem or have to connect a external ssd anyway. Also the speed with which you could move the stored video recordings would be very important. The current atem possibility to acces the ssd via the atem is way too slow for this. So internal storage would have to be huge, 4 to 6 TB, to be workable and the move files to pc speed has to be a fast over IP. I don't see that coming. With current 2TB SSD drives I use, practically this means I can record 8 camera's for two 1.5 hour gigs max but that is on the edge and to prevnt getting nervious I use one 2TB ssd per typical event. I have to add that I always also record in cameras as a backup in case the atem would fail. It never happened but you know it is better to have fall-back failure prevention always :)

  • @allanclloyds
    @allanclloyds 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I'd like #3, but I suspect what we'll get is a greatly improved media pool with support for stingers. I reckon they'll play to their strengths and add more graphics capabilities, cloud workflows, and tighter integration with Resolve with better project files (e.g. that support super source layouts) rather than launch a different form factor with a touch screen that competes with the Yolobox, unless they're refreshing the Video Assist.
    I think they might update their micro converters to do 25/30 to 50/60p conversion for PC monitors to deal with the SDI to HDMI issue, rather than an HDMI multiview on the SDI model.
    4K streaming is relatively niche, 4K switching would undercut the HD rackmount units, and ISO recording would require some pretty high specs, so I'm less convinced about that. They might fudge it with upscaling on the encoder, without necessarily supporting 4K inputs/outputs, because they'll be refreshing that anyway to support SRT. Internal recording would add too much to the costs for what is their entry level lineup, so I don't think they'll do that either, especially if they take the view that most of their customers will be upgrading and have already invested in drives. Also, outside of a studio setup, having to plug in the ATEM to get access to the recordings is kind of a clunky workflow. An alternative to internal recording might be a line of branded SSDs e.g. like the AngelBird / AtomX stuff.
    What I would really love, and what I think what they'll eventually launch is a no-frills rackmount HD ISO recorder (i.e. a sort of HyperDeck ISO) without playback support, because 8 x HyperDecks is just silly, especially if you don't need the other features of the HyperDeck, and what's the sensible upgrade path when you want to move to their rackmount kit?

    My dream is to have a dedicated bouton to add a marker in live when I do something wrong, invisible to the audiance.
    And when I go home I just check for the marker, correct it and export the new master.
    I cheat with a macro for double fade to black but I need something better.

    • @zephanmoses
      @zephanmoses  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I like that. When I use Riverside they have a nice marker feature for my virtual recordings. The macro makes sense but obviously isn't the ultimate fix. I'm not sure that I have a ton of issues with needing to note when something wrong happens. Usually there's one or two little mishaps we consider acceptable in the live format and for the very rare client that would be super picky about it we'll just go find it and edit it out.
