It had so much potential and was stripped of that all because they couldn't get a toy deal going to merchandize the show. It was quality and didn't deserve to be canned after only one season.
I honestly don’t think Nick would give the show the time of day. They have a ridiculous quota, so if Danny Phantom were to air today it’d have one heck of an uphill battle. Not to mention that action cartoons today don’t really have much presence on TV. Nick and CN are too busy looking for the next big comedy.
Honestly, I would if, and ONLY IF, Butch Hartman gathered all the original writers, directors, etc., and he didn't air it on Nickelodeon. Let him put it on Netflix or TH-cam. It wouldn't have to be another 20 plus episodes, but at least like 10 to 15 so we could see what happens after Phantom Planet. But since the chances of that happening are very slim, I am going to have to agree with you and say: no, they should not reboot Danny Phantom unless specific guidelines are followed.
Alpha Jay That's true, but what if we as a Phandom all pitched in and each gave Butch like 2-5 dollars a month? It would take time I know, but it would be worth the wait to have this show in the proper hands once again.
I would watch a Danny Phantom reboot only if Butch Hartman will let the show become a bit darker. I enjoyed the show, but at the end they pretty much ruined it by trying to make it more of a children show.
TH-cam Watcher yeah its a good idea though I think everyone in the comments comes up with smart ideas the art style for Danny phantom is amazing I'm not sure how it would look in animie because I honestly don't know what animie is is it short fir animation? If it is it makes sense
I'd say if they aren't ever planning on doing anything with the show, give it back to Butch Hartman. I think Danny Phantom would work great on Netflix or Hulu; more freedom to tell more mature stories. It's not out of the realm of plausibility; topics such as divorce and cloning with implied discussion on how human the clones could be considered were present. Oh and the mass planetwide genocide from one of the specials. That was a thing.
Alpha Jay Show Very true, but it can't be anything like what they get from SpongeBob and The Loud House or even The Fairly OddParents alone. Danny Phantom has a cult following, but very little merchandise compared to other Nicktoons, which confuses me because it can be like how Ben 10 is for Cartoon Network in terms of having a superhero show cashcow. As far as I know there's two solo videogames, a bunch of cameos in Nicktoons related games, a few kids meal toys, one or two books, and the Shout Factory DVDs online; if there are more, people are free to correct me. Sure the DVDs would bring in some money, but a very small fraction of what they can make off of the talking block of cheese. They could do with giving the show up, unless they plan on doing something with it like the comic books and TV movie from Invader ZIM.
Its weird to me how much people just praise the HECK outta this show and I think I've watched about 2 or 3 times ever. I might just go back and watch it to see if its as magical.
It's not that it's magicall, it's just well writen, and you are allowed to actually care for the characters. Every character has their reason to exist, and they're not just there to be "that X character" (with very few exceptions). So yeah, it's not perfect, but it's very good.
I'd say the show benefited from when it was airing on TV. Specifically because of the reruns. If you tuned in all the time, then certain aspects that were only gone over in one (early) episode would be emphasized. Then when that aspect came back, the characters acted like it was a big deal. If you watch every episode in order today, it doesn't make as much sense why they're making such a big over over the thing. But if you were watching back then, then you could benefit from the reruns reminding you of those aspects and driving home more importance for them. That's just how I feel, though.
I'm Very Positive about Danny Phantom. Good Episodes, amazing characters and some cool one-liners. Though some Episodes I disliked. Still one of Butch Hartman's successful works behind The Fairly Oddparents
@@reesebynumgames5964 yeah, and the thing is that it’s normal to have bad episodes. A show is supposed to have flaws, cause we are not flawless people. But, that’s what makes each of us special 😁👌❤️Have a nice day! (man that was cheesy!).
Tbh, as much as I would appreciate the idea of a continuation/reboot, Nickelodeon doesn't have a good track record with Action/story focused shows. I'll run through the list: Okay, so MLAATR was technically a comedy in itself, but it had action. Problem is, it got low ratings and got shelved later on. (Even it's last season not being aired til 2009 on Nicktoons Network for the US.) Danny Phantom had decent momentum in Season 1 & most of Season 2, but for whatever reason, something must have changed Nick's minds and the show eventually fell out of the way side. Then you get Avatar The Last Airbender. Admittingly, one of the more successful ones luckily, but even I recall there was some weird things going on with the last few episodes. (Well at least airing wise.) El Tigre eventually was moved to Nicktoons with 26 episodes I believe and they had to end it with only so few episodes. Now, we move into Legend of Korra and TMNT 2012. Legend of Korra did not fair too well with Nickelodeon. As much as I love that show personally, the ratings and air times after Book 1 were pretty terrible. It didn't help that LOK was already a mixed show for many. (I fall into the camp of loving it but I can't deny this.) Eventually being moved online for it's last season. Lastly we have TMNT 2012. The most successful one of the bunch. It's a very comedic show but it has story elements from what I know. It lasted pretty long. Going through all those, this is where I become skeptical. Now this is just a hunch, (don't take my word on it.) but I don't think Nickelodeon is interesting in telling enriching stories or having relatable characters. Now that's not per say a bad thing. Lots of shows don't. But here's the thing. If we want Nickelodeon to bring it back, there has to be a strong demand for it. Which there is. But, will it be what we necessarily want? Are we potentially overlooking many other factors that come into play? I admittingly did think it was a cool idea to bring it back when Butch was working at Nick but there's a problem now. There's no Butch Hartman. And thus, probably not a lot of the original staff. How can we trust such an idea if none of the original crew is working on it? Not saying it has to have the original team behind it, but I think as the PPG reboot showed us, sometimes it isn't all cracked up to be. Would I want it? Yeah, of course I would love a continuation of the show. But I can't be so trustworthy without at least, some of Butch's ideas. People could say whatever of the man, but he knows what he's doing.
I would love to see a reboot of Danny Phantom in a similar vine-like Spectacular Spiderman or Batman Animated Series. The concept of Danny Phantom has some interesting ideas that can explore in-depth.
I adore Danny Phantom and I agree with many of its other fans that the ending felt rushed and incomplete. I'd like a continuation, personally, especially after seeing Butch's videos of DP 10 years later. As for trusting Nick with a DP continuation/reboot... I'd personally like them to keep their hands off of it. ESPECIALLY with how many poor reboots/continuations we're getting today, though they're mostly on Cartoon Network (CN, you're breaking my heart, especially after what you did to my beloved Teen Titans...) I kind of just want Netflix to glance in Butch's direction and go "Hmm... I wonder..."
