Here we have a rare example of getting to see literally back-to-back comparisons (different songs though) of a band's classic lineup vs the new lineup. A band becomes famous for the original magic that created it. That doesn't mean that through tragedy or strife, bands haven't been able to replace core members and maintain success. But this is a loud and clear example of the magic of that classic lineup. They TRULY sounded like the Heart we all fell in love with. It sounded AMAZING compared to the Heart cover band that followed. And I wish I were joking, but I have to be honest. That super slow and disjointed sounding version of "Barracuda" was a mighty letdown. I know they wanted to share the spotlight with some friends, but it would have been more respectful to the legacy of Heart and their fans to let the classic lineup play the whole set. It would have been epic....They haven't played in 30+ years and still sound better than the touring lineup - That speaks volumes!!
You know what. Thanks for that you really Hit exactly what I wanted to mention. It is the first thing I noticed was the difference in the sounds of the 2 bands. For me the FAT sound dropped right off. Huge difference and oh dear what a Pity. :) Have a Great day .
Thank you for hitting that nail on the head. The magic that was created from that original lineup was not limited to the Wilson sisters - it was the sum of all parts, with this video as Exhibit A.
I first just saw this and didn’t know the history that well. The Fisher bros are the legit sound, and heart and soul. No pun intended. I’m disappointed in the Wilson sisters for fooling us that grew up in 70’s and 80’s. Original lineup rocked!
Agree with the assessment here. What really ruins Barracuda is when the drummer comes in he drags the slow down even slower. Michael's drumming on the original record is fantastic
To me the whole Roger Fisher aspect to Heart makes me sad. He was forgotten by most. He was their top notch electric guitar sound for Barracuda, Magic Man, and Crazy On You -- and there wasn't any electric guitar tunes after that with Heart other than some Zeppelin cover tunes they did later. Imagine the music they *might have* created had he stayed in the band. Sad, sad, sad.
I think roger is an excellent guitar player? He seems to hog the spotlight though. He doesn't seem to like anyone else showing their talent. Just my impression
It is pathetically sad that during their induction ceremony most of the inducted members of the band were kicked off the stage after one song and not allowed to perform a 70's song that the original guys were instrumental in creating in the 70's. It's unbelievable to think that the musicians who can play Barracuda better than anyone else were probably standing in the wings watching this rendition. I understand they are probably friends with the Wilson sisters but if I were in the position of Cantrell, Cornell, and McCready I would have been embarrassed and even insulted in being asked to play with the "current band" while the honored members of the band stood and watched. Sad is the only word to describe the Wilson sisters not be able to find it within their hearts (irony noted) to genuinely share the stage with the other inducted band members.
Zoetropeification I completely agree. I thought that was a classless move by the Wilson sisters playing a classic like Barracuda without the guys that made that song happen. It clearly shows that there is lingering animosity there. Crazy On You and Barracuda are two songs that are largely responsible for them getting into the Hall of Fame in the first place. Why not let the original guys play both? The first song seemed like...okay, you guys get to play this token song and then get the fuck off the stage and let our real band play...also we are going to use guest guitarists that had nothing to do with it at all. Tasteless.
Well, if you had read their book, (the updated one with the new epilogue) it said that one song had to be played by the original lineup....another song had to be played by their current lineup....and the other song had to be performed by musicians from other bands. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee requested this. I agree that the original lineup should have played Barracuda but please get your facts straight before you say things that you don't know about.
schuinful I didn't know that . Thanks. Its not the ladies fault. I think it was a dumbass move by the hall though to suggest the current band be up there though for anything. As a fan since the 70.s seeing the originals together again was great and long awaited and we know that's the only Heart band being inducted.
Fisher is not "hogging the spotlight" hes just reclaiming what is his. I'm just a casual Heart fan. I know the 70s lineup is better than 80s onward lineup. Now I see why. Roger is an awesome musician, and true performer. Look at him man, just going for it. You can see the thought balloons above the audiences head ":Damn ALL those killer riffs were THAT guy, not Nancy". Roger if your out there you earned a hardcore true blue fan from this one single performance. No disrespect to the girls at all. I applaud Ann & Nancy for putting personality conflicts aside to let the original band play. Debbie Harry wouldn't let Nigel Harrison and Frank Infante play at the Blondie RnR HOF performance. So the guys who played (and in some cases wrote) on the hits that got em in to the hall didn't get to play in favor of the then "current" lineup. This is just Roger showing who the Heart of Heart truly is.
