Dude, as soon as this video came out I decided to try it. My father has type 2 diabetes and I have been trying to get him on a more plant based diet so I have been cooking with tofu more. I didn't have all the ingredients but I did substitute alternatives and it seriously WORKS! After tasting it, it's so hearty and makes good for the soul. Thank you for making this video! 💜
Meat is not bad for diabetics. Sugar is, which is abundant in a vegetarian diet if you are not careful. Bread, rice and other grains (I hear oats is good though, havent tried it) , bananas, fruit juices in stores, all these need to be limited. My dad's relatives often have type 2 diabetes and he kept his in check for decades without any medications (he passed away due to illness acquired due to his work). Type 2 diabetes is quite common where I am from so we know how to handle it. Diabetes is literally insulin resistance, so body is unable to process sugar the way normal people do, i.e convert it into fat and store it. This is also the reason they often lose weight a lot and have other issues caused by too much sugar floating around in their body. I hope your father manages his diabetes well and I wish him a long helathy life.

The fact that you come up with such easy recipes and give these alternatives to ingredients...it is amazing. Hello from India... Love the way you speak and describe the food... and in this one... loved especially the way you said garam masala and kashmiri red chilli. I hope to try this one and that would be my first tofu dish ever in my kitchen. ❤️🙏
Small suggestion: You can add coloured peppers 🫑 or just the green pepper while sautéing shallots & tofu. Peppers too bring great flavour to this dish….. thumbs up for the recipe though.
This recipe is absolutely on the dot. Being an Indian and a self-professed cook, I live to eat. I love East Asian cuisine and the subtle flavors e.g., Cantonese at one end and Sichuan spicy kind on the other. What is most fascinating is the array of container of a similar type but of varied size. I have struggled in vain. Any idea where I could buy these ones...of course, in different size? I need an array of four different sizes to size composition complete the over the counter 3 shelf cabinet to adequately equip it. Notwithstanding it goes without saying...I have faithfully followed your recipe. Just outstanding!
I am east Indian we cook a lot of curry but since I discovered your channel I love your method of curry it's different but I love it and I have been trying them.
Made & eaten this evening and oh my goodness Wil; this is the best masala I've ever eaten (I omitted the chilli oil though as i felt the recipe indicated enough heat what with the green chilli/dried chilli's/cayenne pepper) thanks and bless, eternally. 🙏
We just finished this and it was a triumph. The only differences were that we sliced the tofu about 66% of your size, used your later chills oil and Kashmir chills powder. This will become a staple in our home over the coming months and years. So easy, but you definitely need a well stocked spice cabinet. Thanks Wil!
At first i was sceptical about the spices letting whole. I normally use my pestle and mortar. But oh my did this dish took me to a flavor planet! The spice i cant describe it as spicy and refreshing all at once. Im starting to cook vegan cause i want to eat less meat, and it isnt a boring dish at all it is quite surprising! Thank you man
This looks delicious and looks even better. One small suggestion, maybe before adding in the tofu and shallots if Wil blended the sauce to give it a velvety smooth texture it will be more like traditional Masala. This dish is definitely going on my recipes to try. Cheers!
I like how you sauteėd the spices, Wil! That is a critical step. You get the best aromas and flavours that way. Too many people just sprinkile the raw spices on top, when the food is done. This tofu massala is BOSS! ❤❤🙏
I have made most of your recipes and have dog-eared and spilled on both your amazing cookbooks and rewatched every video. You have made my vegan happy hour “come try this” gathering very popular even for my carnivorous friends. Can’t wait to get the new book! ❤
Thts how i make just few things different..i add cardamon whole coz some ppl dont like when they bite them and coriander seeds i keep powder ones ..so add that with masala n salt.. Also i season my tofu with. Cumin powder and other few seasond and than in teaspoon oil brown them all side..rest is all same just i add kashmiri chilli powder as mention n if some ppl dnt like coconut milk they can add heavy cream .and yummy in ny tummy..🙏💜🇺🇲
i'm "plant based-curious" and this was the first yeung man cooking recipe I have tried! I can't eat a lot of carbs which makes finding vegan recipes a little hard sometimes so this one was perfect. it came out so deliciously. it would be great if the recipe in the notes had some more visual cues for the steps (for example in steps 4 and 6, should the onions/shallots be browned or only softened, etc) to make the recipe a little easier to follow. thank you wil and I love your content!
Very nice. Next time, Wil, keep the Cardamom pods. Dry-roast them for a couple of minutes along with the Cumin and Corriander seeds. Also add half-a-stick of cinnamon. Let cool. Then, coarsely grind the spices. When added to the hot oil (I cook in either Peanut or Sesame Oil), the ensuing aroma will drive you crazy. Guarantee. My idea of adding fresh Coriander is at least 1/2 cup... chopped. LOL
I don't enjoy trying to digest hot peppers. What do you recommend as a substitute? -- smoked paprika? I don't know if that would go with the ginger. I love Indian food l.