It's a nice thought, but Danny Phantom's IP belong's to Nickelodeon and Viacom and Butch Hartman has departed from Nickelodeon. I won't say a continuation or reboot is impossible, after all Hey Arnold managed it after all this time, but it certainly doesn't seem viable at the moment as Hartman does not have the licensing rights to sell his show to other networks.
I do remember DP being on Netflix FOREVER ago; I think I recall seeing it in the kid's section. Not sure why they took it off exactly (or my memory is just wonky, which wouldn't surprise me). It could have been a licensing thing or Netflix wanted to make room for other shows or something... Well, eh, there's always Hulu. That and Butch has mentioned wanting to get back the rights... Who really knows? I'd be ECSTATIC to see DP again, reboot/continuation/whatever, really just because I'm curious as to what more could be done with it--story-wise, worldbuilding-wise, character-wise, animation-wise... But, for now, I'm honestly just glad that it's at least still being mentioned. It could have easily died out like so many other good cartoons... *sheds a tear for the poor Sym-Bionic Titan fans*
I've given Sym-Bionic Titan a try and... I have mixed feelings about the show. It's a gorgeous show first of all. Genndy Tartakovsky's best skills are his animation, graphic art style and visual design (i.e. character design and backgrounds, etc.), and the way he blocks action sequences on screen. The visual aspect of anything he works on is a delight to watch and Sym-Bionic Titan is no exception. However, I thought the story and characters left a little bit to be desired. I think story and character development aren't exactly Tartakovsky's strong suit which is why I think his work stands out more in shows like Samurai Jack or Dexter's Lab where the action/comedy are main focus and the characters are more vehicles to carry the story or gags he wants to present. Sym-Bionic Titan went for deeper writing and greater mythological world building and while I don't think it failed, I didn't exactly think it hit the mark in terms of its story or characters either. What really killed the show for me is that it failed to make the monarchy likable outside of Princess Ilana. The first half of the show was serviceable for me in terms of its plot, if a little bare bones in terms of its structure. But after the two flashback episodes revolving around Lance at the academy and Lance as a royal guard I found the show just left a sour taste in my mouth. I honestly don't sympathize with the King at all and that's clearly not the show's intention. He throws Lance into some academy after his father died, places all the blame on him after three students humiliate and attempt to MURDER him, and then throws him in prison on heresay despite the fact Lance has evidence of a real invasion. The basic outline of the plot tells me that I should care about Gallaluna and it's aristocracy and want to see it rise to its former glory, but the show's writing and subtext paint the King and the members of the upper class as just scummy people and I didn't feel any empathy for Gallaluna when the capital city burns to the ground in that invasion flashback. Frankly, I think the whole show suffers from similar issues like this and I think if the show hadn't been canceled prematurely it might not be remembered as fondly. Also, Danny Phantom's removal from Netflix isn't all that surprising as a lot shows are jumping ship from Netflix as their contracts with that service expire as networks are moving towards creating exclusive distribution rights with certain streaming services like Hulu or Amazon, or just simply creating their own streaming services as with Disney. Danny Phantom's contract probably expired and Viacom is choosing to stream their IP through a different provider as they see Netflix as a source of competition now that it's creating its own original content.
Oh goodness, honestly I can't remember much of Sym-Bionic Titan, I just remember watching is as a kid and it scaring the bejesus out of me with some of its episodes (one in particular about a ghost girl in a barn or something?) I can also remember one of the last episodes where the robot character (Octus?) is looking out over a city, as well as a few of the action scenes... But, yeah, what I was mainly trying to get at is that Sym-Bionic Titan has fans, and that they're probably saddened by the fact that it may never see the light of day again, unlike DP, which at least gets a word here or there. I didn't know about the shows-jumping-ship from Netflix thing or how that all worked. That's interesting. I DID hear about Disney wanting to make their own streaming service, though, which, yeah... given that it seems like they're trying to get their hands on everything these days, I'm not surprised...
I believe Butch has said he would like to do something with Danny Phantom (if I recall correctly, he would like to continue it), but Nick holds the rights to the show. At least, in some of his recent videos, he has asked the fans if we would like for him to get the rights back for it
I think the only way a reboot for this would work is if it was put online. If Nick gave the show back to Butch and he got to work on it directly. On his TH-cam channel people love his redraws of the characters and love his ideas of redoing the show. He has talked about if he had the rights back and what he would do with them and has an overwhelmingly positive feedback from the fans.
If Danny Phantom were to get a reboot, and I believe there are some why it should have a reboot, is that all the Teen characters of Danny Phantom should all have a diversity of realistically distinct and relatable mindsets instead of having just two same old jock Bully and Sarcastic teen mindsets like they were the thing back in the 80’s and 2000’s as a whole when not all high school life story antagonists are all just jocks and not all high school teen protagonists are sarcastic stereotypes as I thought they’d be when I watched DP series finale special episode/TV Movie: Phantom Planet two months after I graduated middle school, and when I went to high school on my first day there, a month after Danny Phantom’s series finale and three months after I graduated middle school, I learned in a confused way after many of my high school classmates having many realistically different personalities that were likable, friendly and not so bad that I realized after I watched the whole series of Danny Phantom and graduating middle school at the time that... not all sporty jocks were stereotypically mean when I was a water boy in my freshman year in high school, not all young lovers in high school have that stereotypically will they won’t they type of mindset. Okay point is: I realized that Danny Fenton, Sam Manson, Valerie Grey, Ember McClain, and sometimes even Star and Paulina all shared the same sarcastic teen mindset too much, and yet the only teen character that did not share this overly stereotypical and one dimensionally dated mindset is Jazz Fenton who had like the most realistically believable and diversely relatable personality that’s being: Kind, Caring, Mature, Smart, voice of reason, and no nonsensical for any person of any gender and sexual identity to relate to. Like what if Danny Fenton/phantom were rebooted to have that Josh Keaton’s Peter Parker/Spectacular Spidey personality, what if Sam Manson were rebooted to have that Marceline the Vampire Queen like personality and wore some Marcy inspired clothing and hairstyle like the diverse clothes and hairstyles Marceline wore throughout The Whole saga of adventure time, what if Tucker Foley were rebooted to have that Miles Morales personality or that smartphone hacker-vigilante personality like... Marcus Holloway from Watchdogs 2, and what if Dash and Kwan were rebooted to have this... LGBT complex relationship but were bi enough to also still be into the ladies at the same time since there are some all ages shows and movies I know these days that have those LGBT fan services inspire LGBT fan art in this day and age, and what if Danny’s parents... I honestly don’t know how I’d want Maddie and Jack’s personalities to be rebooted but I would still love a reboot where Danny and his two friends got to have much better personalities and this decade’s defining evolution of clothing that would better define who Danny, Sam, and Tucker should be these days and throw away old sarcastic teen mindset that’s already become cliche, stereotypical, and dated in 80’s and 2000’s high school life and teen adventure stories that aren’t like the high school life and teen adventure stories that we have today.
