    Thanks so much for this review, and your feedback in the comments are so very helpful. I'm 88kg and using the Cruve XLT for light wind and XL (Edit LT not XL) (high wind) for a while and like them very much. Now I'm thinking to change the new fluid XXLT for light wind, and the XLS (or LS) for high wind as the water gets very choppy when the wind picks up. Hopefully you can review the Tall fluids too. Thanks again

      Hi, i have the 3 tallest Fluids in this clip, i would keep the xlt in your case for lowest wind, the xxl will not take off as early...in your case curve XLT with Fluid XXLS or XL should do the job, the curve xl is similar to the faster fluid xxls ...with your weight in high winds the xl should be great

      I guess you haven't seen the newest Gong sizes for the fluid that came out this week. They now have Fluid tall series. XXLT, XLT, LT, MT, and some sizes. They are very low volume, and extra thin.

      @@rolandjacques649 you were right, just checked the specs, 4cm wider and 100cm more but only 1.8cm thickness...think i get one but maybe no advantage to the xxl in terms of lowend, the issue is you need more speed with thinner profiles which does not matter in surfing but in winging with short boards it is not easy to get to this speed without a powered wing...lets see...

    Great to see your review of the Gong Fluid - I have both the Fluid XL and XXLS having moved to these from Curve XL as enjoy the smoother glide. Assume you are using the Fluid L stabiliser?
    Now tempted to get the Fluid XLT for even higher aspect or the Fluid LT as I’m a bit lighter at 75kg. If you review these I’d be very interested.

    • @lxt1714
      @lxt1714  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the largest veloce but think of getting the largest fluid, for pumpability large surface in rear is king, the T version is similar to veloce, too thin for my purposes here where i need fast lift and max lowend on any size due to gusty conditions, the xl is already small for me and my weight 110kg

      NJ, how you getting on with the above setup. i'm simlar weight i have jsut moved to it. assume the xxls as your light wind did you find it helped earlier takeoff? did you get a LT or somethign else as your big wind foil?

      @@nickpratt9752 Hi Nick, the range of XXLS Fluid at 1750 for 12-14 knots works well and then I have a 1550 for medium and the L-T for strong wind… I’m generally using it in fresh water so no added lift from swell or waves so works for me. The Curve XL is great and is probably as good for light wind as the Fluid XXLS as having a bigger wing not only helps when the wind is light but also it helps when learning gybes and is my go to foil as now learning toe side tacks, however too big on the occasions I have gone down to the coast and this is where the XL/XL-T and L-T come into their own. Happy foiling!

    I am an okay kite foiler, currently I have the first version of the surf foil (later rise wing in M). Now I want to get into winging and also replace my kite foil. I am at 82kg without gear.
    Could you help me decide between a fluid XXLS and a Curve XL? I live in bavaria, so a lot of light winds and lakes.
    How is the low end and stall speed of these too?
    Optically I really prefer the shape of the fluid also for transport :P
    For kiting I think about replacing the surf M (rise?) with a Fluid L? :)

    • @lxt1714
      @lxt1714  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, the problem is curve xxl is no longer produced-if you can get one take it.., for dockstart the curve xlt should work for you because of thicker profile, rise xxl is an option but very thick.long distance not possible due to resistance..fluid xxl might work if you have some practice and a good dock to takeoff with some speed...but 1850 is not huge surface...the fluid xxlt has 1950cm2 but is thin like veloce, so lot of speed required to takeoff..

  • @roadrunnermakmak

    Can you compare the Veloce XXL with Fluid XXL? Which would you prefer and why? I am very happy with my fluid XLS and Veloce XL (if wind is up) but dont really like the Veloce XXL for low wind days. It stalls at low speed way too early for its size but is "overpowered" early, too, thats my impression (maybe my 83 kg are not ideal for the veloce XXL...?). I am considering to swap it for a fluid XXL. What do you think? Thanks!

    • @lxt1714
      @lxt1714  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same experience with Veloce, needs powered wind and has thin profile, fluids are a bit thicker and more forgiving in low speed and gusty lightwind conditions...sold my veloce xxl, for ultra lowwind i still have my curve xxl which has 1000cm2 more and is dockstartable for me...

      Hi, the xxls should do a good job here if you like glide and lower ar wings smoother turns, the xxl is more like a glider with bit more lowend...curve xl has similar lowend to xxls or xxl fluid but more resistance and not so efficient to pump...basically downwind you cannot get too large because this only means less effort..stab you need to try, i like big staps for more pumping speed which is similar to downwind stuff without wing...the larger the rear the more power into speed..you cannot pump a monofoil, think about this...whales have also large rear fins :).regards lxt

    Great video. My weight is 95, last year I tried the Gong X-over xxl without success. Had a very hard time getting on foil pumping it. I am using a Slingshot Infinity 99 low aspect and slow 2371cm2 wing, have been out about 20 sessions and in decent wind I am now making around 80% of my Jibes and foot switches. I also feel very stable at all times but foot switch and sometimes Jibes. I am around 77KG with gear.
    I am looking to move to Gong.
    I was thinking two wings, one to start off with Gong, such as a Curve XL or XLT. This I would keep later on the road as a lightwind wing. But I would also hope to be able to ride some wind swell with it as well and be able to handle some higher wind conditions (Say up to 25 knots and choppy conditions).
    Then also buy, maybe even at the same time for any wind other than light wind a fluid XL or XLS
    Do you have any opinion on this?

    • @lxt1714
      @lxt1714  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The infinity is between curve and fluid due to low ar and medium profile..with inf99 and below 80kg for low wind xlt curve might be best low wind option, the fluid xxl and xxls will take off later..but with good pumping technique the xxls might be the next reactive step for you and your weight...due to lower ar than xxl...the xl fluid is really responsive, not sure if this is to much for next step...if you come from infinity i would not go to curve aside for low wind...so curve xlt for lowest wind similar to infinity 99 and or fluid xxls if you want to go quicker for swell the fluid xl or even xls with lower ar and 1400cm2 are an option for you cheers lxt

    • @jbwiden
      @jbwiden 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lxt1714 I think the Infinity 99 is more like the Rise or Xover, it is thicker and lower AR than the Curve.
      I have a nearby lake that is fairly low wind so having the Curve XLT would likely be useful.
      I was thinking the Curve to get the full package including the mast, stab, fuselage, bag, ...
      Then use the stab of the curve for the fluid initially, might make it a bit easier to use. Worst case I struggle with it and use the curve for a bit longer.
      so many choices make it a hard decision.