+David Lindsay Agreed. I love the Wilson sisters, but the guys in the original lineup deserve way more credit for giving the band its hard-driving, Zeppelin-esque sound in the '70s. No doubt, Ann is one of the greatest female rock vocalists of all time and Nancy is a solid rhythm guitarist, but the original guys were really at the core of the band's sound. Nancy's signature songs were the acoustic "Silver Wheels" and the intro to "Crazy on You," but she was never the lead guitarist. Roger Fisher and Howard Leese were the ones who played their signature guitar riffs and all the solos. With those guys gone, Heart hasn't been able to recapture their original guitar sound.
I believe that Heart chose to do "Crazy on You" to give some of the spotlight to Nancy. Nancy plays acoustic rhythm guitar while needed is not spectacular like lead guitar.
Despite not having played together for decades, the original line-up really does kick it out in serious style. And so nice to see Roger Fisher doing his thing. He was - and remains - a highly vibrant and personable guitarist, whose technique and musicality added so much to those early tunes and - frankly - nobody in the band has been able to duplicate with that touch and magic. Ditto Michael Derosier, whose deft touch on the drums kicked the band like a tank (in the Led-in sense), but was never heavy in the leaden sense. As for Ann and Nancy - consistently very fine...and the award well warranted, if long overdue.
The first song (Crazy On You) with the original band was pure magic. The second song not so much. You could feel the old chemistry in that first one!!!
drummer definitely wasnt driving it. Snare sounded late on each hit. Barracuda aint jazz.Dont try to make it swing. Or did he just establish it way too slow after the intro?@@drumsralwaysbest9234
Roger Fisher is just an animal on guitar. It sucks they never got Heart back together for at least a tour. It could still happen but seems really unlikely. They were one of the greatest rock bands of all time in their day. Heart as the Wilson sisters, Fisher, Howard Leese, Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier.... now that was a band!!!
Never happen Ann despises Rodger Fisher and even made disgusting comments about him at this event. Ann borders on being childish about everything no wonder she can't find a man and its not her weight issues she is just a horrible person.
SuperFroJoe The original band was not the band that played in the mid 1980's, the original band was the 1970's and very early '80's and at the time all the songs from them were heavier. Crazy on you, Strait on for you, Barracuda, all the original band. The teeny bopper stuff of the mid '80's was the Wilson sisters using the name Heart and honestly they should have called it the Wilson sisters at that point the original band and idea was long gone.
This video illustrates more than ever that Ann and Nancy weren't just Heart. They were a band and the men played an integral part in their sound. Today, the Wilson sisters say they are Heart, but those of us knew knew them and loved the original band know better. Put another way: no DeRosier, Fisher, Leese and Fossen = no Heart. BTW - new drummer sucks. Can't play Barracuda.
Right on. As a drummer myself, I agree with your statement whole heartedly. Mike Derosier blows the current guy away. Listen to how Barracuda drags after Crazy on you. No fire, no pizazz. The drummer is average at best. Let me up there!
I totally agree. The drummer in this video had no idea what he was supposed to be playing. As long as I've been in the business, it's who you know, not your playing abilities. This is a reason when people spend their hard-earned money for a ticket and they leave disappointed, it's bad for everyone.
Thanks for all the comments, especially from the drummers. I've been around long enough to see singers and guitarists tell some shitty things to drummers. Such as, 'no fills' or 'slow down.' The botched Barracuda might be an Ann thing. Controlling EXACTLY what she wants. I've heard good things about the drummer who played on Barracuda, that he's quite accomplished. He may just be dealing with shit orders from The Wilsons. Yes, either way Ann and Nancy should be ashamed that their desire for control leads to sub-bar performances that amounts to a bad coverband. The world saw what was the real deal and wasn't that night.
Man, just watched this all again. The contrast between the original line up and the 2nd part with the current lineup is astronomical. DeRosier is amazing, Rock solid and makes it look easy. Fisher is astonishing to watch, having the time of his life and lovin' it. Infectious spreads right out into the audience. Fossen holding it all down with DeRos. Howard in there, Rock solid with the rhythm guitar. I think Heart lost a lot when HE left even though that was what, late 80s.? Even with the Seattle rock gods from Alice in Chains,Pearl Jam & Soungarden bringing in the heavy artillery (and a harder rockin song), the 'Barracuda' performance isn't as stunning as the 'Crazy on You' one. I have NO nostalgia factor on this at all. I think they all oughta mend the fences and get back together.
