Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial By 481 Designs

- Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial
Hi and thank you for watching my video. 😃I want to thank all the lovely and crafty people over at the FB group Junk Journal Junkies for being such a source of encouragement and inspiration. A special thanks to Jeanne, Lynn and Sherry for motivating me to create my first tutorial. I love all the charitable ideas you ladies have for these little journals. I know your love and compassion will make a big difference for so many in need.
To make this Paper Bag Junk Journal you'll need :
* Paper Lunch Bag (5 1/8" x 10 5/8"
* Adhesive
* Bone folder
* Scrapbook paper or cardstock
* Paper trimmer or scissors
* Sizzix Passport die designed by Eileen Hull
* Ephemera and other embellishments
* Ink pad and stamps
* Twine or ribbon
* Stapler
* Miscellaneous papers for the junk journal signature including music sheets, graph paper, coffee filters, plain copy paper, and old book pages
Cut paper for junk journal covers as follows:
4 pieces at 3 1/4" x 4 3/4"
2 pieces at 3" x 4 3/4"
For the journal pages use the Sizzix Passport die by Eileen Hull and cut 6-8 pages.
If you don't have the die cut paper to 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" or use paper from that sized paper pad and fold in half on the 6 1/2" side.

I love these! I'd like to make some for our Ronald McDonald house here in Cincinnati. They like to give handmade journals to patient's and to leave in family rooms to leave notes of encouragement to future families. Thanks for sharing this great tutorial.

Wonderful tutorial - would never have guessed it was your first. These mini bag journals are adorable and quick. I plan to make a few to leave around at Dr's offices or waiting rooms as RAKs for strangers to enjoy. Good way to use my stash and spread a little happy. Thanks for sharing.

I just have to tell you. I made one of these this weekend and I could NOT stop! They are so adorable and SO fun to make. I plan on selling them at a flea market or at a vendor booth I plan on opening in the near future. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial.

These are darling. You should definitely make more tutorials. It’s so nice for the personal intro at the beginning. You’re a beautiful lady who creates beautiful work.
One of the great things about growing older is that (most) people are not offended when we older ladies say things like "You're precious' or as Jeanine said below, "You're adorable." So, 481, you are those things and more. This was an excellently done tutorial, with great pacing and demonstration of how you make these - adorable - journals. In fact It's made me think about the journals for cancer patients in my area. So thanks so much. I've subscribed and will now look for more of your videos.

💜💙💚 I love your journals. This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for - a simple tutorial on how to make a paper bag journal. Your tutorial is the only one that I have found that shows start to finish in one video. Perfect!!!
I too think these would be amazing to take to our local cancer treatment center. My cousin just finished her chemo for breast cancer and it is now gone. Thank the Lord above. 😇
I think the tag would be pretty hanging on the inside when you open it. It looks good on the outside too but it would add a little dangle inside.
I have been gathering supplies to make some journals. Will be going to my Dollar Tree and getting bags. I have everything but the bags. I plan to make some for our cancer treatment center. Such a thoughtful little treasure for someone to write in as they go through their treatments. Thank you for showing me how to make these and for the inspiration.

Great idea, will be having a go if I can find the bags here in Australia.
Thank you so much 😊 May I suggest you cut card stock to size and use is in the place of the bag if you can’t find the bags easily. The idea will work with thick paper too. 😉😃 You can create pockets with more paper too.

I like the tag, but I agree a smaller one would look better. You could also add a charm with a pin of some sort also that would be cute

Starting to make paper bag journals. My die cut for insert pages is splitting the paper between the 2 holes I think it's suppose just score, Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? Thank you!!
Jeanne Corsby-Hale I had something similar happen depending on wether I ran too many or too few pages through at one time. I just played with until I got the right effect of the scoring between the two holes. I suggest you check out Eileen’s FB and her fan page. It’s super helpful with tips and tricks. I hope that helps.
