For all of the youngsters out there, just ask your grandmothers about this classic by Bobby Hatfield. They ALL melted every time they heard it. I grew up in the 60s and have heard many great ones throughout time, but this version by Bobby is the greatest love song EVER. This song was extremely popular with our troops in Vietnam. I know - I was there

The singer is Bobby Lee Hatfield. He was originally from Beaver Dam Wisconsin, but his family moved to Anaheim CA when he was 4y/o. The song was recorded using only Bobby. because he was the only one of the duo who could hit the high notes. Many consider this live performance on the Andy Williams Show in 1965 to be the best rendition, bar none. Thse last few high notes that he hit at the end were not in the studio recording which was released on vinyl. We in Wisconsin are so proud of Bobby. Wisconsin strong!

What a lovely young lady you are, and what a reaction. Felt very genuine, unlike some of the reactions I’ve seen. I don’t know how any female could watch this video and not fall flat out in love with Bobby. That voice is just dreamy. I was about 12 when this was aired, and instantly got a super crush on him. ❤️🥰😍.

They weren't actually brothers, in an interview before one of their shows they were asked how the name came about. They replied that after one of their concerts a gentleman stood up in the audience and yelled that is "righteous brother". This is the most beautiful love song of all time IMHO !!!

Bobby's performance was pure perfection.Just his voice and a small microphone. No do overs this was LIVE.He had it all.Gorgeous voice and the looks too.Bill s handsome too together Bobby's tenor voice and Bill Melody's baritone voice shouldn't have blended but they did the were pure magic. They were inducted into the ROCK and ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2003 unfortunately Bobby passed away a few months after Bill Melody is still singing and performing to this day over 50 years.

Maureen, Bobby was just 25/yrs old when he sang this song. It was a live performance of course, on the Andy Williams TV Show, in 1965. If still alive, Bobby would be 80/yrs old today. But as you have witnessed, his song is a touching, emotional and relevant today, as it was back then. This song will forever withstand the test of time. Why? Because, "Class will NEVER go out of Style".

Maureen, let me tell you a cute story about this singer, Bobby Hatfield. He and his friend Bill Medley (the Righteous Brothers) were singing superstars back in the day when Elvis (the King) was at his peak. I was 16 years old when Bobby sang this song, so I grew up listening to them. Anyway, they were friends with Elvis. One Christmas, Bobby had his picture taken with Elvis and sent it out to all his friends... signing it... "Merry Christmas, from Elvis and The King". How funny is that? So not only could Bobby Hatfield sing like an angel, he had a great sense of humor.

Thanks to modern technology, the many icon songs of that era have the chance to relive in the hearts of the younger generation. So glad. You can’t find such talent nowadays, it seems. So let the legends live on forever. Let the younger generation continue to learn about those moment in time.
I enjoyed watching ladies reacting to this song. Interstingly, I just learnt that this song came out just as young American soldiers were sent to Vietnam to fight the war.
So imagine what it meant to those young men. My tears are rolling now.

I loved your reaction. Looked like you fell in love . . .
“Unchained Melody” was written for a prison movie titled 'Unchained' (1955).
The lyrics were written from a prisoners perspective longing for his loved one he had left behind.
Bobby Hatfield (1940-2003) and Bill Medley make up the Righteous Brothers.
In 1965 on a live television program (The Andy Williams Show) Bobby Hatfield gave one of the greatest live television performances in history.
If you want to hear more of their great music, try: “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” which was the most played song of the 20th Century.
Also “Soul and Inspiration”, “Rock And Roll Heaven” and “Ebb Tide”, "Somewhere", "My Prayer", "I Believe", "Crying in the Chapel” and "Only You".

bill had the deep voice while bobby had the higher vocals.
this song was sung by bobby so beautifully.
he gave it silkiness and class with romance and passion.
i have heard many versions of this song , but bobby's voice was so soft and soul inspiring
all the girls who reacted to bobbys version were moved to almost tears.

Bill was good friends of Elvis n after Elvis died he wrote a tribute song for him called "Old Friend " Some of Elvis songs you may like are Suspicious Minds Vagus 1970, The Wonder Of You 1970, American Trilogy Aloha concert 1973 that was broadcasted around the world and seen by 1.5 Billion people n this concert was the only one I got to see him, I was happy to get a 3rd row center seat. He sings with his brother. Legend has it they flipped a coin to see who would sing this song on that night. His parents were in the audience and he was very nervous. You're beautiful by the way, and so is your soul. I Love the black choker also.

they flipped a coin to see who would sing for the recording of the single, and Bobby won. This show was recorded when the song was already a hit.

They weren't actual bros. What I've read was that after joining up together, in California in the early 60's, they were performing, I believe on an army base, and some African American guys loved their sound and said something to the effect, "That was Righteous, Brother!"..Voila!...The birth of the Righteous Brothers!

They weren't brothers, but Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield (both born in 1940) Bobby sang the song because Bill didn't believe it would be a hit.

I think Bobby would have sounded better than Bill, so good thing that Bobby won the coin toss! I have relistened to this live version hundreds of times since seeing this video, as Bobby's voice sounds so flawless, genuine and achingly beautiful!

there are 2 but they decided this song was better as a solo. more than 650 artists recorded this song but this is by far the best.

Your genuine reaction brought tears to MY eyes! That is the late Bobby Hatfield doing the solo; usually he sang with his partner, Bill Medley (The Righteous Brothers).

The Righteous Brothers were a duo, Bill Medley (Baritone) and Bobby Hatfield (Tenor). This is Bobby Hatfield, and he sang this song solo live on tv. There was no such thing as autotune back then, either, so all those notes he's hitting, that's all him.

Blue Eyed Soul, Bobby Hatfield nailed this in the studio in two takes.
His partner Bill Medley produced the song.
Bobby told Bill, I can do it better.
    Bill said, no you can’t..😊
