I love how self aware they are with the costumes. They’re not trying to recreate the period, they’re being inspired by it. Using Bernadette Banner’s term: “It’s a Style Choice” and it’s beautiful!!!
@lsusanna3 I thought I would feel that way also, I finally have it try last month and it’s really well done! Modern day elements are incorporated throughout the show, the music played at the balls are modern pop songs, the makeup is wildly modern, the women have very modern outlooks on life, and so on….I find it interesting and entertaining
I want a Bridgeton costume museum after this show is over. The work and creativity amazes me. I’m serious when I say 50% of why I watch this show is because I love the clothes!
the costumes are definitely a factor in the success of the show. They're one of the first things that captivates the viewers. The artistry and beauty of each person gives the show a premium quality. Kudos to all the artists involved.
Honestly, it's one of the only reasons I'm still watching. I find myself rolling my eyes constantly at some of the scenes and dialogue. But I have to hand it to them that everyone looks stunning!
For all the gorgeousness of the dresses-It's the men's clothes that really get me. They are so much closer to historical than the historically inspired womens clothing which makes them feel even more genius. I am in love with waistcoats and watch fobs! (BTW hands down best outfit for the first 4 was Colin's hero balloon scene blue shirt and vest)
@@pmclaughlin4111 I feel like the men's clothes being a bit more historically accurate works great at grounding the costumes a bit in history, so that they can then have a bit more fun with the women's costuming.
I think it’s also the fact that men dressing this way in today’s time would be so cool, like girls still wear dresses but men haven’t worn these kind of clothes in song, bring this fashion back!
All dresses are breathtaking but that dark green dress that Penelope wears? It's iconic. One of the most beautiful movie dresses that I've ever seen. 👏👏
Absolutely. When a show is going to ham it up with the “wallflower gets a makeover” trope, it has to DELIVER with that new look being breathtaking. And they absolutely did. Nicola is beautiful, and all the departments in charge of making that shine through did their absolute finest work.
cressida's dresses were so different and eye catching. they didn't look the most flattering but i enjoyed that she really wanted to express herself like that
There is some explanations !! People are saying that it is to show her distance with the others and you can see in the scene in the park when she only talks with Eloise that she doesn't have the big shoulders cause she opens herself to her It his also to symbolise a bird cage, she is trapped in it in the same way she is trapped in her house with her abusive parents Some historian also say that it was a la mode a decade after and it show the way she is in advance on her time
I interpret Cressida's growing eccentricity as desperation to be noticed and to find a husband, as it's her third year "out". Also to be free of her oppressive family home.
I would pay so much money for a giant book on the costumes and even more for a costume department excursion, I'm in awe of what they're doing, every season it gets better and better. The lace, ombre organza/tulles, sparkling and painted fabrics this season? Gorgeous, I can't stop oogling every single person in the frame. And I'm so glad these clearly creative people are given the resources and the space to create all of these, especially as the show evolves and we see more cultural elements on a more diverse cast (there was a particularly beautiful eastern-looking floral fabric on an asian debutant in ep 2 that I've started noticing).
Kate's dress in the first episode of S3 is EPIC. The Bridgerton Blue with the brown and copper was jaw dropping. It really set her up as the Vicountess.
I like how this team is not limited by historical accuracy making it clear that everything in this story is about fantasy and they gave us more fashion in the clothes and hairstyles and Dougie excelled making the men look so good, masculine but without submitting to boring or very serious tones 😎🔥
These departments are doing an excellent job. I am in awe in every single episode an scene of how much work and creativity had gone into this. It's not just the romantic Stories, but the art that mesmerizes me. It brings me so much joy.
violets ombre sparkling gown was one of the prettiest ive ever seen, they really elevated the costumes this season and you can notice how much work and thought was put into it
I love the evolution of the costumes. It really elevates the show and the characters. It fits with the setting of AU regency London which allows the costumes to be not 100% historically accurate.
An absolute WORK OF ART!!! I am a sewer myself, therefore I understand the commitment and intricate work that goes into each and every costume. I sincerely hope and would love to see this group win an ACADEMY AWARD for Best Costume Design! That would be the cherry on top for me.
They are always outdoing themselves with the costumes. The details and artistry is amazing. But the way they plant Easter eggs and reflect where the characters are in the story and how they are relating to others through colour and texture is phenomenal
I'm usually all for historical accuracy in period drama costume BUT Brigerton's costume are just a work of art on their own. I envy those people that get to work on them and make them so much. I would love to create such gowns
Regency clothes are quite easy to sew together, but the details take time! Ribbons, maybe embroidery (not a must), appliqués... There are societies all over Europe and the USA that teach dances and organize balls in the style. I have been to several countries and met people who like Regency while dancing in beautiful mansions. It has become a fun and really nice hobby. I recommend it.
We need a spinoff with all the details about how bridgerton is made... everything is so smart and well done, its a shame we didn't know more about it. I just love it
For real. A bunch of those crazy delicate fabrics (not to mention the 3D printed stuff) probably can't be machine sewn, they most likely have to be hand sewn which takes so much time!
I love that this show has empowered the creative staff to flaunt their technical skills and encouraged the various departments to work collaboratively, the final products are simply stunning. I found myself just as amazed by Cressida’s wigs and gowns as I was with the Queen’s. And it’s wonderful seeing all of the different ethnic inspired gowns, not only Kate’s Regency inspired sari but I also saw hanboks and kimonos flitting through the crowds. Top notch work😁
11:23 oh😍🙌🏻 the way West African people’s culture is similar to ours ❤️🔥. The the symbol on her ring is also similar to “Qusqanat Oyu”, Kazakh’s common significant symbol which also related to bird. And the quote that she said, “except God fear nothing” it is also our people’s life concept❤ So, big hug for all African people from Kazakh girl🇰🇿💗.

