Low 90s.... We call that early Spring in Texas. I stil see folks in hoodies up to that temp lol. Yesterday was nearly 90 and we still got weeks before school lets out.

Great video. I moved to the Yukon from the prairies. Another home buying tip for Alaska/Yukon, not Fairbanks specifically, figure out where the sun rises and sets during the winter, and how that will impact how much sun you get. I had never considered shadows from mountains growing up on the prairies. A house on one side of a street can be fully engulfed in shadow, but the house across the street can be fully basking in sunlight. Sunlight is especially crucial if you're living off-grid. Remember, where the shadows are cast in July won't be the same in January.
The number of communal activities is 100% accurate. Always something going on somewhere if that's your sort of thing. Perfect for extroverts and introverts alike.
And the sun isn't that bad in the winter. It's how quickly it goes down in the fall that gets me. But it also changes rapidly in the spring. Plus, my daughter sleeps in more on weekends, which is a blessing. Haha.

@@DiscoverFairbanks Nature. And I don't just mean all the beautiful mountains and forests and wildlife. I mean being away from civilization. It's a much more laid-back lifestyle where people look out for one another. Being up north makes finding a work-life balance a lot easier. And no rush hour traffic.

The cold snaps are relatively short compared to the 1980s and 1990s. Fairbanks does get only 12 inches of precipitation annually which I like...August is typically the wettest month, but even then not much total precip. YES! Winter rain is the worst and more common with the warming climate.

I’m going to Fairbanks this Saturday for a few days for Spring Break and will arrive Sunday midnight. I’ve been a little nervous these last few months if it’ll be too cold for me to handle since I’m from Georgia and hardly experienced single digits/negative temperatures.
I think I’ll be fine with the winter gear I bought recently but I’m wondering if it’s safe to go out and hike for a project I’d like to do for my class or should I limit how long I stay outside?

@rebirthphoenix5646 It looks like we're going to be at or around 0 degrees this weekend and through next week. Wear a nice coat, bring some mittens, and a good hat. If what you bring isn't enough, stop my Prospector Outfitters on South Cushman in Fairbanks, and they'll get you warm enough!.
There are a lot of hikes that you can do around town. Check out Chena Lakes, Tanana Lakes for trails in town that would be great for this time of year!

@@DiscoverFairbanks Oh thank you I’ll keep an eye out for y’all if it’s too cold then! I was looking actually about going to the Chena Hot Springs since I’ve heard there’s the Angel Rocks Trail there and it’s the perfect length for my project but I did here there’s other close to downtown too.

My grandson moved up 10 years ago.He worked on the Haul Road for the DOT until he started his own business. Bought a home in North Pole. The wife and I love it because we have a place to stay when we come up in the summer