+David Lindsay Even after they had gone more pop and mainstream in the '80s and were doing power ballads, they still basically had a hard rock sound because Howard was still in the band. To me, he was the linchpin of the '80s lineup of Heart as the only one of the "original guys" to still be with the band. Even in the early '90s, they came out with the awesome "Black on Black," which was essentially "Barracuda Part II" because Howard was in the band. He was never just on rhythm guitar with Heart. In the '70s, he was a co-lead guitarist with Roger. He was the one playing the harmonizing solo with Roger on "Crazy on You," and he and Roger had that awesome guitar interplay on the studio version of "Barracuda." In the '80s, when Roger was no longer in the band, Howard was the lead guitarist.
Agreed 100% The Barracuda performance lags really bad as well. They are obviously not playing to a click track because the song really starts sluggish...speeds up in parts and then lags again. The Crazy on You Performance is absolutely air tight.
When they got up there and slaughtered Barracuda Not only was it embarrassing but it reminded me why I hated grunge so much. It also reminded me that Grunge was what actually killed rock and roll. I mean if I want to see a bunch of drug addicts wearing flannel shirts, I'll go down to an alley in the crappy part of town.
Rockers hall of fame, guitar slinger sister brilliant.Ann what can you say about thee rock soulful, power house like know other passion and emotion when she hits turbecharge these notes from scorching to mellow in to overdrive, this is why she is untouchable in ever sense of the word, from the 70s till now 2021 and still up a notch,🎸👌🎸👌🎸👌 at a different level superhuman genius of our time.keep on rocking
Happy to find a thread with opinions of distinguished musicians and longtime fans. Roger is the guitarist who introduced me to Ann's voice. If it hadn't been for Roger's guitar, I may have not noticed. For that reason alone, Roger Fisher's place is etched in history! Roger contribution to music is more than the band, Heart. It is pre-Ann Heart; it is Alias, and the interesting solo albums he has released from his house through the years, available online for many years, and the live shows for charity and otherwise with various artists. Ditto Howard Leese and the rhythm players Fossen and Derosier. Giving the extra 1% to Ann and Nancy was a class act that is like an alimony and aristocratic acknowledgement that the friendship between the Fishers and Wilsons, at one time was real. You don't see gestures like that nowadays. As many singer personalities capitalized on the talent of the lead guitarists responsible for the band's sound, and moved forward with different line-ups, the two sisters forged ahead. I'm thinking, Mick Ronson, Lindsey Buckingham, John Paul Jones, etc. But Ann & Nancy's talent stands on its own. I'm happy Roger Fisher's guitar introduced me to Ann and Nancy, because the poetry and melodies I have enjoyed over the years has supplied alot of comfort in hard times. Thank you, Roger Fisher, and for your solo releases, a couple of which I own, and your wonderful playing. It is truly wonderful they met on stage for this deserved honor, at least for one song.
Can't believe Ann & Nancy didn't allow the whole original line-up to stay onstage to perform Barracuda too. It was the original line-up from the early 70's performing here on Crazy On You that made the band big.
I wept when I saw this. I've never done that before. I have never been emotional over watching a band perform, not like this, I can't explain it. I don't understand what happened to me. What is worse, is that I tear up every time I watch this performance. It is saved on my DVR.
Oh come on girls - you have true freaking rock n’ roll MAGIC in the original line-up. Nobody can touch them. NOBODY. I hear Cal Jam 2 in this performance 35 years later - same sound, same spirit, same magic. No other band mates can replace this and keep your insanely huge legacy intact. One more for the real fans?! Please do something together before it’s too late. This is a historic, legendary band and like it or not, you simply belong together on stage and in the studio. Long live original Heart!
Anne could purr or growl with equal enthusiasm, love love LOVE her voice! Nancy is such an amazing guitarist who is forever over looked. Heart of hearts...
roger fisher was a big part of their sound and proof of that is how they sounded post roger fisher....not just roger fisher but a few of the guys they had...the band lost their 70s edge...they did so-me good ballads...I like their 80s songs...but roger fisher was a key part of their guitar sound not to mention his energy onstage and charisma onstage...he was humble...he could of got a couple women to sing the songs and easily had his own version of heart if he wanted....but I think after he left heart he just decided to leave it behind..he was plenty talented though, talented enough to spot ann Wilson and recruit her...no roger fisher= no heart
I am not arguing his talent, he was in the "very" category but I blame the 80's sound on production and trying to be "current" which may not have been the best move on their part.
