  • In this vid I start the construction of a mini hand tool workbench, these type benches are great to use with your main workbench or as a space saver. It helps to raise the work up to a comfortable level for when you are doing detailed work.

FYI, rub sawdust onto the glue squeeze out then use a putty knife to scrape the remainder off the top. It makes cleaning up the glue easy and there's no film left on the wood. This is a tip I discovered on Next Level Carpentry's channel and it works.

Enjoying your videos since subbing. I agree with the comment about planning what you want to say although the natural feel as you convey your ideas is good to watch so you can't please everyone! As long as you enjoy what you do I'll keep watching!

The proud joinery is a great look, I recently built a maple bench and stitching pony with proud dovetails and mortise and tenons very happy with it. Great job man!!!

Nice one John, so important to mind the upper back...

Instead of having all three clamps over the top, I would have put the two end ones across the bottom and the middle across the top. Then the panel can rest against the clamps to stay flat.

Are you still doing Electrical work during the day? I’ve actually been thinking about building a little fold down work bench about that size myself. My work space has shrunk to almost nothing by camping stuff, bikes, skies, hockey nets, garden maintenance stuff.....

SAFETY: Your backhand has to move in front of the safety guard as soon as possible as pressure should only applied to the front / already jointed part of the wooden board to ensure that it is plane. In addition you could have a "Katz-Moses" moment.....

When you are speaking your sound level is a *LOT LOWER* than the level of your music. The music nearly blasted me out of my chair.

I think you would be better off to show more work and less talking it would make for a better vid. Maybe script out what you are going to say.

@@Glaucidium810 Me, too. The chat makes it informal, and keeps it going. In my humble Irish opinion. :-)
