Besides the wonderful music and Zora's amazing voice, Blackbriar's lyrics are so deep. For just about every song, there is a surface level meaning and one or two deeper levels of meaning that you can think about, as you noticed with this one. There are so many great ones that you should try, but The Séance and Selkie are two of my favorites.
Blackbriar are another of my long list of favourite bands, no wonder listening to them all takes up so much of my time 🙃 Zora has a really pretty voice doesn’t she? There's a great old TV episode (Night Gallery, I think) that looks into the sin eating concept. Creeped me out as a kid. I really like Zora's rendition more that Rod Serling's, lol.
Zora is a siren, if you want haunting you should try out "weakness and lust" or "arms of the ocean" for instance..... she can get about 100 times more haunting ;-)

While there are a number of positive comments, it's a group I've never remotely hear of, though I found the video accompanying the music created some interest, not so attracted to the music - and that based on would it be something I'd listen to on the radio. Not so much. Not placing a value there just personal appeal.

i saw this when it premiered a few months back. I fell in love with this band after hearing "I'd rather burn at the stake."