Richard Cameron In the 70's Heart wrote their own songs. Fisher is not credited with a lot of songs he co-wrote. At the time the band structure did not necessitate it and it was the way many bands did things. The Fisher Brothers were the leaders of the band at that point. They didn't need the credits. You can't equate the world today as it was 30 years ago it is just not the same. In the 80's with everyone else gone the Wilson sister literally sold themselves out. They hired new management, new PR, and they only wrote a few songs recorded. At that point very honestly they should have called the band the Wilson Sisters, because it was no longer Heart. The whole concept of what Heart was, was now gone. They were just some side show pop act for teeny boppers. The Wilson sister's made a lot of money from it, but they lost a lot of credibility as serious musicians.
There's something special about that original band. They truly were lightning in a bottle. It's a shame that the lineup from the 80's featuring bassist Mark Andes and drummer Denny Carmassi weren't included in the induction.
Well where do i start with this band, from earlier comments sex does sell but do you think HEART would have survived after all these years. Personally i have never never heard a voice like ANN WILSON she is explosive and even at her age today you have to give her CREDIT. Her sister Nancy WOW WOW WOW what a guitarist, they so much deserve there place in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. I can say this that i am a huge HEART fan and thankfully i lived in there era. Besides who else can perform songs of LED ZEPPELIN other than HEART.
If you want a taste of how the reunion would have sounded like had they let the classic lineup play "Barracude", checkout the TH-cam video titled, "Original Heart guys play Baracuda 1st time in 30 years - Synergia NW" - Awesome find! However the sisters were not there :(
Love Heart, but a little disrespectful for Ann and Nancy to have other artists play Barracuda right there in front of Fisher, Leese, Fossen, and DeRosier at the Hall of Fame.
Sacrilege that Roger Fisher isn't playing Barracuda. Why bring these guys up when it was Roger who wrote and payed the hell our of the song and can still play the hell out of the song.
To Super Fro Joe This video is from an event that honored Heart and Roger Fisher was there and had already played with the band. Why not play Barracuda because the song is a real signature for his playing style
Ann Wilson did not want the original band to play at all. She was not even cordial to them at the event and when interviewed before the ceremonies started made childish snide remarks about Rodger Fisher. The Wilson sisters would not even sit near the other guys and made no bones about it. Nancy in interviews at least tried to play it off, but both are prema donnas and despicable, talented yes, but horrible human beings.
Howard Leese has been with them a long time and it's great to see him. Roger Fisher is an excellent guitarist and seems to enjoy playing so much. Gotta respect that. Nancy of course great with her guitar. I loved Ann's speech before the performance and her vocals are amazing. Howard, Ann, and even Roger seem to really appreciate the fans. Makes you love them even more.
When you go back and look at the original video for Barracuda it is literally a sin that they didn't have him play it at this event. They had an idiot grunge band that destroyed the song. Embarrassing.
I had the opportunity to see Heart this past August perform and I will tell you it was the best damn concert I have ever seen! These are two very amazing ladies.
Ya the original line up is still the best and the end of the day Ann's voice Nancy the guitar GODDESS and the band 💜 is still and always will be rock e roll royalty thanks for rocking all these years ur awesome💜👌💜✌💜👍💜
What an awesome day that was! Their induction was so well deserved and long over due! Crazy On You was just magical of course. So great to see/hear the original lineup! Love them all! The Love Alive tour last summer was incredible, but like most long-time Heart fans, I will always long to see/hear the original 6 just one more time!
What a wonder way to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while all the members regardless of past differences are reunited for this Honor. Thanks Heart for taking to heart the meaning of this.
How embarrassing it must be for Ann and Nancy to have to introduce their "current band" out to butcher their most popular song Barracuda....especially after the original Heart BLISTERED their way thru Crazy. Denny Carmassi is leaps and bounds better than Ben in terms of feel and tempo. The current band is just a subpar cover act and also...how come fucking Jerry Cantrell and the rest of Seattle's grungers are always invited to play with them. Just because they have the Seattle connection doesn't mean they are capable. Ugh. Crazy on You...EPIC. Barracuda....terrible. Bury the hatchets Ann and Nancy and get your old band back and take over the world. Please.
Geoff Stephens Their friendship with Alice In Chains goes back to the late 80's. AIC recorded their first couple albums in their studio. Mike McCreedy is just an awesome guitar player, period, Ann sung background on a few of their songs, like Brother. AIC owes Ann & Nancy a lot, they helped them really get their career going. I can also imagine that they were probably a bit sloshed as well celebrating their induction. It wasn't their best performance, but they rarely have an off night performing.
