I feel much more awkward recording with an iPhone in public because it gives off the vibe that I think I should be recording myself when no one might be interested in watching what I make. Whereas with an actual camera people assume I’m “legit”. I always get asked if I’m a photographer or videographer or what the camera is for (in a tone where they think it’s cool and are interested).
Haha this is exactly what I think too
except when you are filming in restricted or tricky environments like shops, airports, hotel foyers where security may step in if they see a pro style camera filming - need to use both
The HDR tip is huge for iphone users! I remember getting footage from a client to edit, and they filmed it with HDR, and I spent hours pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on and why it looked so bad in Premiere
I know right! I was mind blown when I figured out it was that simple 😅 because I have struggled for years with that ahaha

Just so you know…the Sony Zve-10 has tech in it that allows you to stabilize your footage pretty nicely in post using their software catalyst browse. I think the Sony zv-1 also has this tech built in too but can’t confirm as I don’t own that one. It is a bit more work in post but definitely is a nice feature. It also does crop it in slightly when you do this but as long as you’re shooting with a wide lens in 4K, it’s not bad! :)
My vlogging camera just broke… so I am here looking at what I should save up for. I do have an iPhone so thankfully that is an option for now.

Thank you for this!!!! I’m a new TH-camr. I just returned from 2 months in France and refused to pack my Sony ZV-E10 📸 instead I opted to use my iPhone 14 Pro Max paired with the DJI Osmo 6 which worked out wonderfully! Now I’m back in the US and JUST ordered the Sigma 16mm lens after doing tons of research. It hasn’t arrived as yet and I‘ve been second guess myself until I came across your video which confirmed my choice❤ Thank you!

This was very helpful currently looking for a decent camera while getting the channel started thannnks for this.
Nice video. Your clear and concise. I have gear but I am going to be shooting video from my E-bike. I am thinking a GoPro with some kind of stabilizer. Another technique that many may find useful is using a drone….but not in the usual way. The DJI mini can be operated as a hand held video camera. The image is stabilized and you can also get Ariel footage.
I bought the Sony ZV-1F and the quality is amazing! it does its job and does it well!

Great vid! For the first year or so I bounced between cameras and phones trying to find the best combination. We are quite happy with our setup now. DJI Action 3 with Hollyland Lark M1 wireless mic. Less than 500 for the both.

Great video. I had a white ZVE10 that gave me more comfort to vlog in public because it looked less intimidating. Shyness is my biggest barrier. I can vlog at a nature park or a museum, but not on a crowded street so much.

I'm definitely guilty of using camera gear to procrastinate starting a channel. I feel so called out, but in a good way. I need to be held accountable! 😂 Very interested in the Sony options though. I've always used Nikon DSLRs for photography. So, I've been playing around with the Nikon Z30 and it's an awesome little camera so far! 🙌🏻
Just remember that the phone you carry in your pocket has a camera that's better than about 90 percent of what anybody had over ten years ago. Lots of people don't even start out filming themselves until they got comfortable. There are options to try.

Okay, so I currently vlog on my iPhone 12 Pro in 4k 60 like you say, but my audio never sounds crisp or clear. I sometimes use Denoise in Premiere Pro to help, but it doesn't sound as great as your audio here. What are you doing differently to correct audio when iPhone vlogging? Would love some help! Thanks!

once I have my own I will definitely make some comparison content :) I think if you're budget conscious the mark 1 is perfect (with it's new lower price) but if you really want that wide angle (which for me is personally important!) then go with the mark 2 :)
Just in time! I'm looking at possibly adding a new Hero 11 or 12 (later this year) as a jump up from my phone. It's that or the Sony but I'm leaning towards the smaller Hero. Thank youuuu

Can anybody tell me how long the film time is for the cameras in this? I know many vlogging cameras cut you off after 20-30 minutes of consecutive filming. Any answers would be much appreciated! 💚
Well, this came out at the perfect time! My hubs just gifted me the Sony ZV-E10 for my birthday. I just shot my first video on it and didn't even bother with an external mic for it and thought it didn't sound terrible on its own. I still plan on getting a mic, I like that mini you used. Might try to scoop that one! Thank you, Katie!
Did you find that the ZV-E10 overheated at all? My other Sony I have overheated and shut down in the middle of a video. 😅
@@bibbidibobbidibestie I came from an old Sony A6300 which never had that issue, I did have the ZV-E10 shut down on my twice BUT the camera was on a window sill with full sun blasting it so might have been user error haha.
@@heathertormey That’s so interesting! That’s the exact camera I was using! The a6300! It seems like a dinosaur now. I’ve been looking at the ZV-E10, just haven’t bit the bullet yet.
@@bibbidibobbidibestie That's too funny! I honestly think the flip around screen was a game changer compared to the A6300. The E10 is more set up for video/vlogging where I feel the A6300 is set up more like a traditional camera if that makes sense.

when vlogging with you iPhone, is there a specific orientation to hold it?
From what I have seen in reviews, it would appear that canon g7x have the better stabilization, however the sony zv-1 auto-focus is better. There's a compromise in everything and like you say, there is no one size fits all for vlog cameras. I though I might see a re-appearance of the insta360 you reviewed previously.

You forgot the best of the best of the best vlogging camera for under $1,000. The Nikon Z30 is better than ever single camera you used for this test.
It is definitely a very good camera
Better camera doesn't necessarily mean it's better for vloggers
RED, Alexa, FX6, FX3, Canon C series are all top cameras but are not necessarily better for a vlogger who have different needs
What’s your experience with t he Sony cameras overheating? I’ve been seeing a lot of comments online about the zv1 and other models in this series not having adequate cooling vents and overheating quickly at 4k
What camera were you using when shooting the recap at the end? Around the 20:00 mark? It looks great. Shallow depth of field, good focus/color

no necessarily! but I find the deity microphone sounds a bit better than the media mode's built in one :)

To be honest I am not watching your video's for the great video and audio quality. I watch it for the content and actually, I don't mind the not so good video quality but I do sometimes think that you should do better with your audio quality. E.g. the sound at 17:50 is much lower then 14:00 . I find myself turning the sound up and down while watching your video. Just go to a camera shop and try the ZV-E1 with the 24 mm f/2.8. I am pretty sure you will love it. It is small, full frame, with the same sensor as the FX-6, super good stabilization.

you just need to look for the little camera app on your watch! tap that while the camera is open on your phone and you'll get a live view :)

Need a deadcat on the gopro mic to avoid wind noise in your video
My song zv 1 randomly broke. It keeps saying memory card locked and the image database has an error. I tried the format it and it just won’t work so heads up for anyone who might buy it.
Gopro is an amazing device overall however a very basic function is missing "you can't Pause the video during recording" 😭