Cool that you mentioned that I’m actually coming up with a reboot idea similar to what you said but with that I’m trying to maybe pitch it to Nickelodeon one day but I’m only experimenting with that those ideas right now.
@@CharlieMonkeh I was mostly ranting in that lengthy comment, and I have a habit of making lengthy comments and replies for when I try to make a deep point but I never find the right way to finish that sentence. Also it was just a wishful thinking idea. I honestly don’t know if the reboot idea I shared in this lengthy comment of mine would be any better than what any longtime Danny Phantom fan would love for this wishful comeback of Danny Phantom to be. I mean there times back in early 2014 when I bought a Complete Series DVD set of Danny Phantom from Walmart, and the moment I got to rewatch my favorite 2000’s Superhero NickToon series that I had come to realize that Danny’s human teen personality as Danny Fenton is not as kind and likable as I thought his human half’s personality was, I like his Ghost Half’s personality and appearance, but his human half’s personality was just... Too. Damn. Grumpy. And his teen angst was just so overly stereotyped that Danny’s Human half personality has not aged well... at least that’s what I think, he has a kind, mature, and no nonsense sister who loves and cares for her brother deeply like a mother figure, even though Danny kept socially distancing himself from his parents and sister but in a mental unhealthy way and it’s not the necessary kind where we all have to be six feet apart from our population’s personal spaces since we’re all still trapped in the COVID pandemic as of this reply: 11-30-2020, and if there’s anything in a Danny Phantom reboot that I wish would happen: it’s that I was Danny would be more nicer and more caring towards his parents and sister instead of angrily getting away from them like an Ass Grump, like maybe a wishful reboot version Danny Fenton the human half of his human-ghost hybrid identity should have a more likable and caring personality that’s more like The Spectacular Spidey/Peter Parker from the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon series of the late 2000’s, are like Teen Steven from Steven Universe the movie and Steven Universe Future, or Finn Mertens/Finn the Human from Adventure Time, or... sigh... I don’t know if, I simply just wish that Danny had a much better and less grumpy personality that doesn’t indirectly make Danny look like he’s a bigger asshat in his old 2000’s show these days than Lars Barriga was in the original Steven Universe series before he became a mature and confident pink zombie in the final season of that 2010’s show, as he still is in both the movie and in the show’s sequel series.
@@CharlieMonkeh I apologize for that, and it’s like I said at the beginning of my sentence, I have a habit of making lengthy comments and replies. But I’m glad that we can agree on something here.
Are you frickin' kiddin' me?!? Butch Hartman only had direct control over the content of the episodes & thus the reason(s) we love the show for 6 episodes. The pilot episode was written, story boarded & directed by Butch Hartman. The best episodes & seasons for the most part were written, storyboarded & directed by others. *#SteveMarmel* Every episode Butch Hartman had a direct hand in creating / top billing for was a flop. They decreased the value of the season they were in & the show. I don't trust Butch Hartman with a reboot or continuation of Danny Phantom, especially after viewing his idea videos.
I remember being a huge fan of Danny Phantom when I was younger... I always wanted to be like Danny. Heck I even played the DS game ( something about a jungle ghost or something ). Yeah I loved that show...
I looked it up and it's called "Urban Jungle". I remember really liking that game ( I played through it 2-3 times can't remember ). But looking back the music was really great even today :) Yes please do~
Beware the Batman needs a continuation or conclusion. The series was prematurely shut down by Cartoon Network unfairly and people were getting into it when CN was deliberately getting it harder to view the show. Same with Disney's treatment of the book series Abadazad.
Would I reboot Danny Phantom? HELL YEAH. The show was decissively good (to the point of being one of my favourites ever) but NOT perfect. With a reboot starting the story from the beginning they coul retell the story in a way to fix plotholes and errors, while adding more to the story AND they would already have the complete story so they could start adding foreshadowing, delete the "filler" episodes an give more depth to the characters, making the story stronger over all. I don't want a continuation, the ending of te first was really conclusive. But starting from the beggining could even FIX that ending, making it more epic, and giving it more time so it's not rushed. I don't know, that's my opinion.
If Nickelodeon / Billionfold Inc. Or another studio reboots Danny Phantom (which I hope they do & *not* just a continuation) there are a few people they'd need to bring back: *Steve Marmel* Guy Moon, as a composer / music & sound effects guy *Marty Isenberg* *Ray Angrum* Fred Reyes Wincat Alcala Sib Ventress Julie Hashiguchi Ben Balistreri Robb Pratt Shaunt Nigoghossian James Yang Sam Bullock Amy Keating Rogers Plus the Cast: David Kaufman Gray DeLisle Rickey D'Shon Collins Colleen O'Shaughnessey Rob Paulson Kath Soucie Martin Mull William Baldwin Will Arnet Marie Canals-Barrera S. Scott Bullock David Carradine Brian Cox Michael Dorn Peri Gilpin Peter MacNicol Matthew St. Patric Ron Perlman Chynna Phillips Eric Roberts *Tara Strong* Cree Summer James Arnold Taylor & Jim Ward You may have noticed a missing name: Butch Hartman AKA Elmer Earl "Butch" Hartman. That was intentional. He's not necessary for a reboot.
Oh, to watch videos prior to Hartman's falling out. Srsly tho, I do think DP has a lot of potential with a reboot; there were a lot of questions that never got answered, backstories that never got revealed, lots of areas that would benefit from some sort of revision/different perspective, limitless potential on new and old characters alike, the list goes on. If it were to be aired on Netflix, DP could even step into the "Darker Zone" like they did with Hey Arnold or Ducktales, allowing itself to take on the form that I believe Stephen Silver (the person the credits should actually go to) pitched for S3 (might've been someone else, probably was.) The only thing I would seriously recommend is that if there WERE to be a reboot, keep Butch FAAAAAAAR away from it as humanly possible. For Insurance.
