People have no idea what they're missing out on, the fact that people don't understand how good chicken foot is and even liver and gizzards, is very much crazy. Not sure if many weren't poor enough to have had to eat those because they were no other options. I do see Americans and many other nations creating waste by not utilizing the entire chicken. Even the guts you'd use that to make either dog food or black or white pudding. I am happy to say I am from a nation where we did not let our meat go to waste. Thank you for making these videos to inform us on how to make these kinds of things.
I've been making bone broth for about 5 years I think. I'm glad I watched this video. I got some good ideas. I didn't know about straining at the beginning. I also didn't know about when to add the veggies. I don't always use veggies either. I don't have dogs but my mother-in-law who lives walking distance does so of course I pick all the scraps off for them. I just found out about using chicken feet a couple months ago. We raise meat chickens too so in the spring we plan on processing 100 chickens to have enough for our kids and mother-in-law ☺️ We live in NW Montana but I'm originally from Minnesota. Around Northfield, Rosemount. 😊
I recently found your channel and I love it. I didn't know you were a dietitian, but I so love learning about food and growing food, and cooking from scratch. Very glad I found this channel.
I just had to put my 11 year old Doggo down before Christmas so it was lovely seeing your dogs enjoy their treats. I hope Roxy has a few years left xxx
Katie! So glad I found your channel! It was recommended by our friend Rachael. I love your bone broth recipe. Since you are a registered dietitian, could you make suggestions for eating for arthritis and inflammation. Your farm is absolutely beautiful and I will look forward to following your channel. Your content reminds me of how my Mom used to cook for us on our family farm in Iowa. But we live in Kansas and the soil isn't so great here. Have you done any hydroponic gardening. And more cooking tips please. And the chicken feet are weird, but I get the benefits.
Hi Lynn! It’s so great to hear from you and I am so glad you found my channel ☺️! I’ll definitely keep those suggestions in mind as I plan out future content. I hope you’re doing well!
Katie, enjoyed this video very much. Thanks for posting! We too save all our bones until we have enough and we also do not use any veggies...save those for when we are making something with the broth! I usually freeze our finished broth but want to try pressure canning so this was very helpful. I learned that bones should be "cooked" until they are brittle enough to fall apart/break with one hand. So, that it usually anywhere between 24-48 hours for our crockpots. Again, thanks so much!
I have been making bone broth for a number of years but will definitely try a few things from your video like letting the bones sit for an hour and skimming the scum. I have also always used regular vinegar but will definitely try apple cider. I usually cook it in an electric roaster and I cook for 24 plus hours. I do this as the bones disintegrate just by pressing the bones between my fingers. I then put the bones ( as long as then disintegrate) and any veg in a food processor and bone up. And freeze in silicone muffin tins for my dogs. I live in Thunder Bay just 1.5 hours north of grand Marais in Canada so love the northern content.
I put the bones and meat in high pressure canner with some water and can for 90+ mins til bones are soft and can mash with my fingers. Blend in the vitamin and can in pint jars only 2/3 filled label pet food. Could feed to cats, dogs or even chickens
AG1, just like the Orgain protein power with superfoods they both have Alfalfa in them which I am allergic to. I've never tried them since I know I am allergic. Have any other suggestions, or are they actually safe to consume for someone that was tested allergic to Alfalfa?
My dietitian recommended a better diet for me and suggested I make my own soup. Your Bone Broth is a great start, and so simple. I have canned before and will again. Now that we've got the broth can you sugest 2 or 3 vegetable soups that I can make? That would be great. Thanks.🥣

It’s so true!! I hope that we can start turning the corner here. So much food is wasted
Thank you for explaining and demonstrating so well the benefits of bone broth.
You're welcome! I'm so glad you found it helpful.

Absolutely love making bone broth!! I mainly make beef bone broth, but have done chicken as well.
I’m so glad to hear it!!
Literally the best bone broth video I’ve seen 😊

You're very welcome!

I have a mesh bag I used to make yogurt that I used to filter
Every time I get a cutting board out, our lab comes to sits under it. If anything rolls off or happens to fall, he gets as quick as he can.
I love that you don't use vegetables either! This whole video was super helpful. Thank you! 😊
I’m so glad to hear it!!
❤️👍🤤Happy New Years!! Great video.
Happy New Year to you too!!
Glad I found your channel. I also love in minn. And make bone broth.
Welcome!! 🫶🏼
Love the nutritional information, have a better understanding of why to do things the way it done
I'm so glad it helped!
Can you do one when you do beef also? Trying to improve my bone broth process. Ha we tend to eat all meat & skin so my 1st 2 tries were tasteless
Merry Christmas from Mexico! 😊
Enjoy your time away!!!
I have been making bone broth for a couple of years, but still learned some things to get a more consistent product.
Glad I could help! 🫶🏼
Super great info!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching!

Is it okay to pressure can on a glass top stove?
Thank you xx
I’m happy you enjoyed it!
Really great video, I’m gonna change my game!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you so much for sharing, I make bone broth weekly and do like to add veggies and herbs, and what point would you recommend?
I would add them once you’re done skimming the scum off the top
I make chicken bone broth… so often… I do use the bone
To make bone meal …… it’s so good to add it to gardens and plants ….
That’s awesome!! 👏🏼👏🏼
Have you ever made PHO? I think you’d love it
I Learned from a Vietnamese restaurant owner and it makes the broth so much better
I have!!! It’s delicious!!

When doing beef, do I roast after vinegar time or before?
Before!
If you do add vegetables in at what point do you add them?
When you’re done skimming the scum
Good wishes .
Same to you! 🙏🏼
Would using an instant pot be ok?
For making the broth, yes, but not for pressure canning
@ ok thank you! Loved how informative the video was.
Went to sign up for one of your courses, but for some reason, the discount code isn't working.
Oh no! Did you use THRD10 ?
Interesting!!!!
It’s such a great staple to have around!
How do you render the chicken fat from the broth into useable cooking fat?
I have a mini crockpot that I transfer it to and let it go until it’s fully rendered and all of the water has evaporated iut
❤❤❤🎉
You can water bath for 3 hours
I'm going to champion Roxy and say she's not being aggressive, she just can't see well enough to avoid your hand.
Yeah, I think that’s a lot of it 🫶🏼
Love your channel and everything that you teach. You should look into the shady background of the founders of AG1…
Put the leftover bones in a blender with water. It breaks everything down into a liquid and feed to the dogs.