Green dress is beautiful and she look stunning , but for me the dress she wore at the library is so her so sweet , kind and innocent and her hair and hair band so so pretty.
For me the costumes often stole the show in season 3!! So many stunning details and fabrics, I absolutely love it. The amount of craftsmanship that goes into this show is really a delight
Colin’s striped vest in the balloon scene is almost like a male corset, it’s amazing how his wardrobe changed to make him seem more manly and appealing in a different way from other Bridgerton male leads!!
The fabrics, the detail..each and every piece custom made. The costumes are just as big of stars as the actors wearing them.. the wardrobes for Luke and Nicola this year are exquisite!!!
You should do this an entire mini documental for Netflix or something like that cause its amazing, interesting and sooo important for the success of the show and the characters personality and also evolution through the 3 seasons!!!
I seriously drool over the costuming. I want to learn to sew on that level. I wish I had gone to school for costuming the way I wanted to in high school. It’s fantastic.
I absolutely love seeing when projects allow the people working on it to get creative and truly dive into their passion. It feels so satisfying and exciting.

Honestly Bridgerton’s starting to remind me of period pieces in the 50s and how inaccurate- but gorgeous and wonderful- they were. I love that they’re leaning into the innacuracy and craziness it reminds me of the live action Cinderella!
i love how they know who they are catering for, making the guys look hotter, making a dress that can be easily taken off, they know how to please the fans

That’s fine except the part that they wear corsets, ridiculous. The historically accurate silhouette would look better and actually sexier
@@Angel-ts8rc This ! I can't understand how they can have such beautiful costumes but use such terrible corsets

Excellent idea!!! I couldn’t agree more! It would be glorious- 7,500 costumes to choose from
Me toooooooo!!!!!!
They should definitely do one of those tours like Downton Abbey did where they take the clothes and some of the props around to different cities.
Anch'io lo guardo anche per questo.
Avranno creato dall'inizio centinaia di costumi.

It’s my least favorite dress 😂 but I do love her pastel blue one with the dark appliqué
Sissi avec romy Schneider. Autant en emporte le vent et j en passe

Everyone in the costume department deserves a raise!
Yep they do instead they cut the pay for the third season

Costumes are fascinating!! Or an exhibition of the costumes.
Me too ❤
Yep, take my money, now! I hope the gowns and men's costumes are made into an art show or museum!
I agree
As a Ghanaian, seeing Adinkra symbols woven into Lady Danbury's outfits made me swell with pride!!
Penelope’s new look reveal was DIVINE. Her hair, the dress color. She looked like fire burning in the middle of the deepest ocean. ❤