I would not reboot it on Nick; Netflix or TH-cam maybe, but NOT Nick. ---------- I also kind of want a reboot that's more.... realistic. Like...darker. Something that explores a more real side of Danny's (and everyone else's) character and experiences. I think that that would be interesting to see and enjoyable.
No. I wouldn't reboot Danny Phantom either. Mainly for the same reason as Jay I don't want Nick or Hartman trying to redo anything with the series. I am currently watching the series for my first time. I watched it on Nickelodeon back when it aired but I was 6 or 7 so I don't really remember much. But from the first episode I have re-watched so far it was pretty good. Not my favorite but better then some. But I feel like series like El Tigre, and even more recently Harvey Beaks deserve a continuation not a reboot.
I agree with you. It would be too difficult to reboot because Butch would need to buys the rights to the show back from Nick. Also, the original writers would be needed (aka Steve Marmel). In summary, Danny Phantom should not be rebooted. However, I would like to see Butch, along with the help of Steve's creative writing skills, release a comic version of the original show (with permission, may not be possible, could benefit Nick) then continue it on through Danny's college years. That would be dope!
Yes more Danny Phantom Update- just watched the video and yeah I wouldn’t trust Nick and at times Butch but I think if it were to get a reboot or continuation I would say do a TV movie on Nick or if Butch was really content on making the show again but they didn’t want to work with Nickelodeon try to get the rights back and maybe put it on another network I think the best possibly would be Netflix as right now (at least in my opinion) they are doing the best animation wises (with Disney being a close second) and I feel like the team would have more freedom on Netflix even if it’s an unlikely thing to happen
No. Let it Rest In Peace. I know it had a rushed ending, I loved the show as a kid, but I’d rather remember it as it was, then have even a tiny chance that a lesser version be made public in the minds of children. Granted, I probably only have such a strong opinion of that, because of what happened to the reboot of my other favorite show of around that time, Teen Titans. I don’t hate TTG, but sometimes it does make me sad that when kids think of the teen titans, they think of the TTG versions of the characters, and not the ones I loved as kid. I realize that is a stupid, emotion based reason, but it is what is, and I couldn’t stand that happening to the other show I loved from around that time. Good video, Jay. And thanks for keeping it kind of short, because it could have been really easy to fall into deceiving all the speculation and the problems with the ending that make people want it rebooted, but you kept it pretty to the point, which was nice. Keep it up.
I have two responses for yes and no, and ultimately Im gonna go with no. Id say yes it should or can be rebooted because Danny Phantom was based on two long lasting properties that are still relevant to pop culture and nerd media: Spider-Man and Ghostbusters. Danny Phantom at its core has the spirit of these two that made it a success. The relatable young and flawed superhero that people of all ages can relate to and the comedy and wit of funny people reacting to the supernatural that makes for great story telling. It can work if the same spirit can be captured. It was a show that had a variety of every genre. But ultimately no because of the fact that, while it can be applied to any time, it is a show made in a period of television and animation media where Nickeloden really valued animation. Nick and CN and Disney are banking on Nostalgia with their various properties of the past getting reboots that switch up on the genres or story telling styles than that of their original series. TTGO is a comedy, DuckTales has an ongoing story, and as far as I know PPF has no serious or edgy tone to it. Granted DuckTales is a fantastic reboot, but thats because it adds to the formula than take away. Danny Phantom had it all, to some stories being meaningful even as a teen and adult than when I was a kid. But no, I don't trust Nick or maybe even Butch to do it right and make it evolve as it should. Also my ex loves it and I rather it not come back for her sake xD
i would reboot it but only if butch is doing it and has no restraints on creative freedom along with the drive to either continue or complete teboot, eiher are good options as long as there quality
I would not reboot it more extend it. So rather them pick up where it left off Danny is an adult His mom and dad are working with Tucker to make gear for hunting ghosts while Danny has a kid that he is teaching to use ghost powers but is also the head of effectively a solder group of ghost hunters. we get a few episodes saying what happened to get to that point but here is where I would change it a bit more. The ghost hunters are some times ghosts to but unlike the hunter humans rather then the gear they use ghost powers. And the box ghost has became a friend to Danny's kid and while he is still a little like his old self Danny's kid has showed he loves playing with box forts and stuff so the box ghost joined him and he is effectively the bag of holding for Danny's kid where any and all gadgets they would need is in his boxes. But some times they can be misplaced or he finds the wrong item. "But Rob who is the mom?" That will be up to Heartman. If I had to pick one I would say if we are going for the ovious it would be Sam. But I myself would rather it be a new ghost. Maybe at first as well we do not know she is she is just some random lady till she has to throw out the human look and fight. "But how would him and a ghost make a child?" How does a hero have thunder pits? How does a dog talk? Why does a cat know kung-fu? Best answer is don't think about it. Logical answer would be we never saw anyone die and turn into a ghost. The ghosts might just be another race and because Danny is half ghost he could have kids with any ghost or human.
Your absolutely right as of right now we don't have anyone we could trust with Danny Phantom I actually did a post on Tumblr about this a few years ago where we just can't trust either of them and it got a lot of reblogs within the fandom then it came back with the release of the adult character designs. All in all you are absolutely correct and a lot of people agree ♡♡♡ though we may want more it's not the best time to get it
I honestly believe you're better off leaving good enough alone. Danny phantom was a great show but it had a good run and ended on a great note. I think It should just stay in the psst and remain as what it was.
Honestly, I still want a reboot, but I have to painfully agree with you that I just wouldn't trust Nick with the show unless Butch and a few of the original writers came back. I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but Nick is kind of a laughingstock with their mostly comedic style nowadays... I wouldn't trust them with what's supposed to be a mostly serious story-based animation.
*_YES, DEW IT! DEW IT NOW!_* As long as they don't turn it into this childish BS. I want the same writers and a worthy continuation to the original. I'm still waiting, it will happen, someday, hopefully.
Honestly, I think just letting the fans keep the show alive is enough. Now that I've seen "Hey Arnold" and "Invader ZIM" get some sort of new content in the form of movies, I am pretty confident that the same could be done for "DP". What would it be like? Who knows? But in the meantime, fans are creating their own stories and art to keep the show's memory alive and fresh.
