- In "Ready or Not," Samara Weaving plays a young bride who is forced to participate in a deadly game of hide and seek with her new husband's family. And she does this all while wearing her wedding dress, which goes through some drastic changes throughout the film. While the audience seems to see just one gown on screen, 24 dresses were actually created for the film. Costume designer Avery Plewes explains why.

Everyone needs to see this movie. It was honestly sooo good. Horror comedy's are rare these days, this one is in the same awesome zone as Get Out.
They both are exaggerated satires of the rich and privileged. Ready or Not is more comedic but it falls in a similar vein to Get Out, Rosemary's Baby, The Stepford Wives and so on.
Get Out is essentially a giant metaphor for racism, not an “exaggerated satire”
JackDoesYT But.... it IS a satire. I think a film, especially one like Get Out, can be nuanced enough to be more than one thing. Satire is the use of humour or exaggeration to expose certain topical issues. In Get Out it was racism. I’m Ready or Not it was the class divide.

Kudos to the costume designer. First off, can we appreciate that she was in sneakers for this movie, instead of the bullshit 'woman in heels when it would literally be better to be barefoot' cliche.
Second, that dress is GORGEOUS, and the way it was altered and utilized during the movie was genius.
This movie was insanely unexpected to me. I went only having seen the commercial for it, I did not expect it to be so funny, if you’re considering going to see it, I recommend,

This movie is one of the best of the year, I can’t recommend it enough
I agree. A lot of people r treating it as if it’s a dumb-fun flick, but I think there’s so much more to it. It feels innovative yet retro, in a way. Provides a similar feel to Clue with a completely different premise
So, the costume designer deserves an award and I’m glad that her work is being recognized here! 💖 Also, working with continuity. 👌🏼 Kudos, my darling! As a script supervisor, I feel this to the bone!
What I want to see next:

•How Joaquin Phoenix got into character for 'Joker'
DEKSTORD any movie scene with a shit ton of mirrors would be a mindfuck to edit.

Yup. I watched the movie and the dress looks incredibly mesmerising. I really love the transformation and amazingly appreciate the great efforts on it.. Bravo!

She was amazing in this movie. The ending was a bit weird though.
Samara weaving is so amazing...she came from being on Aussie soap operas (to be fair that's how an insane amount of Australian A list celebrities got started )...It's so exciting though that she came from Australia, overcame that whole Smilf awful thing and has risen like a Phoenix...I'm so impressed.
Kudos to the costume designer and the whole team in making the dresses! 24 dresses?! That's a lot!! I can imagine all the hard work and the technicalities that were poured into this film ❤️

I love her dress. I remember seeing the commercial and thinking that's what I want my wedding dress to look like if I'm ever married haha.
She did a great job with Daniel’s costume, Adam Brody looked hot af lmao
The dress at the beginning of the movie is absolutely gorgeous! It was a good choice not to use a princess gown for the movie that would of made the dress continuity so much harder lol
And I love the way her dress is used as another way to tell the story 💕

but one of the things i loved most when watching this movie was the dress, so this is really cool to watch
Me and my classmates had a movie concept for our yearbook, and one of my group from the class pickef this movie, the "bride"'s mom had a tailored dress, so that it would look similiar as the movie, looks dope on her. And her group killed it.
The movie was amazing, dark yet comedic. We were literally holding our breath while watching her fighting for her life in order to get out.

Another devolution of a movie wardrobe is Demi Moore's white romper in the 1990 movie "Nothing But Trouble". It goes from white to a dirt stained tan & when Demi finds the till white matching jacket to her romper later in the movie the you see the Stark contrast between the 2 clothing items

Loved the movie, finally something different and entertaining! Thanks for the behind the scenes, super interesting. There's a mistake though: she only rips the dress into a shorter skirt deliberately AFTER meeting up with her husband who hides her in one of the secret corridors and instructs her on how to get out. When she still doesn't know a thing about the "game" and is just bored with sitting in the food elevator, only a tiny bit of the skirt is trapped there once she decides to leave.