They are friends from way back and fellow Seattle rockers so inviting their friends to play with them at this event was more of a celebration than just for the fans. Sometimes you have to appreciate the camaraderie between fellow artists and how they support one another. McCready is a phenomenal guitar player, like sick! I liked seeing them all have fun, you could see it on their faces which in the end is what it's about. Do what you enjoy doing and celebrate the moment! I loved Heart from day one and the three guys they brought up onstage are all uniquely talented in their own ways. I loved seeing them all jam out!
+Geoff Stephens That's your opinion. I've seen all three incarnations of Heart and the current band is the best sounding live band they've had. And Denny Carmassi was not an original member so by your standards he's also just a subpar cover act.
+Geoff Stephens I agree. The difference between "Crazy on You" with the original members and "Barracuda" with the current line-up and "friends" is night and day. I can't even listen to the plodding, sloppy live version of "Barracuda" that they've been playing for several years now. The guitars are louder and more distorted, but they don't even bother to play all the little licks that made the song so great. Don't even get me started on the drums. "Barracuda" is known for its awesome galloping rhythm (similar to "Achilles' Last Stand" by Led Zeppelin) and the guitar interplay (the guitar parts should be cool and sparse with the right timing, not super distorted and grunge-like), but the current line-up can't get it right.
+jerry willingham Agree. Both the original and current band are good, but the only reason any of them were on that HOF stage is because of Ann's voice.
I loved Heart ever since they arrived on the scene, but to exclude the original band before Barracuda was so wrong.....They would have smoked those chumps...
The original members had to fight for just one song to play, thankfully backed up by the Hall of Fame. Then they had to sit down and watch the current journeyman musician members play to remind us why hearts credibility has been damaged these past 30 years and why this band had to wait 14 years past the eligibility date to be inducted. Barracuda as performed here was mediocre compared to how it would have been played by the original band. At least we got to hear Crazy on You done right. With the original lineup gone 40 years we have not heard one new memorable riff or chord progression out of Heart.
I read some of the comments below, and I see people 'debating' over people they never met. How do you people debate about people you don't know? wtf? The only thing you know about them is their performance. You don't know any of them in HEART. When the original 'band' stepped on the stage, they rocked! Their is no telling how far they could have gone if they stayed together. They probably would have made the hall of fame 10 years ago. We will never know. Just enjoy the music. Their awesome!
Mend the fences and get back together the ORIGINAL BAND!!!roger your amazing kickass❤️I love each and everyone of you from my HEART TO YOUR HEART LETS ROCK AND ROLL AND TURN IT FREAKING UP🤟💔💔🤟REUNION REUNION PLEASE
Hey guys, thanks for all your comments, but as administrator of this channel I reserve the right to remove offensive comments against other people enjoying this video :-). Be happy, music is happiness
I know what you mean. I agree that Fisher was the one who really provided the guitar edge, but I was just saying that Fisher and Leese sounded great together, especially when they played all those harmonizing guitar parts. Fisher was the better lead guitarist, but Leese played both guitar and keyboards, and he did play some nice solos even on their poppier '80s songs. The point is that most of the signature guitar riffs from Heart songs were played by Fisher and/or Leese, not Nancy.
Anne's voice is as powerful as every if not more; one of the best voices in rock imo male or female. You can tell she's really going for it here; that second verse was amazing. that tiny little hitch/crack in her voice @ 2:26 gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I replay this. Nancy is a rock godess nuff said there , and still hot as ever. Chris Cornell's induction speech for them basically said it all.
Howard Leese "We had a lot to do with how successful we were then, (we) really kind of guided the whole thing for a while there. So yeah, it irks me a little bit. Personally I don’t really care. I think being famous is overrated. But, on a musical level, it kind of bothered me that the band never got the credit; how important the band was to the whole overall thing. Let’s just say I had a bigger percentage of the money than I had of the spotlight - I was fine with that."
the fish man started Heart many years before the sisters hooked up ! and yes a incredible writer and player ! I was at many mushroom recording sessions !
They all played their parts to make the band successful, but Ann and Nancy steered this particular ship to the top ( and more importantly) kept it there for decades!
They did sell more records in the late 80's, but they made the Hall because of the quality of the albums with the original lineup. Critics decide who get into the Hall, and they strongly prefer those early albums. Maybe I am completely wrong on who's more resentful, but it looks like Fisher is having a blast here while the Wilsons look less than happy.