So glad to hear you are enjoying 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
Made & eaten this evening and oh my goodness Wil; this is the best masala I've ever eaten (I omitted the chilli oil though as i felt the recipe indicated enough heat what with the green chilli/dried chilli's/cayenne pepper) thanks and bless, eternally. 🙏
So excited to hear you enjoyed 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
Looks absolutely delicious! I love your recipes!💕💕
🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
I am so going to try this recipe sometime....how are you doing and your weekend hope it’s going well??
So soothing! And can we talk about your seasoning storage. Absolute GOALS!!!
☺️🙌🏻
Can't wait to try this out! I recently discovered your channel and love the way you bring a twist to Indian cooking
Made this tonight. Delicious! Thanks for the recipe.
Wow you already made it and I was planning on trying it sometime soon lol I know it would taste fabulous?
Finally got around to making this today. The depth of flavour is excellent. Really liked it.
🙌🏻🥳👨🏻🍳
I need a week with more days to pack in all your delicious recipes! Life is suddenly too short. Thank you from England.
Extra days in a week would be quite amazing 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳 Keep well and happy cooking
Made this a few times and making it again for tonight's dinner. The most amazing flavour sensation. Thank you Will!
Yummm 😎 Enjoy
I love the way you cook. This recipe looks fabulous. I will definitely make this!
Very kind of you and enjoy! 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
And the Chilli Oil- phenomenal!
Wow, looks amazing, guess what we’re eating tonight? Thanks Wil. Great music btw
Woooo! 🙌🏻🥳 Party at your house 😎
@@YEUNGMANCOOKING you would, of course, be most welcome. You could check out the spice system you inspired us to get!
Thank you man
These videos are soothing. I put on in the morning just to listen to your voice and music 🙂
☺️
I'm sick right now, and this sounds like heaven. A bowl of this would heal everything right now.
Sending well wishes!
Beautiful, I have eggplants in my garden. The sauce will make it. Your recipes are🎉.
Wow, this will taste extra delicious with fresh ingredients 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳 Happy cooking
Delicious, thanks for sharing your recipes with us 🙏🤩. We ate it with potatoes and was lovely.
Sounds like a delicious pairing 🙌🏻
@@YEUNGMANCOOKING yes it was. we made steamed potatoes
Wow already and look at me here planning to try it out but was lazy to cook lol 😂😂
This looks delicious and looks even better. One small suggestion, maybe before adding in the tofu and shallots if Wil blended the sauce to give it a velvety smooth texture it will be more like traditional Masala. This dish is definitely going on my recipes to try. Cheers!
Definitely an option 🙌🏻
OH, YAY! Another dish to use those cardamom pods! lol Thanks, Wil! It looks amazing and I can't wait to try it!
Excited for you to enjoy this dish 🙌🏻🥳
Looks yummy and satisfying don’t you think??
Ordered the new cookbook today! This looks yummy! Love watching your channel ❤️
Wooo! 🙌🏻🥳 Excited for you to receive it and hear which recipes you cook up
Looks yummy and satisfying don’t you think??
Your dishes are a wonderful one-bowl beauty. Did you attend a culinary school? Yours is one of the BEST!
Lay ho maa, Wil. That is definitely a work of art...and it looks absolutely delicious! I'd love to be in your kitchen while you cook...
🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
😊🤗
I like how you sauteėd the spices, Wil! That is a critical step. You get the best aromas and flavours that way. Too many people just sprinkile the raw spices on top, when the food is done. This tofu massala is BOSS! ❤❤🙏
Looks yummy and satisfying don’t you think??
You have mastered the art of Indian curry making, as an Indian myself, I am in awe!
Absolutely love your recipes and videos. Thank you so much!

Oh wow, what a pleasure cooking with you all these years 🤗 Keep well
I have made most of your recipes and have dog-eared and spilled on both your amazing cookbooks and rewatched every video. You have made my vegan happy hour “come try this” gathering very popular even for my carnivorous friends. Can’t wait to get the new book! ❤
That is amazing to hear and so happy you (and others) are enjoying 🙌🏻

Sounds great 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
His spice cabinet is so organized, and I love his spice container, does anyone know where I can buy them?
Hiya 🙋🏻♂️ The are the PC brand from Loblaws stores. They were out of stock for years, however are current back in!
@@YEUNGMANCOOKING Thank you for sharing this information. I hope I find them this weekend.
i'm "plant based-curious" and this was the first yeung man cooking recipe I have tried!
Great feedback and will keep this in mind for future recipes 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
Wow this looks scrumptious. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Great video, love the music too 💫
Thku so much for this lovely recipe🙏🙏
Guarantee.
My idea of adding fresh Coriander is at least 1/2 cup... chopped. LOL
Can you replace coconut cream with milk or cream? Dairy
I don't enjoy trying to digest hot peppers. What do you recommend as a substitute? -- smoked paprika? I don't know if that would go with the ginger.
I love Indian food l.
Going to try this now. Looks a bit 'hot' to me so I'm going to tone down the spices. Love your recipes
👨🏻🍳👌🏻
The word nuclear came to mind 😂
OMG. Fantastical. It's late here but I'd eat it now even though it'd blow my head off.
Please explain the difference between onions and shallots 🤷♀️.