I love this series , but I wouldn't bring it back unless they did it as specials or something where Butch can have maybe the old team he had working on it come together but not have to dedicate their lives back to if they've moved on to other things. And unless the show somehow meets Nick's weird however they see ratings standard it would get shipped to Nicktoons network deathrow.
There are different ways people have continued this series and most of them are good enough for a continuation of Danny Phantom, whether Butch Hartman's The College Years, his spin-off with Valerie, or other people's ideas like "Danny & Sam", "Sam Manson: Monster Hunter", "The Three Halfas" and the one where Danny and Sam are married and have two kids named DJ and Lilith, a continuation created by a fan where another fan got permission to use their idea to create his own story. These different ideas are why I'm all for a continuation for Danny Phantom.
From what you're saying, it seems more like rebooting the show right now wouldn't be a good idea, but what about in the future? Maybe in 5-10 years things could change, and either Butch or Nick could give a reboot or continuation the time and respect it deserves.
I completely agree with you with Hartman gone, the current state of Nick and it's past treatment of other action shows (The Legend of Korra) I don't wanna see a rebooted Danny Phantom. But, I am not big into reboots anyway.
I have always been fascinated with the idea of Anime adaptations. Western animated series that apparently hit it off big in Japan to the point where they try their hand at bringing writing it in more of their culture. The only western animated series i heard of that had an anime adaptation was PowerPuff Girls, with PowerPuff Girls Z. Apparently Craig McCraken (forgive me if i mispelled his name) and Lauren Faust were asked by a japanese animator who was a big fan if he could make an anime adaptation for japanese audiences. Craig was very flattered and agreed to it even offering some ideas. At least thats what i found in my research. In my opinion PowerPuff Girls Z wasnt too bad. It was sort of meh. But it brought a whole new perspective to the PowerPuff Girls Universe. Especially in regards to some of the villains. Particularly the RowdyRuff Boys who were hinted to originally become antiheros in an unfortunately cancelled 3rd season. And the emphasis on why they couldn't be shipped with the girls like the original series tried to explain to no success. As unlike in the original series, its shown and confirmed that the RRBs were Genetic Twins of the PPGs though younger due to them being clones. Similar to Danielle Phantom in Danny Phantom. What does this have to do with Danny Phantom? I feel shows like Danny Phantom, Code Lyoko, Miraculous Ladybug, and Winx Club should get an anime adaptation to bring a fresh perspective that wasn't able to shine through due to circumstances and limitations with airing them on western shores. In Danny Phantom ghosts couldn't be dead people only because nickelodeon thought it was too dark. Thus Butch Hartman had to make them other dimensional beings that could easily be identified as ghosts. Winx Club has been fudged royally with its continuity because of Nickelodeon's Meddling with seasons 4-6 to the point that the creator doesnt even know how to salvage it. Spoiler alert aparently the Trix aren't actually sisters and actually have destroyed homeworlds in season 8. Miraculous Ladybug was originally going to be a japanese anime produced by Toei as evidenced by their fascinating proof of concept music video, Up Ladybug. Not saying the show is bad as they even elude to a possible spinoff toei could bring to life (and hopefully crossover with Precure) And with Code Lyoko there arent as many glaring problems aside from the entirety of Code Lyoko: Evolution. Ultimately i would try to find a japanese studio to try to help breath new life into Danny Phantom maybe give the ghosts fascinating backstories and even traumas like with Ember McLain whos song Remember was confirmed to be a suicide note for the dead people concept that Butch Hartman had to change. Maybe make her realize that people did care about her but because her heart was broken she couldnt see that and ultimately hurting the ones who were trying to help her or the ones who needed her the most. Like a little brother figure who was caught in the middle of an abusive family and looked up to Ember for support and safety. Dude the way they could handle how life is important and shouldn't be taken for granted could be inspiring to anyone going through depression. I can also imagine the soundtrack and Ember regretting her choice and trying desperately to help her Number one fan only for her to realize no one but Danny can percieve her? Tragic Villains are best villains if done right
Sometimes it’s good to take that risk. Obviously, you shouldn’t always reboot something just to give the fans everything they want, but for a show that had more potential before it ended early, it could be a smart move to try and go for a reboot. That being said, I wouldn’t trust it in the hands of Nickelodeon, no, but I certainly wish there was a way to reboot such a good story-driven show. If there was a way to do it and keep the original charm of Danny Phantom, I totally would.
I can see it now it's a years into the future and he has settled down. He wants to have children, but like Spiderman his swimmers got irradiated. Now he has to come to terms that he can never have children. When all hope seems lost he hatches a plan. Because his swimmers are all dead he goes ghost so his swimmers go ghost as well. So now he has to bring up the fact that his significant other has to go through the ghosting process as well so they can have children. Most episodes deal with significant other learning how to ghost then dealing with ghost baby. (can use ghost powers without haveing to go ghost) then so on and so forth.
This is something I have been questioning myself for the last few years, with Butch leaving Nick, I had a strong feeling that the show wouldn't see a reboot unless Nick handed Butch the rights or something so my answer more of landed on no, I don't want to see it happen but before he left, I was very back & forth on the whole thing. After sampling Butch's latest work, I rather not see more Danny Phantom because that show was so good at keeping a balance with the humor & such & I love how story driven it was, I was afraid that some of that would be lost, that the drama in the show wouldn't be there either. I was afraid that if it was a big enough hit, Nick would try milking it for all they could like with FOP. I had a lot of fears but then I remembered how much I wanted to see this show get a fourth season & that in 2008, I sent probably two or three emails to Nick, begging the show be brought back. I would of done it sooner but I didn't understand how emailing worked.... yeah, I know, I'm slow. I had the same flip phone for eight years, I don't adapt well to technology. I would of sold my soul to the Devil for a fourth season of Danny Phantom 10, 11 years ago, hell, I would of probably done it 5 or 6 years ago which is part of what had me conflicted. The kicker was the 10 years later video, that really made me want more, I remember the day it dropped on TH-cam & I cried when watching it. I was sitting on the floor in a bathroom in a hotel in San Diego in the summer, the smell was bad & might of contributed to my tears but it was mostly for seeing the characters I love aged up. I never fully fell out of my Danny Phantom obsession, I had been a phan ever since I was 12 1/2, I was use to the main characters being just a little older than me & around my age since the show was still running when I turned 14. They were back up to my age again & I felt as if things were right, it's like they grew up along with me & given I kept this show in my heart the entire time, seeing that video was so meaningful, too bad I was on a bathroom floor when it dropped but it was an inconvenient time. It relit that spark of hope I had for this series getting another season & I was on the yes train for a bit. I must agree with this conclusion, I love Danny Phantom but as it stands, I don't want a reboot or continuation because I don't want to see something that's so important to me get ruined. Please don't say season 3 already did that, for me that season has some redeeming factors so I don't place it as low as other phans do. If Butch is working on something new that's similar to Danny Phantom, I'll take it, especially if he can recreate some of that magic that made that series as amazing as it is.