I think Fisher and Leese gave the '70s Heart that Zeppelin-esque hard rock sound, and those guys played cool harmonizing guitar solos. Nancy was at her best when she was one of 3 guitarists in the band and playing solid rhythm guitar. Even the '80s Heart still had a solid guitar sound because Leese was still around. Nancy has never been a co-lead guitarist, and it's even more obvious in the current line-up. Many of the cool guitar parts from their songs are left out of the live versions now.
I admire Nancy and think the Wilson sisters are amazing, but it's hyperbolic to say that Nancy plays better than some male guitar players out there. She was one of the few women who played guitar in the '70s and she's a solid rhythm guitarist, but she was never the lead guitarist. Most of the signature guitar riffs from Heart songs were played by Fisher and/or Leese, not Nancy. Nancy's signature piece is "Crazy on You," but even that's not particularly hard to play.
I think for the most part they were getting along pretty well on the stage I noticed that the bass player in the rhythm guitar way over to the far right are kind of odd man out but they're not part of the new band so that's what you get it's a little awkward but I'm glad they're all in the Hall of Fame the original lineup is the best and it's the strongest the fastest the right time signature and everything the new band they're making money right
I lost respect for Ann and Nancy for not allowing the original band and fans to truly enjoy that night. The first song was amazing and then a buzz kill. Whatever grudge they are holding over the original band, get over it!! It was just a power trip on their part.
You're right about them selling more records in the 80s. I still think Roger is the resentful one. He still calls Heart his band--that's why he looks like he's having a blast. I still think he's showing off. Yes, he helped form the band, but after he and Steve were let go, Ann and Nancy created their own style of music, their own words etc. They just decided to keep the name Heart. It wasn't just Ann and Nancy who decided to let them go...it was the whole band
First song was HEART!!!!! Second song Barracuda, Not the same, hands down. The original guys who brought us Dreamboat Anne make Heart what it was. Sorry without Roger Fisher, Howard Lesse, who are the guitar voices that made all these great songs, they had the vibe.
You are probably right, but the flip side is also true. They were never truly Heart when the original members left either. Chemistry in a band is often as important as raw talent and this lineup had both.
The band is great, but ANN is the VOICE! She is the talent that made/makes Heart. Nancy is incredible, too, amazingl;y talented on any stringed instrument.
I think Ann and Nancy both look hot and how classy that they allowed the original guys from Heart to play with them. Too many bands let the past ruin their moment to allow everyone to celebrate together often for the last time. Classy ladies, would pay to see the original Heart reunited.
Roger Fisher stole the show, ruled the stage!! Bravo!!
Here we have a rare example of getting to see literally back-to-back comparisons (different songs though) of a band's classic lineup vs the new lineup. Spot on - 100% agree with your assessment. The classic Heart wipes the floor with the current band.

Nope....look again....I still think he's being ridiculous. Even Steve Fossen was kind of chuckling at him
or Fossen could just be laughing at what a great time his buddy is having...maybe bit much..but Fisher is just going for it having a ball...
I’m happy he did what he did. Roger is my favorite member.
@@schuinful Rogers ALWAYS played with that much flair.
Should have had the original lineup play “Barracuda” - they performed “Crazy on You” amazingly after all these years!!
I believe that Heart chose to do "Crazy on You" to give some of the spotlight to Nancy. Nancy plays acoustic rhythm guitar while needed is not spectacular like lead guitar.
Screw the "current" band stuff -- it was the original band that had the real magic and mojo.... HOF was about THEM
Despite not having played together for decades, the original line-up really does kick it out in serious style.
Standing O
Okay
Cornell And Cantrell Are Badasssssssss and Nancy Breaking out the SG fkng BADASSSSSSSSSSS RIP CC
The first song (Crazy On You) with the original band was pure magic. The second song not so much. You could feel the old chemistry in that first one!!!
I really think they need to re-think getting Rog,Mike and Steve back in.
I agree. Cantrell botched the solo and simply had no feel.
Because they were playing it so slow like they were running out of gas
@@drumsralwaysbest9234 no sense of urgency at all.
drummer definitely wasnt driving it. Snare sounded late on each hit. Barracuda aint jazz.Dont try to make it swing. Or did he just establish it way too slow after the intro?@@drumsralwaysbest9234
the original line up had the most kick-i miss them
Much better than any other band they worked with
@@joecap2919 Spot on. The music did all the talking.
So true🤜⚡🤛💕
@@joecap2919 👍🏼
Roger Fisher is just an animal on guitar. It sucks they never got Heart back together for at least a tour. It could still happen but seems really unlikely. They were one of the greatest rock bands of all time in their day. Heart as the Wilson sisters, Fisher, Howard Leese, Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier.... now that was a band!!!
and Kansas too !
