Paper Bag Art Journal Tutorial with art journaling

I got a request to do an altered paper bag. I decided to do an art journal using coptic stiches. I have wanted use this technique to bind my on journal for a while. I made one with watercolor paper previous to this so I´m no expert on this binding method. This is my way of doing it. I finished the front and back on my journal in this session.

Loved watching this one evolve...the idea of applying the first stencil a second time was a brilliant afterthought, showing all the individual colours coming through and using the finger to smudge the paint filling in any brown paper showing. The final white pen finishing brought everything together...and looks fabulous with the butterflies following round the circles...perfect.....xx

Love the cover, great colour & design. I've never tried Coptic binding, it always seemed complicated, but you have shown it in detail. I like the neatness of it, must try it.😊

A great instruction video on how to bind a book. It takes a lot of patience......not sure I have that but the end result is lovely. I love your finished page, very vibrant. I’m going on a hunt for butterflies. I notice your paints are drying up, if you spray them with water after each use, you will be able to rehydrate them. Give them a good shake (with the lid on) after spraying. Thanks for sharing.

So beautiful!! Do you always put Gesso on the plain paper before you start your work? Or can it be after the paintings finished?❤️❤️
Most of the time I do, especially if I don’t work in regular art books. Often I journal in old books and use wet mediums and this way you protect the paper from soaking up water. You can skip if you’re painting with acrylics.

Thank you so much. You can find it in flower shops, craft shops and so on. It’s basically the thin paper you use for protecting fragile items. You can also use the one you use in the kitchen for food. Although it’s not equally good. It wrinkles when I gets wet.
@@JessonArt so it's not the tissue paper that you use at Christmas time to stick in the boxes, and it's not deli paper, correct?
Well, yes I guess the paper you use for Christmas gift is the same tissue paper I’m talking about. Deli paper, isn’t that glossy on one side? I the one I use is more like a oven paper. That’s what we call it in Sweden. It’s not that fragile as tissue paper.
@@JessonArt thank you! The deli paper is not glossy here, but the wax paper is glossy on one side. Our parchment paper is not glossy and we use that in the oven. I will experiment with the deli paper since it is a little stronger than the tissue paper.
It’s good to experiment. I think it’s parchment paper I use most of the time but sometimes I think it wrinkles when you glue it with gel medium.

Thank you so much. 🌸Most of the time there are information about materials in the video or under the video in the description box. If not I’m more than happy to answer. In this case I have used dylusions paint and other cheaper paints white and blue.

No, no link. I think the brand is kaisercraft but it’s an old stencil not sure if you can find it anymore

Personally I never give thumbs down, I just scroll along if I don’t like it but its everyone’s own choice and it’s perfectly fine. Maybe they where expecting something else. I’m okay with not everyone loving my videos. 🙏 thank you

I am so confused watching you do this I don't know how you can do this it just makes me dizzy
