    The Triumph is as much art as it is a motorcycle. It’s what to me a motorcycle should be, that one is done right , Beautiful !

    Thanks much for doing this video, Mike. You're really getting good at video, directing and editing. I probably should have talked about the restoration or what I know of it. I believe the bike was purchased by Gary, the restorer, in 1999. Most of the restoration took place in 2000. In 2011 Gary had a Triumph mechanic go over the bike to check it out and make any corrections or adjustments it needed. When not being worked on it was stored in a temperature and humidity controlled basement. Gary decided to sell it last year and posted a little note in one of the Triumph forums in facebook. That is where I saw it and contacted him. Gary has mostly done automotive restorations including a '67 GTO and an original Cobra. He also has a beautiful green '67 TR6 he restored. These restorations are a hobby to him. Thank you, Gary for selling me this beautiful bike that brings me back to my high school and college days.

      Mark Ibinsen: Yes, finally had the courage to put the gaiter straps on. I was afraid to mess one up as there were no instructions. They came out great. I rerouted the tach cable so there is no danger of it touching the pipe. The regulator was not charging the battery so I replaced it with a different brand that stays cool and works well. Thanks for your comments.

      Mark Ibinsen: Thank you for your comments Mark. I had to replace the voltage regulator. It wasn't charging the battery. Just overheating. I replaced it with a finned one that charges the battery and stays cool. I don't remember the brand name. The tach cable stays clear of the pipe so I think it's OK. I finally had the courage to put on the gaiter clamps. I had no instruction so I was afraid to mess them up. But they came out just fine.

      Same deal here. MRS wants me to sell my 67 Triumph Trophy and my 72 Norton Commando. I just can't bare to do it. They are so much a part of me ! She has no clue. She just wants an empty garage. DUH, you can't enjoy an empty garage like my garage is now ! At least I can sit on them and remember my great rides and fun I had. You can't take that away from me !

    WOW what a stunning bike.....I missed out on these things I was 12 in 1965 here in England.....straight onto cars aged 17.....got my first bike aged 63 now 70 its a 50 year old BSA still have it....around that time I fell in love with 60s Triumphs...my dream was to own a Bonnie from the 60s.
    By the time I had the money when I was 67 I decided it would be to much for me getting another old bike....I was slowing down.
    So I bought a brand new Triumph T100....hasn't got the class this machine in the video has....but I love it to bits....even got a set of short toga pipes like this one,....doesn't sound as great of course but still sound nice.
    Thank god there are still people keeping these stunning machines alive and care for them so well.

    Actually the single carburetor worked better on this engine than the twin carbs for normal riding. Better idle and torque. The twin carbs only gave a little extra at the top 10% of revs where it vibrated like hell. Absolutely a gorgeous bike.

    There's something about a 60's Triumph which Edward Turner got right. And a gold one just seems to pop. My 1964 Tiger 90 is the same colour and gives me the same feeling every time I get it out of the garage and see it in the sun

Had to sell her when I got drafted into the US Army. Dad wanted it off his driveway ! He hated m'cycles for some unknown reason. Maybe he had no balance and could not ride them. I never found out his reasons ! Miss her dearly ! (You too Dad !)

    Trophy? My uncle had a 1971 Trophy but it had the high pipes exiting to the left side. I guess Triumph swapped the names around to different styles of bikes. By any other name this Trophy is certainly a charmer.

    • @bonkeydollocks1879
      @bonkeydollocks1879 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the early bikes up to about 68 had the exhausts as per video then from 68/69 they put the high pipes and high 'western' or USA spec bars on them too. The 71 trophy would have been the oil in frame P93 frame (taller) model with the "western/USA" spec tank, exhaust and bars. Both in my opinion are basically poetry in motion. The bike in the video is incredibly beautiful.