Makes you dream of a Heart original lineup reunion.
Especially since the original lineup sounds better the current one.
markjf131 I actually like the way the current band sounds better. They are much heavier now than the original.
Yep. I saw them play live in 1978 and 1980 and liked that version better than the teeny bopper stuff that came in the mid 80's.
Whatever tensions were going on, it was still an epic performance.
Couldn't have said it better!! They need to ditch Tim Robbins on guitar and get the real Heart back. It's been long enough!!
This was such an unbelievable performance. I'm a Rush fan and this was more unexpected. Had a lot of respect for them after.
When the last original member Howard Leese left Heart, the band died finally to me.
Roger plays and at 1:13 Nancy looks over at him and smiles
From your mouth to God's ear. Time is running out and ...pride goes before a fall. Heart is fadeing as a relevant act.
GOD DAMN ANN WILSON STILL HAS THE PIPES!! Rock on Heart!
AGREE this was painful to watch because it was HORRIBLE
It's amazing they still have all those guys right?
Heart of hearts...
nancy is a good guitarist but it was roger fisher who came up with the riffs that gave heart their sound..nancy was more for looks and backup vocals.
Ya right. She co-wrote, played a mean guitar (albeit, acoustically) You know not.
roger fisher was a big part of their sound and proof of that is how they sounded post roger fisher....not just roger fisher but a few of the guys they had...the band lost their 70s edge...they did so-me good ballads...I like their 80s songs...but roger fisher was a key part of their guitar sound not to mention his energy onstage and charisma onstage...he was humble...he could of got a couple women to sing the songs and easily had his own version of heart if he wanted....but I think after he left heart he just decided to leave it behind..he was plenty talented though, talented enough to spot ann Wilson and recruit her...no roger fisher= no heart
The original Guitarist can really play, its a shame hes not in the lineup anymore...
Super start to finish! They were always excellent! Every which way Studio or Live..... (Y)
Real Heart's formation!!!!! Great to see them together!!!!!!
Crazy was so good. Barracuda… like a VW towing a boat.
And adding insult to injury Barracuda was a hack job.
Sacrilege that Roger Fisher isn't playing Barracuda. Why bring these guys up when it was Roger who wrote and payed the hell our of the song and can still play the hell out of the song.
Probably because Roger isn't part of Heart anymore and hasn't been for three decades.
SuperFroJoe
But Roger is the best yet. Horrible version of Barracuda. There´s no Heart without Roger Fisher.
I've always like Michael Derosier as a drummer. He's not flashy, but he has always been really solid and clean behind the drum kit.
When you go back and look at the original video for Barracuda it is literally a sin that they didn't have him play it at this event. They had an idiot grunge band that destroyed the song. Embarrassing.
To watch them there reunited is still so nice
This was the song that caused me to fall in love with Ann Wilson and Heart, back when it first came out.
I had the opportunity to see Heart this past August perform and I will tell you it was the best damn concert I have ever seen! These are two very amazing ladies.
This honor was YEARS overdue!, especially given some of the names that have gotten in before them.
Ya the original line up is still the best and the end of the day Ann's voice Nancy the guitar GODDESS and the band 💜 is still and always will be rock e roll royalty thanks for rocking all these years ur awesome💜👌💜✌💜👍💜
This band is just FUCKING GOOD. It's too bad that the personal issues will never get worked out.
Wow! Ya hera justo, supermerecido para las hermosas y talentosas
ANN and NANCY WILSON,congratulations SISTER'S HEART
Si, finalmente lo lograron y siguen siendo grandes :)
Please.
Whoops...not Carmassi...Derosier. My bad.
The Wilson sisters still kick some serious butt after all these years
that's what i was gonna say!!! Original line up shows why theyre in the R&RHOF!!!
Will always love these 2 ladies. Still sound so awesome!
ABsolutely awesome. Heart has always been a favorite...Barracuda seems quite a bit slower but still a great job
Man, could barracuda be slower?
Luv them....we need the old rockers back...the autosync stuff stinks...these people could sing
Their all great but then their is ANN.. There is nothing without Ann but the whole group is amazing. Roger is fantastic.
+jerry willingham Agree. Both the original and current band are good, but the only reason any of them were on that HOF stage is because of Ann's voice.