I would set up a dedicated time slot block, most likely on Friday or Saturday, and run some of the older shows in syndication. After a series is done, switch it with another and bring it back later on. Sort of like if you combined Boomerang with Cartoon Cartoon Fridays. I know it may not make as much money as new shows, but it may bring in new fans considering older fans will probably want to share the shows they love with their kids. Even if they don't have kids, it could still work. My gf and I are big fans of animation, so we'd probably have a blast rewatching shows we grew up with. I'd imagine plenty of people from our generation would agree.
I probably wouldn’t reboot it because a lot of shows that are brought back can’t live up to the original, and for some reason I cant see nick giving Danny phantom the proper reboot. I would first rerun the original episode like you said alpha with better animation to introduce the new audiences to the show. If there is a demand for the show then I would hire some quality writers and some of the original writers to help out with the show and Butch Hartman would have creator input.
If I ever where to do a reboot I make it have an original feel to it! I know how Butch Hartman shows work! I plan on working for ick someday and if they don't reboot it by then, then i will try! I feel like nick would want a diffrenet art style, hate to say it. But as long as it be from someone that can be trusted, right?
Hartman got way ahead of himself in Season 2, doing THREE movies - and I don't think Nick thought it was a sustainable model. I'm betting he was told he was already on thin ice when Season 3 began, and that's why the whole thing was so rushed, what with the first episode to premiere (Urban Jungle) being the fifth or sixth episode chronologically, confusing the hell out of dedicated watchers who had no idea who Frostbite was. We only got to see Dani once more.
Phantom Planet was the worst thing that came from Danny Phantim. It should have never existed. I don't think it needs a reboot because of it. Why completely change something that works. If it the show should air again, I don't want it in Nikelodeon's hands. I HATE the flash animation from the recent Fairly Odd Parents episodes. The animation alone would ruin for a action tv show. The crossover comerical animation was really bad too. The puns were just as bad. I could go on how bad the commerical was. I have watched some of the superhero shows from Nickelodeon. They are badly written. They should give it to Netflex or Hulu. I will just be fine with 10 episode a season. I think they would stay close to the source material as possible.
Ok so one of your points is how bad Phantom Planet was and I agree but that in itself wouldn't be a reason for why they *should* reboot it; to fix that? Obviously that's only in the case it's the start from the beginning kind of reboot.
Reboot Danny Phantom? Not right now. As much as it pains me to say it, the current media is over-saturated with super heroes and you're right in the fact that I don't trust people to actually write it well. Give it a decade, maybe a decade and a half, and then bring it in as a new cartoon or a live-action movie? It could definitely work.
I'm confused. Is this about you rebooting if you were in the position to do so? The chance Danny Phantom will back is almost zero at this point, but why does noone bring up the idea to make a "fan reboot"? There's enough interest in it, and I'm sure there's people in the fandom that have good drawing skills, can think of original, creative stories that still feel like it's written by the original writers. Also it's not against Nick's rights if we don't make money on it. :)
I have seen it around social media platforms, and I think auditions for script writing and voice acting are still open? So if you wanna get involved you probably still could
I'd like a season 4. With season 1-2 staff. If that does well, Nick may order more. If butch ever gets the rights back, Netflix would hop on that shit in a minute.
As long as Nick is involved, I'd have to say no unfortunately because I can tell Butch would take the serialized aspects of the show and run with that in this day of binge watching and Nick would try their hardest to restrict him. If he somehow gets the rights back, then fuck yea I'd reboot it because now you Butch Hartman, one of the most iconic cartoonist of all time, working with just his vision on a show that he's gone on record saying was his favorite. Now that'd be a show I think everyone can agree would be amazing. The thought of it happening makes me geek out but unless there are some contract fuckery that Hartman pulls it ain't happening. Unfortunately.
butch hartman has tried to buy back the rights to danny phantom many times but they won't sell it back to him, that new show butch was working on ended up being shelved
i agree with u here in that I don't trust butch or Nickelodeon with the danny phantom property. I would say send it to Netflix but a lot of their animated shows are bad
TwT want so bad for butch to get Danny phantom back. (He said in one of his TH-cam videos that he sold it to nick and that if he were to get it back then he would have no issue bringing it back.)
I really kinda hated that Hey Arnold. It lacked the deepness that the original had. Also the parent were so weird at the end that poeple thought they were ghost or something.
The cancelation of Synbiotic Titan was a crime. Honestly it deserves a reboot with the original creator on helm more than any other show
100%! The show (Symbionic Titan) must go on!
Patrick Kenneally It’s unfortunate.
Unless it’s like the samurai jack continuation, no
For the reasons on why Danny Phantom was cancelled I would watch Kuro the Artist’s video on it, he goes pretty in depth for why.
BeanBag343 He’d also have to buy the rights back.
Alpha Jay That's true, but what if we as a Phandom all pitched in and each gave Butch like 2-5 dollars a month? It would take time I know, but it would be worth the wait to have this show in the proper hands once again.
BeanBag343 it would prove interesting to see how the Reboot turns out for Nickalodien in the future
BeanBag343 you seem to be assuming that "Butch" Hartman's hands are the "proper" hands to handle a reboot or continuation of the Danny Phantom show.
I would watch a Danny Phantom reboot only if Butch Hartman will let the show become a bit darker. I enjoyed the show, but at the end they pretty much ruined it by trying to make it more of a children show.
Up Next - T.U.F.F. Puppy [97]
Would you reboot/continue Danny Phantom?
I would maybe continue DP, especially with such a shitty series finale. But definitely not reboot it. The show doesn't need a reboot at all.
Alpha Jay Show Maybe not with a full new series, but maybe a TV movie could also work.
