- Today I am installing a set of hinges and pins to fix my door that was hit by my neighbor. Hopefully, this will help it line up better and my stock hinges aren't too bent out of shape. This fix is for 1999-2006 Chevy/GMC full-size trucks and SUV's.

Parts needed for the repair

As always we hope you enjoy the show and let us know in the comments if you have any suggestions or just want to say hi! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
At least he's realistic about the problems you run across and to what crazy extreme we go to fix stuff
Love your videos buddy. Sense of humor is outstanding!
It’s a temporary fix. I replaced my pins and bushings 3 years ago, but today, the cheap bushings have worn badly and it’s sagging again. Don’t use a sawsall, use an angle grinder!
10 or 15 minutes, haha! Too funny! A lot more than meets the eye when working on door hinges. Also, instead of using a sawsall , you could have used a file to remove that preened over lip. Enjoyed your video!
Dang why didn't think of doing that! Well if I ever have to fix the other side I will definitely give that a try! Thanks!
Why couldn't my man's flip that Dremel over? 🤣
Do you have a link for the Stricker bolt or where to get it? Thank you!
Link Card?
What is it a puppy or a sawzall. and that's all. Oh pss that was right under 15 min so I thumbs up
If I don't have a bent hinge do I still need to take the door completely off to replace these?
absolutely not
did you ever figure out why it wont shut slowly?
G sby it turned out the striker on my door was bent out of shape from being hit by my neighbors truck. I had to get a new one and readjust the location of it.
How to remove top hinge bracket
What is Total Automotive's phone number for those hinges for your sagging door
Put your purse down and lift the door
Using engine hoist I use a fan belt looped around top of door. .. and pulling wiring waist of time just roll engine hoist back a few inches gives you room..
That’s a good idea, I’ll have to try that on my passenger door.
That’s a good idea, I’ll have to try that on my passenger door.
I have a 1988 Chevrolet C1500 2wd. I Have replaced top and bottom pins and bushings and the door still sagging . Any suggestions will be helpful thanks
On my door I ended up changing out the strikers as well. I'm not sure about the older generation, but I know on these trucks if the hinge connected to the body is worn bad enough it would have to be replaced as well. On these newer trucks that means cutting and welding. I had an old C10 at one point and those were easily replaced with just 4 bolts. I would check for any slop in the new pins and make sure the bushings are fully pressed into the hinge. I hope this helps.
@@TheDailyDrift the hinges on my truck are welded on . But I'm going to replacing Striker too so thanks
Why didn't you just buy new hinges and take those completely off?
Good trick to try first.... block of wood and a jack under door.
Not, with these vehicle
@@ArielMarcelo no kidding, extremely heavy doors! I am on my fifth full size Chevrolet and they’ve all had sagging hinges..
@@SouthernSummoners awesome vehicles, go 400k+ miles easy on any gm/Chevy V8. But they have their downsides, doors that sag, blower motor resistors blow to often and it's really easy to mess up your transmission. But a blower motor resistor is cheap, a sagging door isn't the end of the world and proper care fixes anything that could go wrong with your transmission.
A little tape will protect surfaces,,, sometimes.
Where did you buy the tool and what it called please thank you
I bought them on Amazon. I have links to them in the description.
lmfao
MIATA!!!!!!!!!
Is this PattyMayo?
oh come on don't tell them that now you're ruining it for everybody. LOL tell him they need a bigger grinder preferably five or six horsepower
Your lucky 😭 i think my first truck 1989 silverado will need to have the driver door welded shut my damn latch isnt working and my hinge pins arnt either 😂
Sorry to hear that. I used to have a Blazer from those years and had a similar problem with the doors. Those dang hinge pins are always a problem.
I ended up just changing the whole door on mine. They are pretty cheap
Hammer bigger hammer bang bang
Tool
RnR.....
Yup obviously I have a cherry picker lying around my house 😑
I just assumed most people do because they are cheap and fold-able. I think I paid about $150 for mine about 10 years ago. If you don't have one of those, having a couple friends help hold it up works just fine as well. The door has some weight to it, but it's manageable especially with friends. I don't really have a lot of friends and like doing things on my own, so I bought a cherry picker. Good luck on your install!
I used a jack to support the door on the bottom
Ratchet strap off a tree branch..... jump rope off the basketball goal.... I mean there's different ways to thread this needle
There not that heavy alone i was able to pick my door up off the pins and put back on but it's a little tricky seeing the pin holes when your tring to get back on
You failed to show how to fix the sagging door where's the adjustment pin???? All you did was door replacement.
The door sags from worn out bushings. The new bushings/pins is the fix for that 😣
you did not solve the problem
Ew... a non ratcheting wrench
Stop trying to be cool and just get on with it
Lose the stupid music next time Dork
Lighting on the video sucked. Did you not watch the video before you posted it. Almost learned nothing