It is not that sex sells,guys.....The Wilson sisters are true music royalty.True.Princesses of music.:):)
I loved Heart ever since they arrived on the scene, but to exclude the original band before Barracuda was so wrong.....They would have smoked those chumps...
Gret performance. Thanks for posting this. I only wish you had your TV screen set to the correct aspect ratio so everyone wouldn't looked squished.
I loved seeing the Original line-up of Heart! Cool seeing Jerry Cantrell jamming with them too.
She may be pushin 60 pretty hard but damn, Nancy can still play the shit out of that guitar.
man fuck yeah she can! She is beating the fuck out of those strings!
No comparison between the original line up and that tribute act that followed.
Damn those vocals!!!! :D
classic lineup the best!
still great ladies
"Barracuda" is an early example of the sonic, guitar texturing that would become so prevalent in the 1990s. Heart was definitely ahead of its time.
Still so great to see all of them work together here again. Even if for only briefly, :)
Hey guys, thanks for all your comments, but as administrator of this channel I reserve the right to remove offensive comments against other people enjoying this video
Muito bom que BONITA performance , .SEMPRE em meu CORAÇÃO , estas duas irmãs e sua BOA BANDA ..
Anne Wilson can bang with the best of them. She is the first legit Rock n Rolla Mama!
Thank you thank you thank you for uploading these!
For anyone mentioning Barracuda being slow, it's because Ann asked them to slow it down. Has nothing to do with the band.
Let’s just say I had a bigger percentage of the money than I had of the spotlight - I was fine with that."
roger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤❤❤😢😢😢😢miss them
Why was Denny Carmassi not mentioned? Ex Montrose, Heart drummer extraordinaire.
the original guys sound way better, those guys sounded unreal, and that drummer is off the charts
+batlizard37 - Michael Derosier is the original drummer and kicks f-ing ass!!!!
+batlizard37 The original band is really good, but they're not as hard or heavy. They're ok, but I'll take the louder and heavier current band.
SuperFroJoe there's no comparison. the original guys got the magic
The original band sounded so much better than the current lineup.
the fish man started Heart many years before the sisters hooked up ! and yes a incredible writer and player ! I was at many mushroom recording sessions !
totally agree
They all played their parts to make the band successful, but Ann and Nancy steered this particular ship to the top ( and more importantly) kept it there for decades!
They did sell more records in the late 80's, but they made the Hall because of the quality of the albums with the original lineup. Critics decide who get into the Hall, and they strongly prefer those early albums.
Maybe I am completely wrong on who's more resentful, but it looks like Fisher is having a blast here while the Wilsons look less than happy.
Awesome😃
I think Fisher and Leese gave the '70s Heart that Zeppelin-esque hard rock sound, and those guys played cool harmonizing guitar solos. Nancy was at her best when she was one of 3 guitarists in the band and playing solid rhythm guitar. Even the '80s Heart still had a solid guitar sound because Leese was still around. Nancy has never been a co-lead guitarist, and it's even more obvious in the current line-up. Many of the cool guitar parts from their songs are left out of the live versions now.
I would say one of the best ;-)
I admire Nancy and think the Wilson sisters are amazing, but it's hyperbolic to say that Nancy plays better than some male guitar players out there. She was one of the few women who played guitar in the '70s and she's a solid rhythm guitarist, but she was never the lead guitarist. Most of the signature guitar riffs from Heart songs were played by Fisher and/or Leese, not Nancy. Nancy's signature piece is "Crazy on You," but even that's not particularly hard to play.
Without Roger Fisher the flash disappears. His charisma can't be duplicated. Sad. Roger Fisher was my favorite part about Heart.
I love this band
Freakin goosebumps man...wow
Did I say, I wanna grow up to be just like them..HEART!
As much as I love Ann and Nancy, it was classless not to have the original band do Barracuda….
If it was Ann Wilson that left the band years ago Heart wouldn't have lasted a year..end of story
You are probably right, but the flip side is also true. They were never truly Heart when the original members left either. Chemistry in a band is often as important as raw talent and this lineup had both.
The version with Roger Fisher was ten times better. This is proof.
The band is great, but ANN is the VOICE! She is the talent that made/makes Heart. Nancy is incredible, too,
amazingl;y talented on any stringed instrument.
I think Ann and Nancy both look hot and how classy that they allowed the original guys from Heart to play with them. Too many bands let the past ruin their moment to allow everyone to celebrate together often for the last time. Classy ladies, would pay to see the original Heart reunited.
+craigformykids classy how they "allowed" the original guys to play? Dude, the "original guys" were inducted into the HOF, too.