He is going on a Butch Hartman streak. Soon Butch will join him on a review I get.
Buff Buffy
Steeling Ship Thursday ✅
What about a Danny Phantom 10 years later. I wanna see the badass character designs Butch made for that scenario.
WeegeeSlayer Maybe a one-off but with Nick currently? I don’t trust that they’d do it in the way Butch would see it.
Go check out "5 Years Later" by Kuro The Artist. He was actually hired by Butch to be a character designer because of his work.
I'd say for an 8 part mini season or something
With Danny Phantom reboot I can imagine it getting a anime style like last air bender.
Evilworld Danny Phantom Anime? I’d be interested
Evilworld now tbats a good idea an Anime? yeah :)
TH-cam Watcher yeah its a good idea though I think everyone in the comments comes up with smart ideas the art style for Danny phantom is amazing I'm not sure how it would look in animie because I honestly don't know what animie is is it short fir animation? If it is it makes sense
TH-cam Watcher I think it is short for animation
Anime Phantom lol
Two videos in a row about Danny Phantom.
Thank you Panda Man
No prob!
As long as it's not like the Ben 10 reboot.
geardog24 yeah the Ben 10 reboot is ok but I think what that reboot needs is something more original like the first Ben 10 series
ShadOW THE hEDGEhog Chick Yeah but the thing is, they still get money from anything DP under Nick.
Lets Talk Cartoons I’d recommend.
I'd support a reboot 110%
This series has got too much attention to pass by anyone's eyes, which, apparently, Nick doesnt have any
If Steve Marmel and Sib Ventress aren't involved, no.
Who's the latter?
I want the reboot to have a Chris Claremont/Brian Michael Bendis take on this show and don't want Hartman to be heavily involved in it.
I would love to see a reboot of Danny Phantom in a similar vine-like Spectacular Spiderman or Batman Animated Series. The concept of Danny Phantom has some interesting ideas that can explore in-depth.
Bruce Banana really 😃😃😃😃 I would love that and make mr lancer less antagonistic
How bout both
Wait... rebooting the looney tunes show? That would mean rebooting... a reboot. 🤔
Paypuh Wii-G Rebootception
Why not? MY LITTLE PONY did it so why not?
I adore Danny Phantom and I agree with many of its other fans that the ending felt rushed and incomplete. I'd like a continuation, personally, especially after seeing Butch's videos of DP 10 years later. As for trusting Nick with a DP continuation/reboot... I'd personally like them to keep their hands off of it. ESPECIALLY with how many poor reboots/continuations we're getting today, though they're mostly on Cartoon Network (CN, you're breaking my heart, especially after what you did to my beloved Teen Titans...)
I kind of just want Netflix to glance in Butch's direction and go "Hmm... I wonder..."
Heraldic Beast Netflix seems to be the popular option.
At least, in some of his recent videos, he has asked the fans if we would like for him to get the rights back for it
Yeah, the DP fanbase is still active.
@@HuskyLemur I just wanna say I would like to see that but that is a big reply you got there.
@@CharlieMonkeh I apologize for that, and it’s like I said at the beginning of my sentence, I have a habit of making lengthy comments and replies. But I’m glad that we can agree on something here.
@@HuskyLemur yeah and personally as much I want a season 4 continuation I feel like there should be more improvement to mythology.
Before I watch the video I would only say yes *IF* it's like the Samurai Jack continuation with a satisfying ending tbh
Unless Butch Hartman is involved, do not even think about doing it.
J Turner Lol
Alpha Jay Show I'm saying as a fan and as a friend.
Butch Hartman was one of the reasons the 3rd season declined. Steve Marmel was the real mastermind. Bring him back and keep Butch away.
*#SteveMarmel*
Every episode Butch Hartman had a direct hand in creating / top billing for was a flop.
Yaoilover Studio Never heard of that game. Gotta check it out sometime.
I looked it up and it's called "Urban Jungle".
I remember really liking that game ( I played through it 2-3 times can't remember ).
But looking back the music was really great even today :)
Yes please do~
Beware the Batman needs a continuation or conclusion. The series was prematurely shut down by Cartoon Network unfairly and people were getting into it when CN was deliberately getting it harder to view the show. Same with Disney's treatment of the book series Abadazad.
Without Butch Hartman, I don't see a reason to even bother.
It would be great to see danny phantom again though I think its best it doesn't come back due to nick not focusing much on animation and butch gone
That sounds pretty interesting. Not sure if I would want it in Nick's hands though.
If Nickelodeon / Billionfold Inc. Or another studio reboots Danny Phantom (which I hope they do & *not* just a continuation) there are a few people they'd need to bring back:
*Steve Marmel*
Guy Moon, as a composer / music & sound effects guy
*Marty Isenberg*
*Ray Angrum*
Fred Reyes
Wincat Alcala
Sib Ventress
Julie Hashiguchi
Ben Balistreri
Robb Pratt
Shaunt Nigoghossian
James Yang
Sam Bullock
Amy Keating Rogers
Plus the Cast:
David Kaufman
Gray DeLisle
Rickey D'Shon Collins
Colleen O'Shaughnessey
Rob Paulson
Kath Soucie
Martin Mull
William Baldwin
Will Arnet
Marie Canals-Barrera
S. Scott Bullock
David Carradine
Brian Cox
Michael Dorn
Peri Gilpin
Peter MacNicol
Matthew St. Patric
Ron Perlman
Chynna Phillips
Eric Roberts
*Tara Strong*
Cree Summer
James Arnold Taylor
&
Jim Ward
You may have noticed a missing name: Butch Hartman AKA Elmer Earl "Butch" Hartman. That was intentional. He's not necessary for a reboot.
I think it should be given a second chance. It messed up it's story towards the end. I really want it back. Just don't get Hartman too involved.
If it were to be aired on Netflix, DP could even step into the "Darker Zone" like they did with Hey Arnold or Ducktales, allowing itself to take on the form that I believe Stephen Silver (the person the credits should actually go to) pitched for S3 (might've been someone else, probably was.)
The only thing I would seriously recommend is that if there WERE to be a reboot, keep Butch FAAAAAAAR away from it as humanly possible. For Insurance.
I would love if Butch continued doing cartoons on another network (personally I'm hoping for Netflix so he'd have more freedom with ideas)
That'd be a much better outlet for him.
I would reboot it but only if butch Hartman works on it
I would not reboot it on Nick; Netflix or TH-cam maybe, but NOT Nick.
----------
I also kind of want a reboot that's more.... realistic. Like...darker. Something that explores a more real side of Danny's (and everyone else's) character and experiences. I think that that would be interesting to see and enjoyable.
Yes! Ive been waiting for you to do something danny phantom related (also i keep missing your notifications so im glad i got this one)
Jenny Odonnell Yeah, TH-cam has been pretty crappy with notifications. I generally upload weekly if that’s anything.
That would be dope!
hyped for your total drama
Early April!
Yes more Danny Phantom
Update- just watched the video and yeah I wouldn’t trust Nick and at times Butch but I think if it were to get a reboot or continuation I would say do a TV movie on Nick or if Butch was really content on making the show again but they didn’t want to work with Nickelodeon try to get the rights back and maybe put it on another network I think the best possibly would be Netflix as right now (at least in my opinion) they are doing the best animation wises (with Disney being a close second) and I feel like the team would have more freedom on Netflix even if it’s an unlikely thing to happen
Personally speaking I'd give it a comic book continuation with it being written by Butch.
Well, there is Kuro the Artist's take, "5 Years Later", a crossover starring him and Ben 10.
i would reboot it but only if butch is doing it and has no restraints on creative freedom along with the drive to either continue or complete teboot, eiher are good options as long as there quality
@Jonathan Menzies every one has what they like to see. I can respect that.
We need to find away to bring back Thundercats.
geardog24 Tigers were never good, but I do believe every bad show should get a retry
The 2011 reboot was excellent. To bad it was Cancelled by Cartoon Network
Something Danny Phantom like but then anime? *Upcoming mix of Danny Phantom and Winx Club confirmed!*
Cool video 🤗🤗Continue the hard work
JaycobsFavs DX Thank you
Your absolutely right as of right now we don't have anyone we could trust with Danny Phantom I actually did a post on Tumblr about this a few years ago where we just can't trust either of them and it got a lot of reblogs within the fandom then it came back with the release of the adult character designs.
Daniel Perez I agree.
They need to get Steve Marmel back and not take on butch Hartman. Otherwise I'm not interested.
*_YES, DEW IT! DEW IT NOW!_*
As long as they don't turn it into this childish BS.
You herd X new album right? Shits flames huh
Michigan Made ❓
From what you're saying, it seems more like rebooting the show right now wouldn't be a good idea, but what about in the future? Maybe in 5-10 years things could change, and either Butch or Nick could give a reboot or continuation the time and respect it deserves.
Mirth Mouser It all depends on many factors, like how Nick treats animation in general.
Very true, all we can hope for is a better future for animation.
You might slap the crap out of me for saying this but he retired 😢 he may not bring back Danny Phantom
I still have some hope that Danny Phantom will continue one day
Yes
if someone trustworthy enough was behind the writing and animating, yes i would reboot it. otherwise, leave it
I completely agree with you with Hartman gone, the current state of Nick and it's past treatment of other action shows (The Legend of Korra) I don't wanna see a rebooted Danny Phantom.
Not saying the show is bad as they even elude to a possible spinoff toei could bring to life (and hopefully crossover with Precure)
And with Code Lyoko there arent as many glaring problems aside from the entirety of Code Lyoko: Evolution.
Tragic Villains are best villains if done right
Maybe I would pick up the series where it ended.
Danny Phantom is my favorite Nick Toon show, and it's Butch Hartman's masterpiece.
Yes, of course.
would you reboot power puff girls 2016?
lol
Sooooooo, when is the 'emoji movie' review gonna happen?
Sure DesolatePhantom! The links for requests are in the description below.
Yes!
Butch left nick
If I ever where to do a reboot I make it have an original feel to it! I know how Butch Hartman shows work! I plan on working for ick someday and if they don't reboot it by then, then i will try! I feel like nick would want a diffrenet art style, hate to say it. But as long as it be from someone that can be trusted, right?
yes if i ever i would ask Butch as well to get involved
Heck I sure know I would
But at the same time it lead on a good reputation
i feel like yes but only if you have both butch and guy moon on it
Can you do a Ninjago Sons of Garmadon?
Hartman got way ahead of himself in Season 2, doing THREE movies - and I don't think Nick thought it was a sustainable model. I'm betting he was told he was already on thin ice when Season 3 began, and that's why the whole thing was so rushed, what with the first episode to premiere (Urban Jungle) being the fifth or sixth episode chronologically, confusing the hell out of dedicated watchers who had no idea who Frostbite was. We only got to see Dani once more.
I'd like to see what they originally had in mind for Season 3. Marmel and Butch did the job fine together.
That said, I'd be wary of a reboot.
I feel half of season 2 and all of season 3(though there are a couple of good episodes) should be rebooted.
That's pretty fair.
Maybe
I would love to see a Dark Danny season.
there actually currently is a fan effort to reboot/reanimate this show.
Where? And why aren't I involved? ;-;
I have seen it around social media platforms, and I think auditions for script writing and voice acting are still open? So if you wanna get involved you probably still could
U mentioned asdfmovie I love that series but it ended which is sad
IIRC Kuro the Artist asked Butch why it was canceled. Butch told him it was due to the network simply wanted new content :/
Today, Netflix has Pinky Malinky & Glitch Techs which were produced for Nickelodeon & shows like The Casagrandes & It's Pony.
butch hartman has tried to buy back the rights to danny phantom many times but they won't sell it back to him, that new show butch was working on ended up being shelved
i agree with u here in that I don't trust butch or Nickelodeon with the danny phantom property. I would say send it to Netflix but a lot of their animated shows are bad
Interesting, I heard the opposite in another comment.
I'd reboot Danny Phantom & I hope Nick does choose to do so.
This is not official, but a wiki page said they POSSIBLY going to reboot Danny.
TwT want so bad for butch to get Danny phantom back. (He said in one of his TH-cam videos that he sold it to nick and that if he were to get it back then he would have no issue bringing it back.)
Sleepy Alpaca That’s fair.
is your total drama review going to be review 100
No, it's more of a seasonal review, and will be out Early April. Halfway through recording.
I really kinda hated that Hey Arnold. It lacked the deepness that the original had. Also the parent were so weird at the end that poeple thought they were ghost or something.
Maybe they should have Dan Phantom escape the Fenton Thermos and reset the timeline.
